Thanks for staying with us, Dan, and for the kind words about the property! Sorry if you didn’t have the best weather — it’s been a very non-typical Minnesota summer. Check-in went smoothly and we didn’t hear of any concerns during your stay, so we’re really curious where we could have done better to earn a 10/10. We’ve recently added a brand-new bedroom for extra comfort, as well as an outdoor shower with hot and cold water that guests have been loving. The lake is also known for some of the best fishing in the area, and many enjoy the sandy-bottom swimming area along with our 100 ft dock equipped with buoys and bumpers. We’d love to welcome you back and hopefully give you a true sunny Minnesota lake week next time!

Winter is truly magical here — the lake is one of the best around for ice fishing, and the nearby snowmobile trails make for endless adventure. We’re glad your family enjoyed the amenities — from the fully stocked kitchen (including the sharp knives and variety of cookware) to the grill, pool table, and games. The local wineries and breweries, like Carlos Creek with their excellent pizza, and The Mercantile just down the road, make for perfect rainy-day outings and are always guest favorites. We have to admit, we’re a little sad to see an 8/10 since everything sounded positive in your review, but we truly appreciate the feedback and hope to earn that 10/10 on your next stay. Since your visit, we’ve added even more for our guests to enjoy — including a new Tesla charger, updated appliances, exterior improvements, a new roof, and other major upgrades throughout the property. On top of that, we’ve added a brand-new bedroom for extra comfort and an outdoor shower with hot and cold water that so many guests love after a day on the lake. Our 100 ft dock has buoys and bumpers, the sandy-bottom swimming area is weed-free and perfect for kids, and the lake itself is one of the best fishing lakes around. Thank you so much for the 10/10 score and for sharing your detailed feedback! I’m very sorry the weather didn’t cooperate during your week here. The water at the dock is excellent for kiddos — it’s a clean sandy bottom with no weeds, just as described — and while it does get a little shallower toward the end of summer, the lake itself is one of the best fishing lakes around. Fishing is fantastic from a boat, and we also offer a pontoon rental for guests who’d like to get out on the water. Our 100 ft dock is equipped with buoys and bumpers, and many visitors bring their own 20–25 ft boats without issue (just trim up when docking). On the comfort side, because of the massive ceilings, large windows, and loft design of our log cabin, central air isn’t possible without taking away from its character. Instead, we have three large mini-splits that keep the main living areas cool (a best practice in log homes), and leaving the bedroom doors open helps circulate air throughout the home in the heat of summer. We do have two bathrooms, including a very nice soaking tub, and we have plans to convert the main floor soaking tub into a third shower soon. We’re so sad you weren’t able to enjoy the outdoor rain shower — so many of our guests this summer have absolutely loved it! We also appreciate your positive notes about the kitchen and grill — the cabin has a spacious kitchen, rooms, and touts excellent refrigerator/freezer space and a well-maintained grill that guests really enjoy. We’re glad you and your family enjoyed the sandy beach, kayaks, pool table, and that your pets could join too.
