The beach at Ipanema became known internationally with the popularity of the bossa nova song, "The Girl from Ipanema" ("Garota de Ipanema"), written by Antônio Carlos Jobim (Fun Fact: he lived in the same location as our building). Staying here is experiencing a part of history! Ipanema invites travelers with its iconic beach, stretching endlessly into the horizon, where beautiful and bronzed bodies celebrating life embrace the sun's warm caress. Ipanema captures the quintessential spirit of Brazil, with a vibrant mosaic of cultures and flavors that dance through its streets and cafes to paint a vivid picture of the nation's rich heritage. From the rhythmic beats of samba echoing through the night to the kaleidoscope of colors in the markets, the inviting atmosphere fosters connections with locals who welcome you into their world. In Ipanema, every sunset is a masterpiece, every meal a culinary adventure, and every moment an enchanting story waiting to be written.

Why would you NOT want to book a stay with OBO Casa?

1) Our unit is loft-style, with an open layout. The bathroom is closed with a curtain (not a wall), and is transparent to sound. For some guests, this might not be comfortable or ideal.

2) The space is ~48㎡ (unsuitable for groups). Our property is intended for solo travelers and couples (with 1-2 children max). Guests under 18 must check-in with a parent or guardian.

3) Parties are not allowed. It is a private home, with personal belongings of sentimental value for the owner. So, if you want a location for your next crazy group gathering, this is not for you.

4) Local laws (and building security rules) mandate identity verification for all guests. We cannot fully confirm any reservations until this step is complete. Our neighbors and staff thank you!

5) We charge a $40 (200 BRL) fee to compensate our cleaning staff and a separate 15% tourism tax (to comply with government regulations) - these fees are not included in the nightly rate.

We strongly recommend using Uber. It will be easy, fast, convenient, and affordable. Using public transit from this airport is slow & complicated.

From Santos Dumont (SDU) Airport:

With Metro, walk to Cinelândia and take the L1-L4 toward Jardim Oceânico / Barra da Tijuca. 16 min (9 stops) later, you will arrive at General Osorio station.

Walk to the northwest intersection of Rua (Street) Teixeira de Melo and Visconde de Pirajá. From there, walk north until you arrive at Barão da Torre.

Note that this corner is the exit of a favela - it will feel unsafe but don't worry, there is a police car stationed there 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

From there, walk west and halfway down the block, you'll arrive at Bossa 107.

If your plane lands after midnight, we strongly suggest using Uber, since the Metro does not operate between the hours of 12:00 - 5:00 AM.
