Thank you for your honest feedback, and we sincerely apologize again for the experience your group had with the mayflies during your stay. We completely understand how overwhelming and frustrating that situation was, especially during such an important weekend together. We truly appreciate your kind words about our staff and are glad the team was able to respond quickly once we became aware of the severity of the issue by helping clean up the bugs, replace linens, offer alternate accommodations, provide golf carts, and issue a refund of $675 plus tax in an effort to make things right. We also want to sincerely apologize if our conversation afterward came across the wrong way in any manner. It was never our intention to make you feel dismissed, doubted, or unheard. We were simply trying to understand how such a large number of mayflies entered the cabin so we could address and prevent it moving forward. We certainly never intended to imply that you or your group were being dishonest, and we are very sorry if it came across that way. In all honesty, we have never had a situation this severe happen before in this cabin, which is why we were so surprised by the amount of mayflies that entered overnight. Unfortunately, mayflies can occasionally become extremely heavy on the island during certain weather conditions near the lake, but we fully understand that does not make the situation any less upsetting or inconvenient for your group. Bert, We appreciate your feedback and certainly wish you would have called during your stay so we could have made things right. We have a full staff on the island that is available to assist if something is amiss. Our goal is to work hard so you can enjoy your vacation. We had a rough group staying in that property right before your stay and unfortunately we did not have the time to get a contractor to the island for repairs before the quick turnaround. Our housekeeping manager met with the team member responsible for cleaning your unit and performed some retraining. If we are lucky enough to earn your business in the future, our office staff would be happy to hand-select a house that would meet your standards.
