Cedar Haven

Enjoy a serene getaway to scenic Tobermory, situated on this 1.7 acre property entirely surrounded by trees. You will hear very little more than birds chirping and the distant sound of Lake Huron's waves hitting the shoreline.

Little Tub Harbour is only a 10-minute drive from Cedar Haven, where you can arrange glass-bottom shipwreck tours, visit Flowerpot Island or head out for a dive expedition. A number of casual dining options and light gift shopping are available there as well. For the active vacationer, this is the perfect location for kayak and SUP rentals. Are you planning a trip to Manitoulin Island? Book your crossing on the Chi Cheemaun -the Great Lakes' largest ferry.

This all-season custom-built home features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry room, loft reading nook and a large open concept kitchen and living room with cathedral ceiling.

A short walk from the property will give you access to numerous trails and waterfront vistas, including the increasingly famous Sunset Park. A deck surrounds the home on three sides to enjoy a meal cooked on the available outdoor grill or to stargaze into Tobermory's notoriously dark skies. Too cold outside? Get your favourite book, a hot drink and enjoy a seat on our pull-out sofa in front of the propane fireplace.

What a beautiful and amazing home! The house is gorgeous, very well stocked and everything you could want. All the amenities you could imagine. It’s a beautiful area as well. We had one very minor hiccup when we first arrived that was immediately addressed and taken care of by Marc. He is the most responsive owner I’ve ever dealt with. Thank you, Marc, for an outstanding stay! We will be back!

House was clean and tidy when we arrived. The whole house is well appointed and well stocked with just about everything you could want or need, The property is secluded and in a very peaceful setting. We enjoyed several walks and the fox who visited us during our stay.Marc and Claudia were great to deal with right from the get go, were quick to reply to our questions and addressed any questions we had in a timely manner.We were two couples enjoying a little holiday getaway and would gladly stay at Cedar Haven in the future.

This was an excellent stay, the scenery and atmosphere is very calming and relaxing. I really loved the space and design, the washrooms are very nice & the bed was comfy. Only 1 minor inconvenience was that the inside of the oven was dirty and needed a wipe down. The owners were very easy to connect with and had everything labelled, I loved staying here & would stay here again in the future. Thank you!

Absolutely loved our stay at Marc and Claudia’s stunning, modern cottage in the woods. It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable. the perfect spot to return to after a fun day hiking and exploring the sights in Tobermory. Definitely one of the best VRBOs we have experienced.

We loved your place. Modern design and comfortable furniture. Very nice amenities. Cute bunny visitors each day…kept the lawn looking trim. We enjoyed the boat excursion out to Flowerpot Island and we visited/photographed nearby lighthouses which was our purpose in visiting Tobermory. We would most definitely recommend your property to family and friends.

Cedar Haven truly feels like a home away from home. The atmosphere is calm, quiet, and welcoming—perfect for anyone looking to recharge. The cottage is beautifully decorated, spotless, and very well maintained, which makes the stay extra comfortable. Wonderful Stay in Tobermory

We loved this house! It is one of the nicest and best furnished VRBO houses we have ever stayed in. The setting is very private and is lovely. The house is beautiful, with lots of sunlight. I texted the owner as we were settling in with a question and he was responsive and helpful. It was a wonderful stay.

Beautiful House

If you're looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful house, this will do nicely. Very secluded and quiet but close enough to everything you'd want to do. If hiking and rocky shorelines are your thing, better spend some extra time there...lots of that. There are some "touristy" things to do in town...boat tours, shops, restaurants etc. Tobermory Brew Company was our favorite...lamb burger was excellent. FYI...don't ask for medium or rare burgers. Its apparently a no no with the govt. Overall, good experience...Marc the owner seemed like a geeat guy...very helpful.

A Beautiful and Peaceful Haven

The property is beautiful, clean, peaceful. The chalet is exceptional. The layout is perfect. We congregated in the main living space, kitchen/living room. The kitchen has plenty of space for cooking. The outdoor space is amazing as well. We also enjoyed playing corn hole every night after we returned from daily activities and we used the three decks around the chalet. A 5 STAR property. Great Hosts, can't ask for better.

Perfect getaway

This was our first time in Tobermory and we could not have hoped for a better location. Although it was not a beachfront, we greatly enjoyed the peace and quiet of the forest and the nature surrounding us. The majority of the attractions were within 15-minute driving distance. The check-in and check out were easy. Time flies by when you are at Cedar Haven.

Short stay @ Cedar Haven

Lovely setting , accommodation and facilities. Tobermory and the national park all within easy access. We loved the company of 2 friendly rabbits joining us each morning and evening by the deck .

Cabin in the woods

The cabin is fantastic, beautiful secluded get away. The cabin is close to town yet like you are in the middle of nowhere. The cabin has everything you need. The owner communicates well and makes your stay easy. We will definitely be going back!

Idyllic getaway

A beautiful, incredibly well stocked house in peaceful, beautiful surroundings. My partner and I stayed for a week. We were without a car, and the owner was kind enough to provide bikes for us. The property is in a quiet part of Tobermory, so there isn't that much to do within walking distance, but with a bike or a car, we were within easy distance of some beautiful beaches, the Grotto, and the main Tobermory center with its tour ships, shops, ferry, etc. Once we had access to a car again, we rented kayak/canoes/paddleboards on a nearby (~15 min drive) resort. We also visited Singing Sands Beach, which is stunningly beautiful and very well maintained. We also biked to the Tobermory center and to Dunks Bay. The two water access points within walking distance (the one at Cape Hurd Rd and Sunset Park) have some lovely, peaceful views during the day, but require water shoes if you're planning to go in and get a bit buggy towards the late afternoon. However, since I'm assuming the vast majority of people staying in Tobermory *will* have a car, it's an absolutely lovely place to stay. Astonishingly well stocked kitchen (I usually bring my own cast iron pan to cottages for cooking, but they already had one!), as well as plenty of entertainment options (books, games, puzzles, movies, etc). The owners have been incredibly thoughtful in equipping this place to be a true getaway.

We had a great time, the cottage was amazing, very private and has EVERYTHING you need for a weekend away, it made our stay very convenient and totally felt like home. Would come back again. The owner is very responsive when we needed ANYTHING, and is very kind. Totally worth the money.

We grew up and met on the West Island of Montreal. Following our post-secondary studies, we chose to make southern Ontario our home where we worked in public education over the last decades.

The desire to purchase a piece of land brought us to Tobermory -an area we visited a few times in the past. We fell in love with the natural beauty of the Bruce Peninsula and the feeling of peace, serenity and escape whenever we came to visit.

Derfor er dette overnatningssted unikt

We completed the build of Cedar Haven in 2023 with features of our childhood homes and elements which we both valued in our dream cottage. Having both grown up in Cape Cod-style homes, we wanted the exterior to feature dormers, a sheltered porch and space to sit out to enjoy the outdoors.

The open concept custom home allows all parties to interact with one another, whether sitting on the living room couch, prepping for a meal or sitting at the island with a beverage. The large south-west facing window lets in enough light to limit the need for any artificial lighting and provides a beautiful view to the outdoors in all four seasons. Privacy was a critical element, which is why we cleared a winding driveway, protecting the home from public view.
