Great place to stay, check in and out was incredibly easy. Kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and cutlery. Towels and wash clothes were provided and neatly folded in both bedrooms. Personal ac and heaters in both bedrooms and extra linens and blankets were readily available. 10/10 would definitely recommend staying here.

The rental was just as described in both the pictures and host's description as well. The rooms were clean and had great natural lighting, the place was spacious, the closets were huge, the shower was great, and extra bits like laundry detergent were included. The rental sits just off of a somewhat main street - vehicle and foot traffic noise present but seldomly attention grabbing. We enjoyed our stay. If you find yourself needing to be Oakland and are looking for a place to shower and sleep, this place will do just fine.

Home was clean. Sheets weren’t comfortable. One bedroom had 3 cigarette lighters on the floor by the bed. Kitchen needed better supplies. Overall was a nice place to stay.

Comfortable and convenient

The property was clean. All amenities worked great. Beds were comfortable. Very conveniently located to Berkeley and SF. We were able to park our car in the driveway behind a locked gate. The only limitation for some may be that you must climb outside stairs to get to the rental.

Positives: the host was very responsive and respectful and addressed concerns . There were plenty of dishes and cutlery and having an air conditioner/ heater in each bedroom is nice. The unit is gated and locked which feels safe and private. Negative: In the effort to be transparent so others can make informed decisions . Unfortunately, our experience with this unit was very different from what was portrayed in the listing photos. After arriving and spending the night, we noticed multiple concerns including a strong odor in the home, visible water damage and deterioration throughout the property, damaged electrical outlets that did not feel safe to use, and windows without proper locks. The condition of the home appeared significantly more worn and neglected than expected. The host was polite and did agree to refund the unused nights after we communicated our concerns, which we appreciated. However, we ultimately did not feel comfortable or safe continuing our stay and checked out early. I would encourage the host to address the maintenance and safety issues, as the property has potential to be really cute and nice but currently does not match the condition presented in the listing. I would encourage people to ask about repairs before writing the property off because like I said , it has a lot of beautiful potential

Price was too high for the quality of the bed and bath linens, furniture (minimal) and amenities. Apt and bathroom were clean but worn and could use a facelift. On a very busy street with a lot of street and traffic noise. The condition of the place overall was somewhat rundown. Bottom line - it was ok but, overpriced for the quality and location. Owner/host was on top of everything- all instructions were clear and we had zero complaints about the level and frequency of communication.

Location and off street parking excellent. Property very clean. Good communication from owner. Building is very old with super creaky floors and not all windows latch, so locking gate was appreciated and I felt safe. Building updates where it counts made it cozy. Beds were comfy and AC works well. Will say street noise was significant & a few howling dogs nearby so if you are light sleeper it will be bothersome, but I travel with a sound machine and with it on, did fine. Would stay again.

The washing machine had a broken door which didn't get fixed until the day we left. The hard wood floors were pretty grimy, and two of the chairs were missing bolts for the legs, making them unsafe to sit in. The people living downstairs have dogs which howl like crazy at times. The stairs to access the unit are in the back and there is no lighting at all outside, which made the return home at night treacherous because there's no designated path to the unit. You just have to walk along pieces of concrete, glass, and dirt to get to the unit. Unsafe at best

It was good for the price but we didn’t have internet or access to tv first day and it is noisy and I tried to not let that effect my rating as I’m from Oakland but just wanted to be honest about noise from downstairs neighbors is always an issue at VRBO but I was t happy with lack of help of internet in a timely manner and no discount was offered for the trouble.

The place was very spacious and very clean but the property itself is a bit run down and as another review noted had a musty odor although that seemed to get a little better after a few days. Although on the second floor, the fact some windows did not latch was a bit of a concern. Gated parking was a key feature for the neighborhood. On the plus side, nice shower, kitchen and laundry. Comfortable sleeping. Very walkable - to BART and grocery. Reasonable price.
