Having stayed in Gulf Shores and Peridido Key areas many times, we always try to find a non high-rise location. Purple Parrot was perfect for us. Our unit was nicely renovated and tucked away from the others. We have two daughters who favor the pool over the beach so this was perfect. The pool was very clean and well maintained. We loved the water fall feature and having a pool side restaurant and bar was awesome although we only had one night to enjoy. Since we visited after peak season it was only open the Saturday we arrived. We had to cut our trip short due to the hurricane and the host refunded the balance of our stay. We will not be looking anywhere else to stay the next time we visit. Avoid the congested Gulf Shores area and stay here. Short 20 min to Gulf Shores if needed.

Perfect for our family of 5. Resort pools are great. Quick drive to the beach. The beds were comfortable and everyone had space to relax. The home was clean and well kept. The kitchen had basic essentials, but if you plan on doing any cooking you have to get creative with the available pans/pots. We’d definitely stay here again.

Pros:- The place is well appointed. - Double full size bunk beds are perfect for a family of 6.- Pool is n awesome! Nice and big, only 3-3.5 ft deep, so great for the kiddos, and the beach is reasonably close. Can watch the blue Angels practice from the beach. - No extra fee for parking.Cons:- Water isn't hooked up to fridge water dispenser. - Bookshelf door was ripped loose at the top and hanging a jar- access cover on kids shower is loose and just falls out. - only 3 towel hooks and 3 towels in kids bathroom attached to bedroom with 4 beds. Master bath had extra towel at least, but no place to hang it in kids bathroom. - downstairs fan only has one speed: very slow.- porch lights are extremely dim. Probably helps with not attracting bugs, but doesn't help with being able to see. - solar lights on bridge leading to unit are dead, so no lighting on bridge. A few planks are loose. AC went out within an hour of us getting there. Should've been more concerned when I first noticed it getting warm. Didn't report it until 11pm, and I didn't think to check for an emergency line. At 3pm the next day upstairs was 91 degrees. They brought a portable AC unit and got the kids room to 86 so they could nap. Tech didn't get there until 830pm. By then I'd booked another rental in case it couldn't be fixed immediately. Didn't want to risk another night in the heat. Tech was able to fix it, but we had already packed. Host only refunded us one day, but that was the risk we took.
