Stay in an authentic 1823 post-and-beam framed Federal style rural farmhouse.

Relax and reflect in an 1823 farmhouse with an 1880s kitchen addition. Located on a quiet paved road in the township of Kiantone, New York, in Chautauqua County, the states' westernmost county, this is a place where history and nature can be studied and enjoyed. Rooms are restored to their best original look and furnished with antique reproductions suitable to the houses' time. The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances for those who like to cook and bake on their own. Cups, mugs, plates, silverware, etc., are provided. Rooms are heated by clean natural gas heaters, augmented by a Vermont Castings Resolute Acclaim fireviewing woodstove which guests may use if desired. A quantity of seasoned firewood is kept in the attached woodshed for this use. A modest library of interesting and classical books is on hand for your quiet enjoyment. We have 23 acres of land for your hiking and exercising needs. No, the house is not haunted, so far as we know!
Come to Western New York to enjoy the beautiful and crisp September and October weather! Local Autumn Festivals abound, including the Fall Festivals in Ellicottville and Peak-n-Peak ski areas, the Busti Apple Harvest Festival, the Harmony Historical Society History Fair, and many other truly Americana events. We hope that you too may enjoy the reasons we live here!

We had a great experience at this property!! The house was exactly like listed. Lyle and Nancy were the best. I got to connect with my school friend Nancy. That was a nice added surprise!!

Quaint Grtaway

This quaint little house has been decorated to reflect its time frame…so for history buffs it was fun to look around at everything. It still had the modern touches to make our stay very comfortable. Our hosts were great and very helpful when needed.

It was the perfect place for our family, just a few houses down from my Grandma’s old house. We enjoyed walking the yard, sitting outside reading a book and hanging out with family inside. We were close to everywhere we wanted to go. Exceptional care from our host.

Relaxing getaway

We enjoyed the farmhouse charm and the peace and quiet of the setting. We also appreciate the character of “old” and found the house both rustic and comfortable. For our purposes the location was good and accessible for where we wanted to go. Hosts were welcoming and responsive and overall it was a good stay

What a lovely experience. The owners have restored the house and furnished it with period antiques, which the hosts assured us are to be used, not treated as museum pieces. The total experience is cozy and welcoming. Although only a few minutes from downtown Jamestown, the setting is completely rural and quiet.

I'm a return visitor, this time in nearly fall, and my experience was as joyful as the first. Enjoyed their Apple Festival, the almost changing leaves, the Hoot Owl on chilly mornings AND saw the local Black Bear!

I really liked how rural and secluded the property was, but was only 10 minutes travel from downtown Jamestown. The hosts were very friendly and I enjoyed getting up in the morning and watching the rabbits eat apples under the trees right outside the kitchen window. My only regret is not having more time to explore the house and property, there is so much history to be discovered. I absolutely plan on returning and experiencing it during the fall and winter seasons. Highly recommended!

The venue was centrally located to so many things to do. We enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. It felt like staying in Colonial Williamsburg. Our hosts couldnt have been nicer and thought of every comfort. There were so many special touches from getting a toasty fire started in the woodstove, a sprinkler of water for the plants we purchased, Birthday card and muffins for Mark and suggestions about places to go and things to do. We would definitely recommend this venue to our friends, family or anyone else. Thanks for recommending the rodeo. It was great.

Thirteen days of quiet comfort with pleasurable distractions that filled the soul with laughter and contentment. Hosts were warm, welcoming and generous with their time and their Blueberries! Peaceful Retreat for History Lovers

I initially booked this stay for just the solar eclipse. What I ended up with was a relaxing vacation. Not only was the property exactly like the listing, but Lyle and Nancy were the greatest hosts anyone could've asked for. They gave us awesome recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Before I knew it our weekend was filled with more activities than I had expected or anticipated. The property itself is gorgeous. They lovingly restored the beautiful historic farmhouse. I'd wake up in the morning and watch the bluebirds nesting outside the bedroom window. Lyle and Nancy also welcomed us to explore their 22 acre property. There are plenty of books to read, and Nancy has left us some games... we "unplugged" for the weekend and were able to get a much needed recharge. They both are members of a local historic society, so don't forget to ask them about the area!

Property was beautiful. Location great. Toilet very low. Not ideal if you have knee problems. Tub difficult to get in again if you have knee problems. So many beautiful antiques in the house and you can touch and use anything

The hosts were extremely nice and helpful. Loved getting the history of the place. I wish I had more time to enjoy the house and the grounds (we had events to do during the day and really only slept there), I hope to get back there for another stay.

A fantastic place to visit.and to go back in history of the United States. The home was built in 1820’s with modern air conditioning, microwave, stove and modern bathroom. But outfitted with 19 th artifacts throughout the home. The host are wonderful people. It is easily accessible to Jamestown and Chautauqua Lake. We had a wonderful time.

The cottage was exactly what we expected. Our host Nan and Lyle were amazing. They were there when we arrived showed us around and gave us many ideas of places to visit and explore . Which we did! I highly recommend a trip to Jamestown. It is truly beautiful country, with lots of wonderful hiking areas with some history involved. Plenty of other history. A must see and stay!
