We were as surprised as we were disappointed to receive this review. We work hard to exceed guest expectations, and until this review, via all booking sites, over many years we have received only 5-star reviews. We can only think that this below-par rating and the comment about cookware, which was not made until 2 weeks after this guest’s departure, is more to do with some feeling of perceived injustice at our request that she pay a supplement for her 2 extra guests. (We charge by occupancy.) The guest paid for 6 guests but at the last minute she expected that 8 guests could be at the villa at no extra charge. We requested a small supplement which the guest said, ‘we will gladly pay’, before adding ‘we’re looking forward to a great vacation’. Another reason we were so taken-aback by her complaints weeks after her departure, was because her comments in this review are at odds with all her interactions with us during her 5-night stay. This guest was in regular contact via WhatsApp. From first day’s ‘’All is wonderful’ to departure day when we offered a later check-out: “Oh, that would be wonderful to stay here till our …. pickup”. By contrast, please see the review below, posted by guests who were at the villa the fortnight before; A wonderful stay at The White House, left on Mar 18, 2019 for a stay in Feb 2019 The White House exceeded our expectations. The villa was beautiful and very spacious - our group was 4 adults and 6 children and we had plenty of room to spread out. The housekeepers were wonderful and prepared many delicious breakfasts and authentic Dominican meals for us. The pool/grounds were very well-kept and we loved how the beach club (restaurant) and community pools were within a few minutes walk as well. Sea Horse Ranch is well-located -- a short distance to both Cabarete and Sosua downtowns/beaches. ….. We had a wonderful, memorable vacation and highly recommend a visit to the Puerto Plata area and a stay at The White House! In conclusion, we do not believe there was an issue with cookware. Surely if there had been, this guest could have brought it to our attention during her stay. This guest maintained contact after she returned home, asking when her damage deposit would be returned, although this is clearly stated on her reservation as per Homeaway’s policy. The day after this was returned to her by Homeaway, she posted her review.
