○ ☽ ☆ Denali Moonrise Cabin - Stunning Mountain Views

Calling all outdoorsy people - experience the Alaska dream in an quaint, one room DRY (no running water) cabin perched on a ridge at the edge of Denali National Park. Stunning mountain views from the large picture window. Located close to the National Park, outside the commercial district, in a quiet residential neighborhood.

There is a kitchen counter, a mini fridge, and a 2-burner propane cook top for preparing meals. Dishes, silverware, pans, and a coffee/tea bar provided. Paper towels, dish soap, towel and sponge are also provided.

To ensure you’ll get a good nights sleep before heading out on your Denali adventures, you will have your choice between sleeping on the comfortable full sized futon on the main floor, or climbing the ladder to the loft where you’ll find a full sized mattress upstairs (and blackout curtains). Bed linens are provided.

Maximum occupancy is 2 people. Enjoy the books and board games - there is no TV, but we have high speed Starlink internet!

The home is located a mile off the Parks Highway, just a 10 mile drive to the Denali Park Visitor Center and the train depot, and the main hotel/restaurant and shopping zone. A few restaurants are located within two miles, as is the trailheads for the popular Triple Lakes and Nenana River hikes (no fishing license required inside the park).

Guest Access
If you plan to arrive by train to Denali, you will need a rental car to get around the local area and to our house. "Keys to Denali" and "Alaska Auto Rental" located locally in Healy offers rental vehicles and railroad depot pick-up and drop-offs. Be sure to book in advance. The 1.5 mile road from the highway to our house is a maintained gravel road. It should not pose any problem for any vehicle.

We live close by. You can reach us by text or phone, and we are available to answer questions or offer advice on the local area.

Other things to note
With an amazing view into the Park, this cabin is cute and comfortable, but rustic! To make clear what the cabin provides and does not…

There is NO indoor plumbing, but we supply several jugs of drinking water.
There is electricity, mini fridge, two burner cook top, and a clean, instagramable outhouse!
Showers are available at the Riley Creek Mercantile, located 10 miles from the cabin, at the entrance to Denali Park, 7am - 11pm and cost $5 for 10 minutes. We provide towels.
Please don't smoke inside. Smoke whatever you have outside.
PLEASE NO fires, and NO pets.

There is NO indoor plumbing. We provide jugs of water. The outside shower is available with on-demand hot water. Please don't smoke inside.
Neighbors make their living in the tourist industry, and this is their place to relax. Respect neighbors privacy. NO campfires, fireworks, no pets.
You must have a vehicle to stay here. Parking is provided. Please do your dishes, and clean up after yourselves. Quiet hours from 9pm-8am.

The cabin was so cute and the view was amazing. The directions were perfect and made finding it easy. We stayed really only long enough to sleep- but we enjoyed a game of scrabble. Both beds were comfortable. The outhouse was clean and well stocked with anything you might have forgotten. I would recommend to anyone traveling to Denali.

Great Stay near Denali NP

This cabin worked out very well for my wife and me for two nights while we visited Denali NP and the surrounding area. We wanted to be close to nature and away from the tourist scene and this fit that perfectly!

Incredible dry cabin

This is far an away the best dry cabin experience in Alaska. Hot shower, beautiful outhouse and the most incredible views right in your room...I want to move here.

Moonrise cabin is highly convenient to Denali National Park. There are also trails outside the park that actually starts near the cabin. The cabin, outhouse, and outdoor shower are basic, rustic, but clean. The cabin has no running water. It does have a fridge and a stove. There is a small space heater that works very well. Dishes, cups, utensils are available. The coffee is drip coffee and excellent.The hosts put in nice little touches like a med kit, ear plugs, cough drops, etc in the outhouse. There is no latch to the door nor is there lighting so a middle of the night visit needs a flashlight.The outdoor shower water temperature is warm but not hot enough on cold damp days. Plus it is open air so you get cold trying to dry yourself. There is also no latch to this door.The pictures suggest you are in a peaceful, secluded environment. You’re actually on the same lot, 50 feet away from the main house. As long as you know these things and are okay with them, then it’s a great place. We certainly wouldn’t mind coming back. It serves the basic function necessary for rest and access to the park.

My partner and I had a beautiful stay at the Moonrise Cabin. The view from the cabin is breathtaking and serene and we spent our nights there relaxing and enjoying it in the cozy cabin. Our first night we saw a moose and her two calves snacking on brush just up the road!The cabin is small as you would expect, but laid out very nicely. Everything was clean, outhouse was exactly as expected and stocked with toiletries and wipes. Very close to Denali National Park but away from the summer crowds. Becky and Terry were great hosts and quickly answered any questions and also made sure we were stocked with water. We had an amazing time and definitely would come and stay again and recommend the Moonrise Cabin to our family and friends! This was our first time in Alaska and we cannot wait to return :)

Terry and I are both long-term residents of the Denali area. We live in a lovely log cabin that Terry built nearby in the early 1990's. We both work driving tours in the park. Over the past 30 years, we have brought more than 200,000 people into Denali to experience the incredible wildlife and the beauty of the vast, wild spaces.

We often travel during the off-season (Becky has visited over 30 countries!) and have had some wonderful experiences using VRBO. We find that staying in local neighborhoods, rather than isolated “tourist zones”, gives us a better understanding and appreciation of the places we visit. We have enjoyed meeting people from around the world and are very excited about running a VRBO of our own!

We want to help you to get the most out of your visit, starting with a clean and comfortable “home away from home” at our Denali Moonrise Cabin.
