About this space
Pura Vida’s English translation means “pure life” or “simple life", however it's more than just a phrase- it is a way of life. ... Costa Ricans (Ticos) use this term to say hello, goodbye, or even to let people know everything's good!

This comfy and newly remodeled condo is a surfer’s paradise w white water view from the living room and a 30-second walk to the waves.

The shower system is an experience of its own. The kitchen boasts a Homie yet modern touch w natural wood materials.
The space
The living room has a chic red couch set. There is a beautiful electric fireplace and a 70” Samsung tv w all the best apps.

The kitchen has brand new stainless steel appliances and brand new cabinetry. Motion sensor kitchen faucet, Designer dishes, silverware, and pots and pans. Natural materials add to the Costa Rican vibe. And of course, Costa Rican coffee is free for guests.

The bedroom has a super comfy queen size bed and retro wooden chest of drawers.

The bathroom has a brand new sink and cabinetry and includes an amazing shower fixture experience.
Guest access
The building has bikes you can use to get around and also there are tons scooters to rent etc. Parking can be challenging, but there are several options. Once you’re in mission beach, people often find no need for a vehicle.

Good communication from property manager. Location provided easy access to beach and bikes provided made it easy to get around. Everything was as described with no issues at all.

The beach is less than one block away! You can see it from the entrance and LR window. The locals (and their dogs) whom you'll begin to recognize and eventually conversate with are open and welcoming. I felt safe w/ good Uber experiences and riding the included bikes on the boardwalk. Like they day, "location location location." Highly recommended *****

Great location!!

Listening stated couch pulled out to a bed was not the case the next day we found out an air mattress was in a chest for use other than that everything was as listed accurately. if we had older kids could have been an issue.

Wonderful location a block from the beach. Lots of restaurants & market/liquor store within walking distance. Space was clean and essentials available (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, sufficient toilet paper, shaving cream). Provided coffee & refillable container of filtered water were great. It looked like the basics for cooking were there. Beach towels were helpful but we kept wishing there were lawn chairs to take to the beach - and then right before left, we discovered a stack of chairs (apparently for communal use) in the hallway further past our unit! Fancy shower was confusing - short people might get a face full of water when turning it on. Unit is on the 2nd floor up a steep flight of stairs. Bed was comfortable (some kind of memory foam) but did get hot at night. We left the windows open, but it was extremely noisy with late-night partiers on the weekend. It's also difficult for the breeze to come in through the windows when the black-out curtains are closed. I recommend requesting that the window A/C be installed for your stay. We borrowed a car for two of the days we were there. Street parking was hit or miss in terms of availability and there are varying time restrictions (ex: 2 hour limit except 8pm-10am Mon-Sat) that made it difficult. We didn't get a chance to use the communal bikes but appreciated the option. There's also a bus stop down the street. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed our stay!

We’re glad you enjoyed the location, being just a block from the beach with so many restaurants and shops nearby is one of the things guests love most. It’s great to hear the home was well stocked with essentials and that the beach towels, coffee, and filtered water added to your stay. Thank you as well for the helpful notes. We’ll make the beach chairs more visible so future guests don’t miss them, and we’ll take another look at the shower setup to make it more user-friendly. We also always recommend guests reach out ahead of time if they’d like the window A/C installed, as that can make a big difference depending on personal preference. Being in a lively beach neighborhood, there can be some weekend activity, but many guests enjoy the energy and proximity to everything. For those sensitive to noise, we’re always happy to provide tips or solutions in advance. We’re glad you had a great overall stay and would love to host you again anytime!

Mission Beach is incredibly special for the following reasons: At any given time, you're one block from the Beautiful Pacific Ocean and San Diego's famed and exciting boardwalk AND Peaceful and Gorgeous Mission Bay. It's the best of both worlds. Also, Mission Beach has Belmont Park and is just south of Pacific Beach and La Jolla, so a bike ride north or south guarantees a plethora of great restaurants, bars, shops, and scenic views.

PURA VIDA is a mini trip to one of my favorite destinations: Costa Rica. I love to go there to surf. I've been there 20 times. This unit has an ocean view of the waves. I carefully selected and shipped authentic artifacts from Costa Rica for this unit. In addition to the decor, I made a huge effort to make the unit super comfortable and have all the amenities.
