Loved the location and the property had everything we needed. It is, however, older, including the furnishings. Comfortable but older. The location is wonderful - 1 block to beautiful Long Beach - but there are no water views and no great place to lounge outdoors (the deck furniture consists of an outdoor table for 4 and additional plastic chairs for sitting). But I must emphasize that we had a wonderful time; and communication was great! Thanks for letting us enjoy the Beachcomber!

We are so pleased you had a great time and loved the location and all the amenities we offer to our guests. We appreciate that you were happy with our communication prior to and during your visit. Beachcomber cottage is a very well maintained property with gorgeous grounds. We share our beloved family home with many seasonal guests and have furnishings that will last, (not trendy, poorly made pieces) and will be comfortable for all to enjoy. Beachcomber Cottage offers Peek-a-boo views of the water, however, within a one minute walk to the beach, 'Long Beach' offers you glorious, expansive ocean views with two lighthouses and a white sandy beach!

Great location! Wonderful layout of house. Short walk to the beach. Easy to cook breakfast for the family. Comfortable beds! The host was easy to contact, if needed and the house was very clean!

Lovely, spacious home in an ideal location. House is within walking distance to the beach and close to area attractions. Highly recommend!

5 Long Beach Rd property (Beachcomber Cottage)is one of the most comfortable, spacious houses we have rented in Gloucester for many years! We enjoyed walking distance to 2 beaches with easy access to shopping and downtown…also car rental co.The house easily accommodated 4 family members with a large kitchen, dining area, living room and 2 bedrooms on 1st floor and an upstairs”suite” with bedroom, bathroom and game room including ping pong table which provided privacy for my grandson and his wife. The backyard was private, beautifully landscaped and quite a serene place to sit and relax after a day of exploration, as well as a lovely deck on which to enjoy your morning coffee! The area was peaceful and a great getaway to escape the present chaos of modern life. This is a perfect place to unwind, especially after Labor Day and busy summer seasons everywhere!What made renting a house completely across the country(we’re from CA) much less challenging was the communication with hosts and their readiness to answer our questions. One host actually lives in the area and would be readily available to handle any emergencies that might arise! Loved Beachcomber Cottage and hope to return next year! It is a true gem!

We all enjoyed hanging out on the large spacious deck, watching the kids play in the large well manicured lawn on the side of the house. They were lots of flowers to add beauty and lots of trees or tall shrubs to provide privacy from the neighbors. Ping-pong table on the second floor’s recreation room was a big hit with all of our guests. We made several dinners for our guests using the grill and the cooktop and everything was available as far as cooking utensils, pots, and pans. The property owners promptly answered any questions that we had prior to checking in and we really had none after we checked in because the property was pretty much as described. I would highly recommend this place.

Gloucester Trip

The house was great we had 3 small issues 1 think the owners should stress more that the stairs from parking area are the only way in. Having knee problems it was an issue 2 The step into the kitchen could be marked with yellow tape. One older relative had a bad fall on it 3 A minor issue….. the coffee pot does not turn off automatically and we went off leaving it on. It ended ok but could have been a real problem None of these are huge issues but would be helpful for future rental

We apologize that the steps up to the main entrance was a bit of a challenge, we thought having a photo and letting guests know Beachcomber was not handicap accessible (indicated on the website) would be helpful. We do appreciate you letting us know so we can be more proactive with this information. A new coffee maker with an auto shut-off has been ordered and yellow tape has now been added to the kitchen entrance. Safety is our # 1 concern and we thank you for bringing this to our attention.

WOW!

I can't say enough good things about the Beachcomber Cottage! Laura has created a warm, welcoming, clean and well appointed home and amazingly offers it as a rental! My family found the home spacious enough to spread out when we wanted some quiet time but there were enough large spaces (inside and out) to gather and eat together. My mother, who has some knee issues and is partially blind, appreciated the grab bars in the bathroom and in a few other places in the house that offered her the extra security she requires. Let's not forget the real reason you rent this house--Long Beach! We love Long Beach and the Beachcomber is about the 6th house up from the sandy path that takes you right down to a picture perfect spot at the end of the crescent shaped beach! I would say with slow legs the walk will take to 4 minutes and with a quick step you can do it in 2. The owners were always quick to reply to my questions and we will rent this house again and again. If you can find an available week, snap this place up!

Wonderful beach getaway

My partner and I had a lovely vacation at your home. The house had everything we needed and was right down the street from the beach. We especially enjoyed the front patio. My only suggestion for improvement would be to make clear in the listing that this is not a private home; there is a resident staying downstairs. The resident did not disrupt us at all (in fact she was quite friendly and even helped us!) but it would be good to have an accurate listing.

Quiet and Convenient

Perfect getaway

The location in superb only steps from the trail to Long Beach. The property was clean and roomy and great for separation especially if there are inclement weather days. They provide all of the linens and the kitchen was well stocked. There are 2 TV's both small, which is no matter to me as I don't watch much but for those who like large TV's they may be disappointed. The whole experience was great and I highly recommend.

Perfect getaway

Whether you're coming from nearby towns or far away states, this is an ideal getaway. Great proximity to the beach as well as other sites in the Cape Ann/northeastern Massachusetts area. The house is clean, there is a beautiful yard, there is plenty of room in the house and the pool table is a real bonus when you don't feel like running around sightseeing.

Great find near Long Beach and Good Harbor

The property was very generous with space. It was not newly renovated and we had a few ants at various times. The location is ideal for our family. We have relatives who live on the other end of GH Beach and throughout Gloucester so this is an annual trip for us. The grounds of the house were stunning and overall the house provided us with all that we needed for our stay.

Great location for a beach vacation! Easy walk to the beach and a quick car ride to downtown restaurants. The backyard is well cared for and offers a wonderful shady spot after the beach.

Wonderful place to stay

The Beachcomber cottage was a wonderful place to stay at Long Beach. The house had beach chairs, sun umbrella, and beach towels all provided. The yard is nicely landscaped and quiet. My family enjoyed playing pool in the evening and had a great week.

Absolutely perfect!!

Everything was perfect. The owners thought of everything you could possibly need while on vacation. The house is beautiful and spotless and located in a quiet neighborhood. It is literally a 2 minute walk from the driveway to beautiful Long Beach. It has a beautiful yard with lots of big trees to provide shade which was a welcome change from the hot sun on the beach. We loved it so much we have already booked for next year. We feel so lucky to have found this beautiful home to spend our family vacation. Thank you Laura for renting your beautiful home to us!

Best vacation ever

This was the best vacation ever. No stress, the owner and her daughter make everything so easy. The house is well kept and clean. Long Beach is my favorite beach in Massachusetts and love going every year. Have rented several houses over the numerous years that we have been going but this one - is the best one. The beds are very comfortable. Love that this is house is close to everything, beach, and food. lol. Bearskin and Gloucester are my favorite places to visit. Look forward to going on this vacation every year.
