Welcome to The Dogwood Cottage — a thoughtfully designed 2-bedroom, 2-bath retreat in one of Winston-Salem’s most convenient locations.
You know that vacation rental you hope will be just as beautiful in person as it looks online? This is that house.
No detail has been overlooked. We appreciate the finer things in life and believe you should be able to enjoy them while traveling, too. The cottage blends historic character with elevated comforts, including Persian rugs, antiques, designer furnishings, high-quality linens and a true chef’s kitchen with a Bertazzoni gas range, cast-iron cookware and, yes, actually sharp knives.
Spend the morning with coffee on the covered front porch, relax with a book on the outdoor sofa, or grill dinner on the large second-story deck before walking to a Winston-Salem Dash game. The home is equally suited for a weekend getaway, a visit to Wake Forest or WSSU, or an extended stay near Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.
Both bedrooms are spacious primary suites, each with a king-size bed and private en-suite bathroom. Beds are made with 100% cotton sheets, down pillows and lightweight gauze quilts, with additional blankets, quilts and linens available in the second-bedroom closet.
The first bathroom features herringbone tile, heated floors, a console sink and a beautiful clawfoot soaking tub. The second en-suite bath features an oversized walk-in shower, original hardwood floors and a thoughtfully selected vanity.
The home is stocked with bath amenities including Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner, Everyone body wash and lotion, along with the essentials you need for a comfortable stay.
And then there’s the location. The cottage is walkable to restaurants, bars, coffee shops, Old Salem and Truist Stadium, while still providing the privacy and comfort of a full home.

We loved our stay at The Cottage in Winston-Salem! The house is charming and the host was incredibly helpful. She checked in via text several times to make sure we were happy, comfortable, and had everything we needed. She even gave several restaurant and coffee shop recs which were all great! We give this rental our highest recommendation and plan to come back every year.

Alexandria was a gem! So easy to communicate with! Her place is amazing! Clean, well stocked with everything a traveler would need and more! Beds and pillows are super comfortable! Great location to downtown, campus and any sports complex! Kitchen is well stocked for the cook in the family! I would 100% stay again next time I am in WS. I instantly felt like I was in a home away from home!

This was the best VRBO experience I’ve ever had! This property is lovely with every detail carefully curated and in place. We stayed with family and enjoyed all the areas to sit and talk including coffee on the enclosed porch, and late evening conversations in the family room. We made dinner and ate on the back deck. The kitchen was well-appointed and easy to use. The beds were extremely comfortable and we all commented on the good sleep we got. Even the smallest detail was thought of - the best pillows ever!

Highly recommend for a stay in Winston Salem. Great location. Immaculately maintained. Comfortable, clean and perfect for our stay. We loved the back deck. Alexandra is a great host.

Incredible Home
Alexandra is an attentive host and quick communicator. This home is well above expectations with everything you need. Amazing decor with updates to make you feel at home and well cared for. Excellent location and home base for visiting wineries and other points of interest. Enjoyed creating memories and would love to visit again.

Exceeded Expectations
We stayed at the cottage for univ graduation weekend and were super satisfied with the accommodations. From the tasteful decor, the amount of space and the thoughtful amenities - the choice exceeded our expectations. The owner was responsive and transparent in her communications. All around a great experience!

Thanksgiving weekend Tues - Sat
Immaculately clean, high end up to date kitchen appliances, plumbing \ shower facilities, delightful ambiance, and definitely an overall high end rental property!
Owner was immediately available, helpful and friendly, assisted with temperature control from a distance, and could not have been more accommodating with any questions or concerns should they have occurred.
Would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone as a comfortable safe lovely home to rent.

This house was absolutely beautiful! The master bedrooms & bathrooms were cozy, romantic & incredibly comfortable! We loved cooking dinner every night, the kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed to prepare great meals! The lighting throughout the home was perfect & made every space feel bright & welcoming!Although our stay was rainy & cold, we still enjoyed the backyard deck whenever the sun peeked out, it was a lovely spot to relax! I was initially a little concerned about street parking, but it ended up working out perfectly with no issues at all!We visit Winston often & this property will definitely be at the top of our list moving forward instead of the hotels we’ve stayed at in the past. The home truly felt homey, comfortable & easy to settle into! We would happily stay here again!

Great house in a very convenient neighborhood. Easy access to downtown and also to west side restaurants (which are excellent). Great communication from Alexandra, who checked in daily and also gave great neighborhood recommendations. We had a wonderful stay!

I’ve always loved beautiful homes, thoughtful design, great food, and the little details that make a place feel special. For me, hosting is about creating the kind of stay I hope to find when I travel — comfortable, polished, welcoming, and filled with character.
I’m especially drawn to historic homes and love preserving what makes them unique while adding the comforts and finishes that make a stay feel effortless. Winston-Salem has so much charm, and I enjoy giving guests a beautiful home base for experiencing the city, whether they’re visiting for a weekend, a university event, work, or time with family.
More than anything, I want guests to walk in and feel that the home is every bit as lovely and cared for as they hoped it would be.

I chose this neighborhood because it offers one of my favorite combinations in Winston-Salem: historic character, walkability, and easy access to so much of the city. I love being able to walk to Old Salem, Truist Stadium, local restaurants, coffee shops and downtown, while still coming home to a charming residential setting.
The area has a wonderful mix of old homes, tree-lined streets and an evolving food and arts scene, and it feels distinctly Winston-Salem rather than like a generic tourist area. I especially love that guests can park the car and experience so much on foot, whether they’re here for a weekend getaway, a Dash game, Wake Forest, WSSU, or a visit to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.

The Dogwood Cottage combines the character of a historic Winston-Salem home with the details and comforts of a thoughtfully designed boutique stay. Rather than furnishing it simply as a rental, I’ve approached the home the way I would my own — with Persian rugs, antiques, original hardwoods, quality linens, beautiful bathrooms and a true chef’s kitchen with a Bertazzoni gas range.
Both bedrooms are generous king suites with their own private en-suite bathrooms, which makes the cottage especially comfortable for two couples, friends traveling together, or longer stays. Guests also have multiple places to relax, from the covered front porch to the large second-story deck.
What makes it most special to me is that it feels collected rather than decorated. It has history, warmth and personality, while still offering the conveniences you want when traveling. My goal has always been for guests to walk in and feel that the home is even better in person than they expected.
