Enjoy a peaceful stay at our 2-bedroom, 2-bath cabin, 11.9 miles from downtown Waynesville. Nestled in the heart of nature, this beautiful property offers a secluded escape for guests. At 4000 ft. Elevation, the temperature is normally 12 to 15 degrees cooler than down in the valley.
Our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare your meals.
No need for bottled water here! Our water supply is cool mountain spring water. Bring a jug and take some home with you!
Our large master bedroom, with king bed, looks out to the Point. Watch the sunrise over the mountains from the master bed. The second bedroom has a queen bed with private bathroom. With 2 bathrooms, a shower and a bathtub, you'll have all the comforts you need. The additional spaces, include a living room with a Queen sofa bed and a detached bunkhouse with 2 bunks and porches to provide extra flexibility for your stay. The bunkhouse has electricity, but no running water.
Sit out at the point and enjoy the Mountain View’s by campfire or pitch some horse shoes.
Weather you're exploring our hiking trails, nearby Cataloochee ski area, shopping or a meal in lovely downtown Waynesville or Maggie Valley, or simply relaxing on the porch, our cabin is the perfect retreat. Friendly dogs are welcome.
If they are wanderers, they should be kept on leash. We have dogs and horses nearby. Please let us know if you are bringing a pet. The deposit is fully refundable and the cabin is even more pet friendly if they are expected!
We are 40 minutes From Asheville, 20 minutes from Waynesville.
In order to reach this property you MUST HAVE 4 wheel or all wheel drive…trust me. There is a security gate at the bottom of the cove.
You will receive a gate code 3 days prior to stay.

The need for AWD or 4WD is not an understatement, but with a capable vehicle the views are worth it! The house was very clean and tidy. We especially appreciated firewood being provided for campfires at night - it’s expensive at the convenience store and not something you care to pack, so that’s a big perk included in your rental to factor in! Overall, the property was perfect for our occasion and we had a great time. We greatly appreciate the hosts for offering their property for our trip!

My sister and I spent 5 days at this cabin. The view is just stunning and the peace and quiet was just so refreshing. We enjoyed visiting Dillsboro, Sylva and of course Waynesville. We got lucky while in Cataloochee Valley and had a close encounter with a bull elk and two cows. The cabin is well outfitted with the most comfortable furniture I have experienced in any rental. Coffee in the morning enjoying sitting above the clouds in the valley and watching the sun rise and in the evening with a glass of wine playing horseshoes. Donna and Steve were great and responded quickly to any questions we had. We are hoping to make it back to this delightful cabin in the spring. Thanks so much for sharing your cabin.

Only stayed two nights, it was so peaceful and the view is spectacular and always changing.We felt like the only ones on the mountain. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking . Having firewood was a big bonus because you won’t t be making any quick runs to town. Great for dogs and kids. The bunk house was cute and my granddaughter loved it, but no one slept there. The beds were comfortable, on the soft side. Over all a nice trip. The road up is definitely 4x4 or AWD.

Everything was fantastic. The house and property were a great getaway for us. Trials around the property were really good. Take the top trial. AWD or 4WD is a must but the adventure is well worth it.

Amazing!!! The Point is a beautiful property with everything you need! We went for our anniversary and some much needed R&R and it was perfect. The home is very comfortable with everything you need in the kitchen to prepare meals. Beds were comfortable and house was warm and charmingly decorated. We felt so relaxed. The outdoor area, The Point was where we spent a lot of our time. The horseshoe pits were a plus, it was so much fun. We had fires out there in the evenings and enjoyed the views. This is a sunrise view property and it is phenomenal. If you’re looking for privacy, this is it. The host, Donna was great! Will be booking again! Wish I was still there enjoying the property.

The house and the property are beautiful. They look just like in the photos. The house is bigger than we expected and the view is amazing. The private hiking trails apparently no longer exist. The owner told us they have been sold but, of course, there are plenty of places to hike in the area. This is one of the nicest places we've ever rented in the mountains.

Breathtaking views

What a beautiful cozy place to stay for Thanksgiving! We enjoyed our time walking the trails on the property, using the firepit and had the fireplace going for a relaxing holiday! Donna had thought of everything and we didn't need to leave the property once we settled! An AWD is definitely a must to get up to this cute place to enjoy the mountain view!

Amazing mountain-side cabin with a MILLION view!! Owner communication was great. The kids loved the 4wd road leading up the mountain. Home was clean and provided all the amenities we needed, including sheets and towels. The VIEW is amazing. If we didn’t have other commitments, I would have kept a fire going all day and sat and gazed. The morning sun washing over the valley in the morning while sipping coffee was heaven. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing property.

Great weekend

The house was great and the grounds were fantastic. The house is very secluded and challenging to get to, so if you don’t mind some adventure this is the place for you. The fire pit overlooking the valley was unbeatable. Travel time to the ski area is about 20-25 minutes and an all wheel or 4 wheel drive is a must to make it to the house.

Excellent Morning Views

We had a great time, very quiet area with fantastic sunrises from the Master Bedroom. All the amenities anyone would need, felt like being at home. We did see a black bear walking along the lower driveway so be sure to keep the trash in the garage as advised and your cars locked! The owner's dog did come down the first morning to say hello. It is a steep gravel drive to the cabin, so as the owner's say, you do need a 4 wheel drive.

Very nice stay

This was our second trip to the area to escape the Florida heat. On our first visit, we stayed at a lower elevation with a west-facing deck, and it was still pretty warm. This time, staying at The Point at 4,000 feet made all the difference—the cooler temperatures were perfect and exactly what we were looking for.The AWD/4WD requirement is no exaggeration, but the drive is manageable and worth it. The property owner was incredibly accommodating throughout the entire process, which made everything even easier.We were especially happy that the house was pet-friendly—not only could we bring our dog, but they also welcomed our cat. That flexibility meant a lot to us.The location is ideal: close to Waynesville, Asheville, hiking trails, golf, fishing, great dining, and more. One small note for future guests—the oven is a combination microwave/convection unit, not a standard oven. The gas outdoor grill was new and a very nice feature for us. We like to stay home and cook or grill, so it was a bonus that you do not always get. We loved starting our mornings with sunrise views and unwinding with happy hour at the Point. Hiking the area with our dog was a highlight. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

We loved the peace and quiet of the house and the surrounding woods. The host is definitely not joking about needing 4WD or AWD to make it up the road to the house. But if you're comfortable with that, the view more than makes up for it. More than one person who saw my photos of the sunrise accused me of using AI. The house is well appointed and comfortable. The peacefulness of not seeing another person while there was priceless.

We recently bought the point property to keep it in the family of our dear friends who were our closest neighbors on the mountain. They have both sadly passed, but their home has always been a second home to us.. and now it’s legal:) We miss them and are happy to share this special place with their children and grandchildren.

We have 40 acres of land, hiking trails, nearby skiing at Cataloochee Ranch, fishing just down the mountain and ramp and spring lettuce picking on our property, seasonally. We enjoy the peaceful privacy of mountaintop living. Our place is just up the hill a ways from The Point.
