My stay here met my expectations

The location is wonderfully close to the beach with view of the ocean from lvg rm and bdrm. The furnishings met my needs and decor was simple and cozy.

Great location

Great location. Steps from beach as advertised and centrally located between bars and restaurants at north end of beach walk and those on the boulevard. Clean and adequate space but more spartan than we expected. Whoever took the pictures did a great job of making it look super! We had one small problem which management had fixed very quickly.

Thank you for your review. Not sure what you mean by "spartan" Much original professional wall art done by the owner's mom, a professional artist. In the living room and kitchen. Several wall mirrors (bedroom, living room, hall. ). Several plants as decor in all rooms (living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. This is a cute 1 bedroom and all photos are exactly what is provided.

Exactly as advertised

On the board walk and close to everything from pb to south mission. Plenty of clean linens, towels and beach toys. Coffee snacks and toiletries were complimentary. Bring extra paper products and trash bags. Great outside deck and fire pit. Some of the Best views from every window

Great location

The location was fantastic but the unit itself needs some maintenance. It was clean but it had several things that needed repair. Our biggest problems were the bed and the light/ceiling fan in the bedroom. The bed was not comfortable and squeaked and creaked so loud at the slightest movement. The light and ceiling fan in the bedroom kept turning on and off all throughout the night our first 2 nights. The third night we shut it off at the switch so it couldn’t do it anymore but then we were hot. We figured out that the unit next door had the same remote and their young adults stayed awake into the early morning hours and were turning their lights on and off, which were effecting ours. Between that and the bed it made it nearly impossible to sleep.

Pretty much as advertised - kids loved it

I paid a high amount due to last minute scheduling for the holiday weekend. At $200 or less per night, this would be a great deal. You have to check in to the rental office about a mile away first to get the keys. It was me and two kids, age 12 & 15, it was plenty of room for us, they both used the loveseat fold out beds and I took the full size bed. When both fold out beds are out, you have to move the coffee table around and the living room is pretty much full at that point, so you have to put everything back in the morning. I don't see this as that much of a hassle, it was kind of like camping for them, but a second bed definitely would have been more convenient. I didn't do it, but I would also recommend getting a bundle of firewood, people where doing camp fires on the beach at night, I don't know the rules around having a portable firepit, but there isn't one available at the unit, this could be an improvement that would be a lot of fun. Otherwise there is a firepit on the patio that stands about 3ft high that could be used as well. PROS: Great location, rental shops (bike, boards) and Swell coffee is just seconds away, a quick run to Ralphs for all your food and ancillary items. Beach stuff is onsite, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach mat, umbrella, sand toys Kitchen is stocked with all necessities Gas grill and patio table See and hear the ocean Watch people on the board walk pass by. Room to store rented bicycles on the patio Coin operated laundry below the unit. WiFi Nice hot shower CONS: No AC, not really a problem unless really hot and there isn't a strong enough breeze. Porch lights from other houses can be bright at night if windows and shades are open. There is a large mirror door closet in the bedroom, it's best to open the door so that the light reflection isn't in your eye when you sleep. Beach equipment was pretty dated and used (still had fun with it) Very narrow parking, which is common for the area. We had a Land Rover Discovery and it required some precision to park and squeeze out. Get a compact or sub compact for best experience. Also rent bikes and ride them everywhere!

Thank you for your review. Glad you had a good time with your kids and were able to enjoy all we have provided for our guests. Regarding checking in at the office, we want to meet all our guests and let them meet us so we have a personal relationship and can assure them we are here to meet their needs and address any concerns or questions. Also to go over small details regarding each individual property so they have some direction about our procedures. Saves alot of time on back and forth emails and phone calls.

It was a perfect location while traveling with our x2 teenage kids. Close to restaurants, shopping and groceries. Room was warm in the day but would cool down at night. We had a nice cross breeze in the unit.

Beautiful location, a little rough around the edges

It’s a nice little spot. The bed is really hard and the toilet chain broke. Otherwise it was exactly what we needed for our family‘s first-ever beach experience!

SD Trip

My wife and I visited my son in SD. The three of stayed at the property. It was clean and as advertised. The communication with the host was timely and excellent it was close to everything and had great beach toys / chairs / etc.

I loved it I don't have nothing bad to say about this place the location was perfect everything was walking distance the host was nice anytime I needed to talk to her she pick up the phone our first time on the west coast and we will be back soon

Disappointed

Overall disappointment. Talked extensively with Sarina from day one. These are a few things the company should address for future customers. The property is gross and in shambles. They post great pics but the place doesn’t look the same in person. 1. Locks and door handle rusted and difficult to open 2. Bird droppings everywhere all over patio entrance and equipment. (Fixed while there and cleaned up after talking with Sarina ) 3. All beach toys, umbrellas chairs broken and need replacing. 4. Outside lights burned out 5. Lots of noise and parties for our entire stay of 5 nights. 6. No air conditioning- it was 85 degrees in the house. Miserable! 7. Kitchen light burned out 8. Sand everywhere including our beds. 9. Rods in closet broken 10. No waters for guests. 11. Inside rugs loaded with hair and dirt. So gross. 12. Bedroom bed skirt filthy . Needs to be thrown away along with comforter! 13. Plastic plants loaded with dust. Throw them away! Please! 14. Curtains filthy. My husband and I stayed away as much as possible. It was the worst accommodations we have ever had. $2,500.00 for 5 days of being near the beach in a dirty apartment. So ridiculous! DO NOT SAY HERE!

Great location

Traveled with my wife and daughter, this place fit our needs perfectly. Great location! I drive a crew cab full size truck and parking is always an issue but this unit came with a spot, which while tight I was able to fit my truck in fine. Place was clean and right on the beach! Would rent here again.

Great location but not managed well

Location was great, apartment was spacious enough for 3 people and well furnished. This was the first impression... until we went to use the dishes- there were dirty dishes in the kitchen cabinet, as well as glasses with lipstick on them. The manager suggested us to load the dishwasher and clean them ourselves, like we weren’t already paying for having this done prior to our arrival. But the biggest shock came late when we were getting ready to go to bed. The sheets had white/clear spots on them. And because of the position of the stains, it was clear what it was. The manager tried to say that might be soap stains and eventually told us to change them with clean ones from the closet. I took pictures if anyone would like to say differently. These previously stated events made us doubt the overall cleanliness of the apartment, which bothered us even more due to the situation we are currently in because of the pandemic. As soon as we noticed all these inconveniences, we, of course, took it into our own hands and cleaned all the surfaces. We even considered leaving because we believed staying in these terrible conditions was not worth it. Not to mention, while I was talking to Sarina, the manager, on the phone, a man in the background called my wife a b**ch because she was politely commenting in the background. We’re very disappointed with our experience here, and definitely would not recommend it.

Wonderful Stay

Mission Beach is still full of these older places, jammed together, with varied in architecture. This unit is no exception. First, parking is hard to come by, so this place has a snug slot. The views from the front window, kitchen table and bedroom are of the Ocean Walkway, sand and waves. The furniture is contemporary and the two single bed loveseats are newish and comfortable. The king bed has nice linens and lots of pillows, is comfortable, but the frame squeaks. The kitchen has all the necessities, if a bit dated. Could use some larger coffee mugs and nice plastic wine glasses. The best part of the place is the ground level patio. We used it for morning coffee, lunch and evening fires. It is private, but has a great view of the Ocean Walk, beach, waves, and all the busy goings on without feeling like you're being watched. The patio has well used beach chairs and toys. It has room to store and lock up your bikes, but, WARNING, bike theft is common on Mission Beach. We, unfortunately, learned this the hard way. We would come back to this place; it was a great vacation.

Not As Featured, Nasty Little Place

Unit is very old and in need of repair, and does not have air conditioning, couches are wore out and uncomfortable for sleeping. We were not aware it was a second floor unit. Location is very difficult to find and parking is ridiculous, everyone would have to get out of the car before parking. We stayed two out of the five nights, cleaned and verified with the local office that the unit was acceptable. We found a nice place and notified the local office of our disappointment hoping to receive a refund.

So sorry you did not like the adorable 1 bedroom condo right on the ocean with fabulous views from the living room, bedroom and kitchen. The description says it is upstairs. All photos show it is upstairs. The two loveseats have upgraded memory foam mattresses with platforms stored behind each one for more firmness. It is not a new unit, no 1 bedrooms have been built in 20 plus years at the beach but we keep it up. The owner provides nice linens, bedding and kitchenware. If you had difficulty finding it, we are a phone call away to give you guidance. The description does not say it has AC. Very few properties in Mission Beach have AC. It does however, have ceiling fans in the bedroom and kitchen with ocean view from the dining table. The parking is open in length and can fit larger vehicles as full size van or F150. Yes, parking is a premium at the beach. I wish you would have called before you booked and asked questions. We want our guests to be happy. If we knew you wanted a ground floor we would have offered you a few alternatives. Next time you book through a platform, we suggest you ask questions so you are assured you will get what you desire.
