The house was clean and the check-in process was easy. The owner was very responsive to any questions I had during my stay. We would not hesitate to rent this property again when we are back in the area.

The modern decor was very appealing and the smart appliances were quite impressive. There were plenty of linens, paper and soap products. Attention to detail was evident in every room. I would have liked TVs in the bedrooms.

We stayed at this house for a wedding. It was a short drive from downtown and was the perfect size for our group of six adults and two children.

Barbara was a wonderful host! Communication was prompt when needed. The house is immaculate and you can tell how much pride she takes in her property. Beds were all extremely comfortable and the furnishings were great. My kids really loved the pool table! Perfect for our trip down to visit the area colleges.

Family wedding weekend

I stayed here with family (ages ranging from 8-60+). The place was exactly as the pictures. The house was extremely clean and well stocked. The beds were SO comfortable and the showers were great. The host was ready at all times for any needs during our day. I would definitely stay here again.

Entire property and amenities were top level and adequate for my entire crew as listed in the app. Everyone in my team was satisfied. Owner also kept checking on me to make sure everything was good. Watch your children when they go out as they can easily hurt themselves. Would definitely go back

Wedding Weekend

8 of us stayed at the Peacock House for a long weekend while my daughter got married in Durham. The house provided separate common living areas (living room, game room, kitchen, front porch and back seating area), which was great for a group of 8. We loved the decor of the home. My sister said she felt inspired by the home. Barb was receptive and responded quickly with any questions we presented. We would love to stay again!

Barb was super helpful and was able to answer all of our questions right away! The house is exactly as the pictures show! With fun peacock surprises in every room, our family enjoyed the decor and amenities. Our favorite was the interactive fridge! Our kids could play with the fridge all day if we let them :). There were plenty of games and activities to keep everyone entertained during our stay. The beds were comfortable and the showers were amazing! Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Just FUI for anyone booking, the house is on a busy street, so you can hear the cars buzzing by at night- but this was easy to sleep through (and ear buds are provided). If we are in the area again, will definitely rebook!

The property was nice however there were some things left unclear. We noticed the following once we were in the home. - There was a used bath towel left in the upstairs bathroom - There were stains on the ottoman in the orange headboard room - In the upstairs bathroom, the clear shower curtain had heavy dirt stains. Therefore my family cannot wash up there. - The trash bin in the kitchen is broken. It hangs downward when pulled out - There is a brown stain in the freezer.

Home base for graduation weekend

Stayed here with our family of 7 for Duke graduation weekend. The house is very new and immaculately clean, with a fun decor scheme. The kids loved the game room, the beds and showers were good, and Barb’s communication was great. Overall it was a great stay, just a few things to be aware of. First, the neighborhood is not the nicest or prettiest part of Durham (this house is a lot nicer than most of its neighbors). We didn’t have any safety issues, though, so as long as you are sensible I think it’s fine. Second, some of the decor choices are more aesthetic than practical - the kitchen island stools and dining chairs, for example, were incredibly uncomfortable. Third, the house is located about 20 feet from what was described as an abandoned rail line, but on our first morning 2 trains went by before 7am. We didn’t notice any trains after that, though, so maybe it was an anomaly. Finally, the house has a few “new construction quirks” that would be an easy fix - for example, the toilet paper holder in the powder room is not secure to the wall, the trash can cabinet doesn’t open quite right, and the microwave doesn’t quite fit in its housing. But as I said, it was a great place to base our family for graduation weekend and we would stay again!

The Peacock house did not disappoint. We weren't able to entertain outside since the outdoor cushions were missing but other than that the house itself was very nice. The toilet tissue dispenser was broken in the master suite and the picture in the stairway was cracked and moved to the game room. Our group of 6 overall enjoyed the property.

6/10 Okay

Beautiful Property, but Needs Better Maintenance & Attention to SuppliesWe recently stayed at this property with a large group. The house was very clean upon arrival, and the air conditioning worked well despite temperatures in the mid-90s.The outdoor spaces were a highlight. The shaded outdoor dining area was perfect for breakfast, and the firepit seating area was comfortable with excellent afternoon shade. The front porch also provided valuable extra space for our group. While the property has great potential, it needs more consistent maintenance. During our stay, we reported several broken or missing items and provided a detailed list at checkout. Issues included a wobbly kitchen faucet, a non-functioning stove exhaust fan, unsecured trash can pull-out tracks, and a refrigerator warning that the water filter required replacement.Additional concerns included a loose toilet paper holder, multiple loose doorknobs, a missing upstairs shower liner, a difficult-to-operate sliding glass door, and bedroom noise machines & portable fan that could not be used because power cords were missing. Outdoors, the grill cover was damaged, and there were no seat cushions for the patio or porch furniture.Basic supplies were also lacking. No dish towels were provided in the kitchen, there was no hand towel in the powder room, and a full load of linens had been left inthe dryer from the previous cleaning. If these items are addressed, this could easily be a 5-star property.

This guest informed me that she did not like the urban neighborhood, so perhaps that is the reason for the low rating. They also checked-in early and the beds were not made yet. This situation was embarrassing and my fault for not communicating better with my cleaning team. The beds were made up by dinner time. I did consent to an early check-in and waived a pet rule. The group hosted a large group party, with a DJ and their own grill master while on the property. The attendees parked on the grass, outside of the designated parking area. All of these infractions were over looked, so I guess we can call it a wash. It's all a matter of perspective, I suppose.
