We stayed for two weeks at this lakeside property. The neighborhood was beautiful, the sunsets were lovely, and the kayaks were a nice feature. The outdoor patio has potential, but the yard is so overgrown with weeds and spiderwebs that it distracts from the setting. The house itself was the biggest disappointment. It was far more neglected than the listing suggested. The lake was covered in green algae during our stay, online water quality reports advised against contact.Cleanliness was a major issue. The bedrooms and common areas were acceptable, but the kitchen was not guest ready. Many dishes in the cupboards needed to be washed before use, surfaces were sticky, and the refrigerator froze our produce and leaked water. The bathrooms were old and musty, and the basement (2 bedrooms & 1 bath were down there) had a dank odor, which grew worse over our 2 week stay. Aside from the couch upstairs, furniture was visibly old, sagging/used, and not comfortable or inviting. The front closet was in shambles, and the laundry room contained a mouse trap and an old stained mattress.Maintenance overall felt poor. The thermostat was old & difficult to use. Communication with the owner was matter‑of‑fact. He responded to two messages but never replied to my final question. While the location is lovely, the condition and upkeep of the home do not match the listing or price. We would not return and would not recommend it.
