Cosy and quiet

The cottage was exactly what I needed. A cosy place in a quiet neighborhood and close enough to Hunter Mountain. The hostess is very responsive and helpful.

cottage getaway

Cottage has ample space inside. Well-heated. Kitchen was very useful. Supermarket was walking distance away. TV has several streaming channels on it. Showerhead should be replaced. Parking space might be a problem if renters next door decide to not cooperate. Overall a good experience

Cozy and Clean Getaway

My friend and I stayed here for a short ski trip and absolutely loved this property! The location was very convenient as everything we needed was within a 20 minute drive or less. It was nice to not be stranded in the middle of nowhere- instead we were local to a cute town with many amenities! We were absolutely blown away by how clean the house was upon our arrival and I can confidently say that nothing was left to be desired. We will be returning for our next trip upstate because Ella's attention to detail and quick response time are unmatched. I can't thank her enough for her generosity, we couldn't have made a better choice staying here!

Nice quiet getaway

My husband and I stayed here for a few days just to get away from the city. There are other houses nearby, but the neighborhood is nice and quiet. The house is clean and stocked with all the essentials. If you need anything else, there is a grocery store within walking distance. There is a Roku box so you can watch streaming tv. I highly recommend a visit to the Catskill Mountain Country Store in Windham for breakfast or lunch! Also a great hiking trail nearby was Kaaterskill falls.

I was there for a week with a friend. We really enjoyed the place everything was neat and clean. During the day we were out to different places. I would definetly go back there next summer. The owner was excellent and very kind and accomodating.

The place was great.

We enjoyed our stay. From rhe creek to Pratt rock, made friends. So now me and my husband are considering moving up here lol. Great experience, we will return.

A lovely getaway

We had a relaxing time at this quiet and clean home. It came with everything a family of four needed to enjoy the weekend. We loved having space to hang out inside and out.

Pictures are deceiving

Overall the cottage is centrally located in the Catskills but the location is not as rural as the pictures depict. The cottage is very clean and the beds are comfortable but there was only 2 bath towels and 1 wash cloth, no toaster or can opener. There was an issue with the hot water heater that made us very nervous. The owner was very cordial and helpful but appears to cut corners whn it comes to maintaining the property.

Hi Cheryl, I hope your review encourages future guests to read description and email communication prior to booking, and ask questions. Here is a part of the email sent to you prior to accepting your booking request: "Please let me know if you reviewed all pictures and description and if you have any questions for me? The main thing to note is that the cabin is not in the woods but in a small town, on a small side street." Here is a part of our listing description: "We are located in town of Prattsville (about 650 residents), on a small dead-end side street. There are houses and neighbors near the cottage as you would see in any other town. We are NOT "in the woods". We are in walking distance from Main Street.” The fact that we are located in town with houses nearby is clearly listed in our description, photos, as well as in the emails we send prior to accepting booking requests. This is also true in regards to what we provide. We do not provide anything that is not listed, and toaster isn't. We encourage guests to ask questions prior to booking if not sure about anything. Hot water is still working, but in response we have made a trip late evening to accommodate you and solved it. Your assumptions as to how I maintain my property are false. It appears that your expectations are high and perhaps booking properties at higher rates would help satisfy your needs.

Great place for a weekend stay to hit the slopes at Windham or Hunter

Spent a Sat night here with very short notice. Owner made it work and considering a big snow storm, really appreciated the effort. Overall, clean place and does the job. Bed was comfortable and kitchen was nice for family of four board games. Would have liked to see some more amenities in house like a toaster oven and some better pans / utensils / paper towels / towels and toilet paper. I would definitely recommend if you need a clean dependable place for the night. My family and I enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for booking with me! I'm happy that you have enjoyed your stay and appreciate your last minute booking. We provide basics to start guests with and recommend bringing favorite pots or pans. We are fortunate in our location that the grocery/supermarket is just a few minutes walk from the cottage in case guests need any additional supplies. We do not have toaster oven due to a high fire hazard issues and insurance. Although we keep it simple we provide very reasonable rates and hope guests appreciate our home vs. motel and enjoy the unique experience of being a part of local community. Thank you very much for taking great care of the place!

Very clean, well-maintained and welcoming!!!

Ella was fantastically accommodating, had great communication with us, and was very kind/informative about anything we had questions about. Her place was very cozy!!! We enjoyed the area, as it was close to a lot of places we were interested in checking out - Kaaterskill Falls, Windham Mountain, a number of stables, and some great places to eat. We recommend the Brie & Bordeaux for a nicer dinner! Loved the sweetness of the little living room with the loving loveseat - adorable. Great money-wise choice. Perfect for one or two couples who want the privacy of their own place but don't want to pay for expensive lodging! Thanks Ella!!

A great Labor Day Holliday!

This was my second time staying in Ella's cottage. There was larger group this time, so we had both bedrooms. First time I was only there with a friend and had one bedroom. Both stays were great. I've also stayed at her Bungalow before that she rents next door. The cottage was very nice and clean. I was at cottage with five of my friends.There was enough space for all of us with two bedrooms. I really enjoyed my stay st Ella's place. Ella was very helpful this time and last time with answering my questions. She told me about some great hiking places and restaurants. I can't wait to stay at one of Ella's places again.

One of my favorite places to stay

I do a lot of travel, especially to the Catskills, and I do not stay anywhere else. I have spent Christmas week in this home and it's one of the best memories I have. The owner is pleasant and diligent with regards to cleanliness and hospitality. Her rental homes reflect this. Whether it's ski season or hiking season, you won't find a better location or a comfier, cozier home. It is central to several well-known ski areas, and the hiking trails in the Catskills are unmatched on the east coast (in my opinion). The trails are the main reason I go so often there--and I've only stayed at this owner's homes. Her use of knick knacks, her seasonally appropriate bedding, smokers, grills, lights--all make for a true home away from home, and I would bet a "better than" home away from home for some. I cannot recommend any better lodging than this.
