This is a beautiful, very special property, so happy we stayed in Hancock. Easy drive to Bar Harbor and all parts of Acadia but away from the crowds. Easy access to beauty of Schoodic Peninsula, too. We felt like we were in the coziest of cottages, had everything we needed, super comfortable beds, just a perfect place right on the water. Would absolutely stay here again, thank you to a great host, Susan was wonderful to work with!

Wonderful stay! We wanted to escape our busy lives for a few days. Hoped for a quiet, peaceful and scenic place- that’s exactly what we got. Enjoyed coffee while looking out at the mountain and water. Had everything we needed. Wish we could’ve stayed longer! Communication was great, too. Would book this place again!

We had a great stay. Property was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Rustic with modern conveniences. Communication with the host was excellent. If we ever come back this way we would definitely stay again.

Very charming property with a quiet, serene setting. You get to spend your morning drinking coffee watching the lobster boats make their rounds. Bring binoculars and you may see harbor seals eating breakfast or dinner as well.

My husband and I loved our weeklong stay at this small well-equipped home overlooking the sparkling water, the lobster men at work, the beautiful seabirds, and the amazing tides. We loved the quiet and solitude but also enjoyed the numerous nearby hikes, excellent seafood, and scenic views/local history. The bedrooms and living room were clean and comfortable; the kitchen was perfect for two of us. The deck and fire pit were ideal for appreciating our surroundings. Our host, Susan, was attentive and available if needed. We were grateful for the opportunity to use the washer/dryer for clean clothes. We will miss Maine and plan to return.

Thank you for allowing us to spend a week in paradise! The house was clean and comfortable, supplied to meet all our needs, and the communication with the host was wonderful always with a kind and quick response. We enjoyed sitting outside taking in the gorgeous view, making s’mores over the fire and watching the seal swim. It was our first time to Maine and these accommodations were truly fantastic!! We will certainly return someday.

We loved our stay here! Close enough to everything, but a quiet retreat at the end of the day. We stayed with our toddlers (check with the host for young kids), and it was a great spot for outdoor education - we spent a lot of time on the rocks exploring and learning. The host is a rental agency so they were very prompt and professional with communication. I would recommend confirming ahead of time if you are counting on any kid amenities - we were able to rent an extra pack-and-play super easily! Overall 10/10 would recommend, would stay again.

The view is amazing! A lot of wildlife, was even able to watch a seal in the water most days! We had an issue with the door latching and locking initially, however, this was fixed the next day. Kitchen had everything that was needed. Shower could use some work but had good water pressure. Cabin had air conditioners and kept cool on hot days. Truly a special stay and not too far to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Enjoyed having privacy without sharing the immediate area. Spacious outdoor area!

This property was everything we wanted: Somewhat remote-on the Maine coast-beautiful views (I mean awesome views)-saw seals, deer, and birds-not cost a king's ransom to rent. We loved the quiet, peaceful location. The accommodations were clean and neat and the kitchen was well stocked. The best part was a stocked firewood bin. This location has a nice little fire pit area, which is very common in a lot of places, but his place had a supply of CUT firewood available to use. Even though we only had one fire and only used a few pieces, I thought it was a very kind gesture to have wood right there for guests to use. Highly recommend.

Scenic, calm, relaxing

We loved our stay at Lobster Pound. From the star filled sky at night to seeing seals, we loved the privacy and scenery this place offered.

Beautiful location within driving distance of everything. Got to watch seals and a variety of wild birds everyday. Just a great spot.

What an amazing retreat!! Being able to sit on the deck right on the water and look across at Cadillac mountain and all of the natural splendor of the Maine Coast was magical!! For those looking for a peaceful spot about from the hubub this place is perfect!

The cottage was very peaceful and tranquil. Loved the scenery from the deck where we spent considerable time. We also enjoyed seeing deer on the property, seals in the water and lobster fisherman. There were several restaurants and breweries in the neighboring towns.

We love the location of the house- beautiful views, great kayaking. The house is simple but clean and all you need when spending all your time outside. The small kitchen is totally functional and a BBQ on the deck with fantastic views. Susan is an amazing communicator and available if needed for anything.

Not a tourist

We enjoyed our stay … we felt much more like locals staying at our cabin on the water than tourists .. which is what we were looking for on this trip ! :)

Park Like Setting

Beautiful private location with wildlife (wild turkey, porcupine, deer). House is a little rustic with low water pressure but it is clean and the beds are comfortable. Host communication was great.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay. The check in process was smooth and it was easy to communicate with host if needed. The house was as pictured/described but the property itself was even better than we anticipated. Gorgeous views, private, sunset and beautiful day and night skies. We enjoyed watching the boats check the lobster traps each morning. The shower is small as pictured but the water pressure was great. The location was nice for our trips to Acadia and Bar Harbor. We loved being away from the crowds but close to grocery stores and restaurants. The host provided everything we needed for our family vacation. Would definitely stay again!

Perfect!

The house was very comfortable and secluded. We had no issues and felt right at home. However, the views and location were perfection! As long as this house is available, we will be back next summer. This is truly a unique home. We love it!!

Lobster Boats, Seagulls, and Seals, Oh My!

Piece of Maine coast heaven. Couldn't stop saying WOW! Lobster boats pulling their traps right in front of the house and as far as you can see up and down the bay. Caught mackeral from my canoe. Saw at least a dozen seals on the rocks and swimming around my canoe. You can see Cadillac Mtn from the fire pit! So quiet! Only saw 3 or 4 pleasure boats the entire week. We'll be back!

Fall getaway

The Lobster Pound House was a comfortable spot for our Fall getaway. The house is very clean and functional. A bit chilly when the temperature dropped but a space heater is available to keep you warm in the larger bedroom. The instructions to find the key to the house needs to be more specific as it took a few minutes to find it and the instructions for garbage disposal is also confusing and the location to drop off the garbage is quite a distance. Susan the manager was accessible and very helpful to answer our questions.

The specifics for the key and entry instructions are on the attachment to your check in instructions, which is referenced over and over. I am so sorry you did not read it! We did leave a light on since you were arriving at night. ; ) I am so sorry that you could not understand the garbage instructions either! Anytime you need help or have questions, we are here! I also sent an email to you the day before garbage day offering to take it out for you. I hope this is helpful information! We are so glad you enjoyed this waterfront property, the view is breathtaking. Watching the lobstermen fish, and the seals swim in with the tide makes is truly special! We appreciate you, and your stay! Thank you again for the feedback, we will certainly try to do more!
