I booked a property through VRBO from November 27 to December 1, 2024, for a family Thanksgiving gathering. Upon arrival, we found the house to be in an unacceptable condition, far from what was depicted in the listing photos. The fridge, countertops, and stove had old, crusted food, there was a strong, unpleasant odor throughout, and layers of dust covered various surfaces. To make matters worse, we discovered rodent feces all over the property, including inside the cupboards. Additionally, there was no Wi-Fi, which was promised in the listing.I contacted VRBO immediately, and they agreed to issue a refund. However, after several weeks of trying to follow up, I have yet to receive the refund. My attempts to escalate the matter and speak with supervisors were unsuccessful. I also tried disputing the charge through my bank, but VRBO continues to dispute my claim, making it extremely difficult to resolve the issue.This situation was especially frustrating since it occurred during Thanksgiving weekend, a time we had planned to spend together as a family. We had to drive six hours to the property, only to turn around and return home due to the unsafe, unsanitary, and unhealthy conditions.Additionally, the host responded to my refund request with a dismissive and unprofessional message, which only added to the frustration.
