BIG GREEN 5BR - Hot Tub • Game Room • Fenced Yard • Pets Welcome
Meet Green Hummingbird, your family retreat in northern Columbus. Five bedrooms and nine beds down one hallway, an expansive living room, and a game room out back that stays busy until somebody finally calls it. Built for a Ft. Benning graduation, a reunion, or a relocation stretch that needs a house instead of a hotel. The kids get a fenced yard; the adults get the water after dark. The base is 15 minutes out, groceries walkable, pets welcome.
THE SPACE
• Single-story brick ranch, 1-2 steps to the front door
• Two indoor living areas, both with TVs
• Game room: pool table, arcade cabinet, board games
• Open kitchen-dining-living flow
• Carport and long driveway, plus free street parking
• Smart thermostat, fast Wi-Fi, exterior cameras (front/driveway only)
KITCHEN
• Full-size fridge, stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher
• Blender, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, griddle
• Cookware, knife block, cutting boards, real dishes, wine glasses
• Coffee and tea provided
• High chair and children's dinnerware on hand
BEDROOMS
• Bedroom 1 - king canopy bed, en-suite bathroom, own TV
• Bedroom 2 - queen bed
• Bedroom 3 - queen bed
• Bedroom 4 - two queen beds plus two pull-out trundle singles
• Bedroom 5 - two queen beds, just off the kitchen
OUTDOOR
• Hot tub in the fully fenced backyard
• Children's playset with swings, rings, saucer swing
• Gas grill on the patio
• Covered front porch
Some houses fit a group. This one absorbs one. Nine beds down a single hallway, two living areas so the movie crowd and the talkers don't have to negotiate, and a sunroom that stays lit and loud long after the kids go down. Built for the trips people take to Columbus for real reasons - a graduation at Fort Benning, a reunion that finally happened, a relocation stretch where a hotel would break you.
THE LAYOUT
One level, a step or two at the front door. The entry opens into the main living room, and from there the kitchen, dining table, and second living area run together in one open stretch. The five bedrooms sit off the hall; the sunroom game room hangs off the back.
LIVING AREAS
The main living room is anchored by a deep green corduroy sectional and a wall-mounted TV, with Clue, Codenames, and Scrabble on the shelf along the wall. The second has its own sectional, an orange accent chair, a TV with a soundbar, and a sliding door to the back. Two rooms, two things happening, nobody compromising.
KITCHEN & DINING
Sage cabinets, granite counters, stainless appliances, and a counter set up for people who actually cook. Open the uppers and there are wine glasses on one side and green stoneware on the other - enough for a full house, not a starter set. The long light-wood table seats eight, with the game shelf behind it: where the meal ends and the board game starts.
BEDROOMS
Bedroom 1 - the king suite. A black canopy frame against a deep green wall, a boucle chair by the window, mirrored closet doors, a private en-suite bath, and its own TV.
Bedroom 2 - a queen bed with a black upholstered headboard against a warm terracotta wall, rattan nightstands, a lamp on each side.
Bedroom 3 - a queen bed with a cane-and-gold headboard between two windows, sage nightstands, soft light most of the day.
Bedroom 4 - the room that makes a big group work. Two beds under hummingbird prints, each with a trundle that rolls out in seconds - it sleeps six without an air mattress.
Bedroom 5 - two queen beds under woven wall hangings, mustard pillows, and orange curtains that make the morning look better than it is. Right off the kitchen - the easy room for whoever lands at midnight.
Every bedroom has a closet with hangers, fresh linens, and a towel set per guest.
BATHROOMS
Two full bathrooms, both with tub-showers. The first serves the main hall, with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash stocked. The second is the en-suite off Bedroom 1 - tiled, quieter, hair dryer, deep tub.
BACKYARD, PORCH & LAUNDRY
The yard is fenced on all sides, so the gate is the only thing to watch. The hot tub sits on the grass a few steps from the sunroom door with its own step-up. There's a gas grill on the patio - guests mention it by name in reviews - and a playset with swings, rings, and a saucer swing, with grass left over. Out front: mature lawn, covered porch, carport and driveway. Inside, a full-size washer and dryer with an iron.
SUNROOM GAME ROOM
The best room in the house, and the reason people rebook. A regulation pool table under a wall of windows, an arcade cabinet against exposed brick, and a wicker sectional two steps away for whoever's waiting on the next rack. Bright enough at 10am for coffee, loud enough at 10pm for a tournament, and you can watch the kids on the playset the whole time.
NEIGHBORHOOD
Quiet residential streets in northern Columbus, with a grocery store within walking distance for the milk you forgot. Fort Benning is roughly a fifteen-minute drive. The Chattahoochee RiverWalk, Uptown Columbus, and the whitewater course are all a short drive from the door, and the airport is close enough that early flights aren't a crisis.
Everybody arrives at different hours, and it doesn't matter - there are five bedrooms and nobody waits up. Somebody cooks. Somebody else finds the arcade cabinet and doesn't come back. The kids find the swings before their suitcases. And after dark, when the house has gone quiet, two or three of you end up in the hot tub with the yard light on, saying the thing you actually came here to say.
