The property itself was nice and the location was good, but the experience with the host was an absolute nightmare. There are front and back doors with electronic Yale locks on top and manual locks on the bottom. The BACK door has a sign specifically saying not to lock the bottom lock, which we followed. There was NO such sign or warning on the FRONT door. I locked the bottom front lock before leaving because we had money and personal belongings inside. Nothing indicated that locking it would prevent us from getting back in.We returned around 3 AM and were completely locked out. We spent approximately THREE HOURS on the phone with Vrbo trying to get assistance. When the host finally arrived, instead of being understanding, he was rude, dismissive, and hostile. When we asked if he was the host/owner, he sarcastically responded, “Maybe, I don’t know.” He then tried to make it seem like it should have been “common sense” not to lock the bottom front lock and that the entire situation was our fault. How is that common sense when the back door specifically has a warning not to lock its bottom lock, but the front door has NO warning at all? That actually gave us every reason to believe the front lock was okay to use.We immediately grabbed our belongings and left the property. Mistakes happen, but blaming guests for unclear instructions, being hostile after they were locked out for hours, and refusing a refund is unacceptable.Nice property, HORRIBLE hosting experience.
