We had a wonderful stay at Moonshine Creek in Oak Island! The space was perfect for a couple — very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The king bed was especially soft and relaxing, making it easy to unwind after a day at the beach. The dock on Davis Canal was truly a slice of paradise. Our host was very attentive to our needs and incredibly accommodating, allowing us to go crabbing off the dock and even have kayaks delivered, which made for such a fun and relaxing day. We also loved seeing all the wildlife, beautiful plants, and gardens around the property. It’s also just a short drive to the beach. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful coastal getaway!

Great spot

Love this place, we had a very relaxing trip to Oak Island and enjoyed this spot. Spent a lot of time out on the dock doing some fishing & crabbing.

Great value for the money! Place was perfect. Kids enjoyed fishing and using the crab traps. They caught/released crab, shrimp, and flounder. Great views both morning and sunset from the dock. Short walk to the beach and walking distance to a convenience store. Appreciated the welcome snacks and note. Will be coming back!

Very clean interior. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the waterway in the backyard. Can easily put in your own kayaks off the floating dock. We didn’t have a boat but we sat on the dock each night to watch the sunset and look at the stars. Easy walk to the beach. Very quiet property. They even had a little care package of snacks and a card waiting for us! Would definitely stay here again!

host charged 75 dollars for walmart towel that got messed up in our laundry and charged for cleaning. I washed everything took pictures. stripped beds did dishes and she said was not good enough and charged me without me even oking or degociating it. She lives on the property which decreases privacy. the canal is a mud pit with little life. bugs everywhere. appartment is remodeled car port on concrete slab. the bed rooms have no doors or privacy. the second room is nothing but bunk beds shoved in a corner of the hallway. not worth the price and pictures look better than really is.

Thank you for your feedback. We welcome honest reviews, but feel it is important to provide context for future guests. The $75 charge was not simply for a “Walmart towel.” A white bath towel was used to clean up a significant dark red spill/stain, appearing to be wine or another substance, and could not be restored despite laundering. Cleaning towels are provided at the property for spills. Additionally, multiple dishes and eating utensils were put back into cabinets and drawers while still dirty. Because we could not determine which items were actually clean, our team had to remove, wash, and sanitize the dishes and utensils to ensure a sanitary kitchen for the next guests. The additional charge reflected the damaged towel and extra cleaning required. The owners reside in a separate area upstairs, respect guest privacy, and did not interfere with this stay. The property’s layout is represented in the listing photos and description. The canal is tidal, so water levels naturally vary, and many previous guests have enjoyed successful fishing from the dock. We are disappointed that a legitimate cleaning/damage charge appears to have influenced this review. We stand behind our standards and our commitment to providing every guest with a clean, well-maintained property. Our many positive guest experiences reflect the care taken with this property, and we encourage future guests to review the listing, photos, and feedback from others when considering their stay.

Two Thumbs Up!

Moonshine Creek was exactly as expected....and then some! The owners have done a really nice job of creating a vacation spot that is peaceful and tidy. What else do you need?? Upon checking in late in the evening, the WiFi would not work but it was quickly resolved after a text message to the property owners. We'll certainly be back again!

First Vacay to Oak Island

This property was a perfect location for the two of us. We loved fishing and sitting on the property's private dock in the early morning and evening. We walked (10 Min.) to the beach. If you can take a bike or beach wagon, those items would be helpful in getting you to the beach and back a bit faster. There are pay to park areas throughout the island. It's DEFINITELY worth the 6 mile drive to THE POINT on the west end of the island. Go early for parking and pay electronically. The property was CLEAN and had everything we needed. Communication with owner was quick and helpful. Easy check in!! Nice, quiet neighborhood. We hope to return again.

The property was very clean with nice furniture and a comfortable bed. The location is tranquil and the beach and restaurants are easily available. Stephanie the property was awesome and made sure we comfortable and well taken care of! We had the pleasure of meeting the property owners too and they were amazing! We had a great time at Moonshine Creek!
