We’re Francisco Javier Gonzalez and Angel Beato, your hosts here in Oakland.

Francisco is a Cuban attorney who is now an aspiring interior designer after working in the legal field for over 30 years.

Angel has had an extensive practice as a therapist; now he works for Kaiser Foundation in different capacities. He is originally from Spain.

We divide our time between the Bay Area, Miami and Malaga, Spain. Please consider staying with us at our other apartments, in Oakland we have El Nido, a luxury one-bedroom, El Refugio, a cozy studio and The Victorian Oasis, another luxury 1-bedroom, they are all in the same property, which is located only 7 blocks away from Lake Merritt. In Malaga we have a luxury 2-bedrooms apartment in the city center. Malaga is the hidden gem of the South of Spain, while a short drive from Sevilla, Cordova and Granada, it’s the capital city of the Spanish Costa del Sol and a wonderful place to visit.

Oakland has become one of the youngest cities in all California. Young professionals prefer it not only because is substantially less expensive than our famous neighboring city, but also because it offers the most flavorful array of entertainment and eateries of the entire area at a fraction of what your pay across the Bay.

In terms of the neighborhood where your apartment is located, true diversity is the first phrase that comes to mind when trying to define “Fruitvale District” (name of this section of town). People of different ethnicities, backgrounds and ages coexist peacefully. It’s only a short drive/bike or an economical uber-ride from the crown joule of the city, the Lake Merritt, a place with magnificent views and architecture were Oaklanders gather for farmers’ market, strolling, salsa-dancing, acro-yoga, jogging, celebrating life, etc.

Fruitvale is the Latino neighborhood of Oakland. Not far from apartment, nearing intersections of Fruitvale at Foothill Blvd and/or Fruitvale at International there is a countless number of Salvadoran, Mexican and Guatemalan restaurants and bakeries. They are all very humble and down-to-earth establishments. The food is excellent, but the ambiance is tailored to working class folks; if that fits your standards, you’ll have a very pleasant experience. If you are more into trendy places, Downtown Oakland will suit you best.

We nicknamed our listing "The Eden in the East Bay", and you'll probably wonder why?

Well, because that is literally what we offer. The house this apartment is part of was built in 1937 and although completely renovated to fit the comforts and conveniences of the modern living, we made an effort to preserve all its original layout and features. The special quality of the old times as well as the character with which craftsmen built up to the first half of the XX century is very worth preserving.

Our flat comes with washer and dryer, which is a desirable, yet completely exceptional amenity that any short-term rental rarely has. It has many other qualities, but, what makes it closer to an Eden is our private, fully fenced back yard that is for your exclusive enjoyment. Oakland is gifted with over 280 sunny days a year. This place will be your piece of heaven. It also comes with BBQ in case you want to indulge in the pleasure of smoked food. The store to get all your BBQ needs is only 1.5 blocks away.
