We loved staying at this little farmhouse. I came to visit with my friend. We spent some time at Lake Ahquabi fishing, hiking, and paddling. The pond on the property has great fishing as well. The house had everything we needed. Lori was kind and welcoming and a great host.

We had the best weekend staying at the Hen House! We were in the area for a wedding at the Red Acre Barn and it was the perfect place to stay! Lori went above went above and beyond to make our family feel welcome with breakfast and toys for our one and two year old children. I couldn’t recommend her place enough!

Great place to stay with kids! At night the farm is so peaceful. We stayed here as a surprise for our 4-year-old and 16-month old. Both of them loved the playground, bikes, and animals. We overpacked and know next time that Lori has everything we need for our kids to have a great time. We will visit for another staycation getaway!

This house has everything you can need along with amazing hosts! The house is cozy and comfortable with plenty of space to spread out and relax. Lori does a great job communicating with you and is so friendly! We will be staying again!

The host and hostess were absolutely amazing!!! The house was a great stay for a weekend away fishing trip. Lori brought over freshly made cinnamon rolls, which were a big hit. We will definitely be back again! Thank you.

Lori and Les make you feel right at home. They go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you could need and more. The farm is so peaceful and watching the animals is entertaining.

Perfect for families!!

We had a WONDERFUL time at the Hen House! Our girls were overjoyed with all the toys, books, games, and puzzles to play with, not to mention the swings, bikes, fire pit, animals, and everything else! Lori and Lee are AMAZING hosts and truly have got you covered for anything you can think of!There’s absolutely no question that when we come back to Indianola, we’ll be staying here again!

AWESOMENESS

Loved loved loved this place. Lori, our host, was the BEST. So kind and helpful. And all the farm animals were awesome, especially Boo, the goat!!The kids had the best time ever!!

Wonderful!!!!!

We had a fabulous time at the hen house!!! There are not sufficient words to describe our experience. Cinnamon rolls, fresh eggs and meeting all of the animals on the farm entertained all of us. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay at the Hen House!

Where to even start! Lori has obviously had experience with what travers need! We flew in, and were in the area for our son’s wedding. Fresh farm eggs, and more snacks and condiments, and fresh rolls, etc. we were not able to enjoy even half the yummy things her kitchen was packed with. And the farm and animals were obviously well kept and happy. I will have to find a reason to go back. I would give it a 200 out of 100 if I could! Just go sit in the peace, and watch the chickens. Thank for everything

The Hen House is Superb

The farmhouse that we stayed in was clean and beautifully decorated throughout with chicken and farm themes. The doilies and other touches made it feel like old times on a farm. We watched farm animals and farm activities. We relaxed, read books, roamed the farm, and enjoyed nightime firefly shows.The kitchen offered lots of snacks, fruit and freshly laid eggs. We barbecued ribeye steak (from The Hen House's own cow) on the grill. This was a perfect place to stay while in Indianola for the Des Moines opera season. We look forward to staying at The Hen House again next year.

Great stay! We loved hanging out with all of the animals. The host left is delicious cinnamon rolls to eat. The host is so friendly and responsive. We definitely recommend the hen house.
