The Perch on Town Lake – Upscale Lakefront Retreat Near Pictured Rocks

The Perch on Town Lake is a beautifully appointed, upscale lakefront cabin offering year-round recreation, comfort, and a peaceful setting just minutes from Munising and the Pictured Rocks area.

Winter

During the winter season, guests enjoy convenient access to the snowmobile trail system using nearby trail connectors and road riding typical for the Upper Peninsula. Under normal winter conditions, trailering is usually not required. The property offers ample parking for trucks and trailers and sits directly on Town Lake, making it a popular choice for combining snowmobiling with ice fishing and quiet winter relaxation.

This is also a great winter option for larger groups when booked together with nearby Hiawatha’s Hideaway and Maple Ridge (approximately 0.2 miles apart). Please ask for details if you’d like help booking multiple cabins.

Spring, Summer & Fall

In the warmer months, The Perch truly shines as a lakefront retreat. Guests have direct access to Town Lake via stairs, making it easy to enjoy the water throughout the day. Kayaks are available for guest use, perfect for paddling, relaxing on the lake, and wildlife viewing.

A beautiful main-level deck overlooks Town Lake, offering an ideal spot for morning coffee, sunset views, and outdoor dining. On the lower level, a screened-in porch provides a comfortable, bug-free space to relax, read, or unwind after a day of exploring.

The outdoor amenities include a gas grill and a large fire pit, perfect for evening gatherings, cooking outdoors, and enjoying time by the fire.

Guests appreciate the peaceful lakeside setting while still being close to hiking trails, waterfalls, canoeing, kayaking, biking, sightseeing, local beaches along Lake Superior, live music, shops, and restaurants in nearby Munising.

The Perch is a gorgeous, upscale cabin featuring 3 bedrooms with a mix of queen, full, and twin beds, making it well-suited for families or groups of friends. The cabin includes 2 full bathrooms, WiFi, heating, and laundry facilities for added comfort during longer stays.

The layout and finishes create a warm, inviting atmosphere that blends natural beauty with modern convenience — an ideal place to relax after a full day of outdoor adventure.

Plenty of parking is available for vehicles, trailers, and recreational equipment.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Perch! The atmosphere was warm, comfortable and inviting both inside and outside the cabin! The view of the lake from the deck, fire pit, kayaking, nearby hiking trails and restaurants were a bonus! We highly recommend staying at The Perch!

The home was beautiful and the hosting company was very communicative and helpful. Many thoughtful touches around the cabin, and the location feels peaceful and remote while still being close to lots of daytime activities. A perfect up north getaway!

We had an incredible time at the Perch cabin! The view was truly spectacular—sunsets on the lake were unforgettable. The house was spotless and stocked with every amenity we could possibly need, making it feel like a true home away from home. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax and recharge. Highly recommend!

An amazing cabin on Town Lake!

We had a perfect time at the Perch. It is one of those VRBOs that you can tell is loved and used by its owners. So thoughtfully decorated and beautifully maintained. Town Lake was beautiful, warm, and fun too. Including kayaks for use was really nice. Highly recommend.

We had an unforgettable time. The house was perfect: clean, cozy, and well-stocked with everything we needed. The location was peaceful but still close to the waterfalls and other sights.The real magic happened the morning we were leaving. We woke up to fresh snow, and the cabin and lake looked absolutely beautiful. It felt like a winter wonderland.The host was great, and it’s clear the cabin is well cared for and loved. Highly recommend for a relaxing and scenic getaway, especially in the winter.

We became aware that the Cabin’s amenities did not include A/C when we arrived for 4th of July weekend. I’d think twice about booking May-August. We had to clean the grill, after being told it was ready to go. This cabin is NOT secluded. There is a general store about 200 feet away that everyone frequents. And there is a small mobile home camper between the Lake house and the lake that was occupied by strangers. The dock is small and right next to the mobile home camper. The canoes were fine to use, but there was a hornets nest under the stairs used to access the lake and a member of our group was stung 3 times. The operator charged us 500 extra for being a half hour late leaving the premises because we were cleaning - and because the operator said the fridge required cleaning. Keep in mind that the check out instructions require you to strip all the beds, wash all the towels, linens, and vacuum and put away all dishes and anything else you can conceive of.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry the cabin was not the right fit for your group. For the benefit of future guests, we'd like to clarify a few points. Our listing accurately states that the cabin does not have air conditioning. As with any wooded lakeside property in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, wildlife and insects are a natural part of the environment. Wasps or hornets may occasionally build nests in trees, under decks, or in other outdoor areas. When we were notified of a small nest during your stay, it was promptly addressed. Our checkout instructions are intentionally simple and do not require guests to vacuum the cabin or complete all of the laundry. They are designed only to help our cleaning team prepare the home for the next guests. Regarding checkout, our standard departure time is 10:00 a.m. In this case, the property was vacated approximately 90 minutes after the scheduled checkout time, significantly delaying our cleaning team. The additional charge was not based solely on the late departure. The home also required approximately 10½ hours of cleaning—far more than is typical for this property—and additional cleaners had to be called in to prepare the cabin for the next guests. We wish you all the best.

Yooper Perfection

Could not have asked for a better spot for our group visiting the pictured rocks. Close enough to everything we wanted to do and also felt away from it all when we wanted to reset. I’ve been visiting the UP for 20 years and have not stayed in a better appointed cabin. Perfect views and beautiful place.

Family U.P. Waterfall & Lighthouse Tour

We used The Perch as our base as we took day trips to different waterfalls and lighthouses. This home was well-stocked, comfortable, decorated nicely in a serene atmosphere. We enjoyed kayaking the lake, and relaxing on the deck overlooking the lake. We appreciated the little extras that were waiting for us - cinnamon raisin bread, coffee, creamers, and jam. My group commented that this is one of the nicest - if not the nicest - VRBO we've rented! One thing that was difficult was the actual address to be able to get accurate directions downloaded before booking. Lisa was great to let us know that VRBO was not positioned accurately on the website, but I still had trouble finding the residence with the address provided. She had a very good description of surrounding businesses that helped us zero in. We would definitely rent this property again!

The house was well equipped with what we needed for our stay. My family enjoyed time on Towne Lake using the Kayaks provided. The host communication was wonderful! The view from the deck is beautiful! And easy drive into Munising and Pictured Rock National Lakeshore;
