Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the property did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify several points for future guests, as some of the comments do not accurately reflect the property or the circumstances. The living room is furnished for our maximum occupancy of six guests, with a three-seat sofa, two armchairs, and two additional comfortable seating options. All of the main furniture was purchased from Ashley Furniture, a well-established and widely recognized furniture retailer in Canada. While this is not luxury furniture, it is good-quality, mainstream residential furniture, and we do not consider the living room to be sparsely furnished. We were therefore surprised by the statement that lawn chairs were needed to watch TV. Regarding the BBQ, the property is equipped with a charcoal BBQ, as described in the property information. Some guests prefer charcoal while others prefer propane, but this is a matter of personal preference rather than a deficiency with the property. The roof replacement has already been arranged. In the meantime, waterproof tarps were installed as a temporary protective measure to prevent further water intrusion while materials were being ordered and the contractor's schedule was being arranged. Tofino is a remote community, and major roofing work cannot always be completed immediately. The toilet-paper disposal requirement is due to aging municipal sewer infrastructure. A notice is posted in the bathroom, and when you asked about it during your stay, we explained the reason and the required procedure. We understand that this may be less convenient than a normal sewer system, but it is a necessary precaution to prevent sewer blockages. A permanent solution to the underlying infrastructure issue would require upgrades to the municipal sewer system, which is outside the property owner's control. The patio was painted last fall. Unfortunately, the exposed coastal environment in Tofino, with heavy rain, moisture, and salt air, can cause exterior surfaces to weather surprisingly quickly. Regarding the backyard, the guest-use areas were cleaned and maintained. The area referred to as debris was an inactive corner where we were preparing a foundation for a future hot tub, so it was temporarily disturbed by ongoing work and was not part of the main guest activity area. Finally, we are particularly unclear about the comment regarding “noisy renters next door.” There are no rental guests in the neighbouring property, so we are not sure what this refers to. We always welcome constructive feedback and continually work to maintain and improve the property. At the same time, we believe it is important for future guests to have an accurate understanding of the property and the circumstances described above. We have hosted many guests through Vrbo, and this is the only review we have received with such a low rating. Of our 15 Vrbo reviews, 14 guests have given us the full 10/10 rating, while this review is the only 4/10 rating. We believe this overall history provides a more representative picture of our property and the experience our guests have had.
