During our drive to the property we had reserved, we were notified that one of the showers was out of order. Upon arrival, we also discovered stained carpets, torn upholstery on the furniture, and broken light switches. We were informed that the shower would not be repaired during our two‑week stay, the rental company moved us to another unit.When we arrived at the second property, it was immediately clear that the home had not been prepared for guests. The temperature inside was 45 degrees, there were dead insects present (including ladybugs and cockroaches), and the water had been completely shut off. After 30 to 45 minutes of back‑and‑forth communication, we were finally instructed to go outside and manually turn on the main water tap ourselves.Once we had cleaned and tidied the house, we were genuinely pleased with the property itself and were able to enjoy the space. However, we were very disappointed with the owner’s customer service throughout this experience—specifically the lack of preparedness and the repeated deflection regarding the circumstances we encountered.We completed our work a day early and checked out accordingly. When we requested a modest refund of half of one night’s stay, we were asked to provide photo documentation of the insects as well as receipts for the cleaning supplies we purchase, which added to our frustration given the conditions upon arrival.
