Beautiful location. Enjoyed watching the wild turkeys every morning from the deck. Well equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals. Terrific base camp for exploring the beautiful San Juans!

Secluded off the main road pet friendly cabin close to Purgatory and downtown Durango. Not far from Durango Hot Springs. We enjoyed the front deck and the quiet location. Dean was super responsive and went out of his way to help us with a car issue. Our dog loved being outside and we all enjoyed the turkeys that visited every day! Very clean! We really enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely fabulous location and cabin with all the amenities. It’s pet friendly but certainly not ‘pet worn’ like some might think. Even if you don’t have pets this is a very nice and comfortable place to stay! Loved the wildlife (turkeys) around the property!

We enjoyed our stay at this property and would book again in the future. The house was comfortable and close proximity to Haviland Lake was a plus. Easy check-in and good communication with the host as well.

Great host and facility. Very close to Chris park group campground and wedding. Would like to see a taller toilet in downstairs bathroom. Hard on the knees. Great place.

We loved the location and set up of this home. The area was very quiet, close to hiking and fishing, but also close to shopping and restaurants. We loved having burgers and shopping at the James R Ranch. The deck at the house was lovely and we also enjoyed having so many bathrooms. We did know that the home was pet friendly from the listing, but as non-pet people, we did notice some animal fur on the living room the rug and furniture. People with bad allergies may want to check with the owner about cleaning before their stay. The owner was very prompt with any questions we had.

We spent the first week of October at Dean's cabin and it was everything we expected... and more! Plenty of room for 4 adults and 1 dog. The cabin is cozy and well taken care of, with all the amenities needed for a relaxing trip. The gate on the deck offered a great, safe place for our Greta. We spent every evening on the deck staring at the stars and were blessed with an unexpected meteor shower. Amazing! We were a little sad to not use the fireplace, but the weather was perfect all week. This cabin is an excellent base camp for exploring the San Juan Mountains and the quaint towns surrounding them. We didn't see the elk; however, the daily march of the turkey was great fun. Lots of birds, chipmunks and squirrels to keep the young at heart entertained. Oh, and Wal Mart will deliver to the cabin, so don't worry about hauling all of your food in the car! Dean was great to work with and always quick to respond. We had a mechanical issue with our truck, and he was kind enough to get us in touch with someone he trusted. Much appreciated!All in all, it was a wonderful trip! Ride the train, drive the Million Dollar Highway and stare at the stars. Thanks, Dean!

Very cozy cabin. Mountains all around us and we enjoyed seeing the wild turkeys that ventured out every morning!The proximity to Purgatory Ski Resort was wonderful. And, being approximately 20 miles from downtown Durango was an added bonus.The owner was very helpful with any questions we had!I would highly recommend staying here for your next Colorado adventure!

We enjoyed a wonderful time at the cabin. The location is ideal, close to hiking trails, lakes and the Purgatory Ski Resort.We really enjoyed the views and the quietness. The only downside was the lack of snow when we stayed, but something no one could have predicted. The nearby trails and hot springs offered a wonderful compromise that our teen enjoyed as well.

Perfect for Purgatory!

Easy access to everything in the area, but feels remote and private! Lovely views, comfy and cozy- and the host was the most friendly and helpful I’ve ever dealt with- we’ll be back!

Tranquility in the Mountains

This cabin was clean, well furnished and just a short drive to Durango and the hot springs spa. Very quiet area and the fall foliage was stunning. We grilled several times and enjoyed sitting on the deck by the fire pit.

Great location, clean property

Love this house! Beautiful views, clean, 10-mins to get to slopes and 20-mins from downtown. Dean was so kind and went above and beyond for our family! Looking forward to our next stay. 5out of 5 recommend staying here.

We enjoyed the cabin and the location. The stairs from the garage to the living area are on the narrow side. We had to use them to get our luggage in the cabin as the outside stairs to the deck and living level were not usable due to the gate needing repairs at the top. Three of the four of us were in our 70's but fortunately not using walkers. The restaurant at the golf course down the road was absolutely excellent but slightly pricey. The Durango-Silverton train was a gorgeous ride and a must. We took the option of riding back down on the bus for less cost. The bus was very cramped for the 90 minute ride so you may want to ride the train. Beautiful area. Go to Haviland Lake in the evening. Gorgeous!

Thank you John!!! I didn't realize the gate needed repair so appreciate the heads up!! I agree, the train is best to take both ways but board at Rockwood so when you get off, you are 5 minutes from our cabin. Come back and see us!!!

Beautiful mountain home in a great location! We spent a fabulous weekend with friends hiking, cooking and hanging by the fire as several storms came through. The colors were spectacular and the house was fully stocked. Dean was incredibly helpful and responsive. Will definitely be back!
