Great location

Beautiful views from this condo! Very helpful to find a place that could fit 7 of us. Great location. Owner was very responsive to my messages both before and during our stay.

We had a great time staying in L 105. We have rented this unit before and we like the location and view.

Great stay with family

Location could not be beat. Went mid- February peak whale season and would watch whales breaching and playing all day from the lanai. Nice lawn for kids to play. Pool and putting green were also great activities on-site for kids. Good snorkeling off the beach at the resort south of the condo. Saw sea turtle and tons of fish.

Overall a great place to stay.... my only complaints would be the couch needs replacement, and the washer only fits 2 towels, so it was easier to hand wash and dry outside. Plenty of beach equipment, and loved the ocean front access. Sleeps 5 comfortably.

We have had our oceanfront 2 bedroom condo at papakea resort for the pat 20 years and never had bed bugs you arrive Dec 15 departed Dec 26th and on December 25th you call and said we had bed bugs you might have brought them in on your suitcases. We have had the entire unit mitigated for bed buds and we DO NOT have them per the company. We gave your compensation for bugs you brought into the unit. Owner of L-105 Papakea

Family of 4 in Maui

We had a fantastic time at this location. Patio is located on ground about 50 feet from ocean. Grass outside patio actually made entry easy from ocean side. Beach is only about 100 feet from patio. Views were great. Unit was clean, quite and well stocked. Spacious enough for a longer stay. Walking distance to food trucks and a few restaurants. Easy to get in and out of property. Would stay here again.

Excellent ocean front unit - upgraded and with a responsive owner!

There were 6 of us total (4 adults and 2 kids) for 8 days and we truly enjoyed our stay. We have been to the Papakea many times, and you have to be really good about figuring out where the unit is, which building ,etc. This one is not only ocean front, it's also one of the quieter ocean front buildings. The kitchen in the unit has been upgraded and there was pretty much everything you could ever need for cooking (we had dinner in the unit 6 times) including spices and even condiments. There was snorkeling gear and a couple of quality boogie boards for the beach. The front bedroom is fantastic, while the rear is the usual you'd expect at the Papakea, and the fold out couch is ok for young kids though wouldn't want to be an adult on that mattress (about the only nit with the place). We had a couple of quick questions for Bonnie and she replied within 10 minutes, and everything was solved. Almost don't want to highly recommend this place so that we don't have to fight others to book it - then again, it's always good to recognize an owner that doesn't oversell their property and is responsive...so i guess we have to highly recommend :) Thank you for a great stay - we'll be back next year.

Stay somewhere else

The way I would describe this property is barebones and basic. It is very close to the ocean and that is nice. That’s about the only good thing I have to say about this condo. There is air-conditioning but it is one small window unit that cools one room, kind of. The bedrooms were sweltering and miserable. There is a washing machine but it holds a total of three thin hotel towels at a time. For a place that allegedly sleeps seven people, that seems ridiculous. And there is no way seven people can fit in that place. The sofa bed is awful and the double in the second bedroom barely seems big enough for me person. We bought a queen size air mattress and put it on the floor and it was the most comfortable bed in the house.Along those lines, for a house that sleeps seven people, there were three beach towels. Not seven. Three. There were no beach chairs. The lighting was atrocious. The master bathroom may as well be completely in the dark. There are very few lights. The ground floor is nice for ocean access, but due to the absurd amount of heat we had to sleep with the windows open, which would probably be OK if there weren’t drunk and loud people who did not observe quiet hours at all.

We as owners of the ocean front 2 bedroom condo are so sad that you had concerns about our property. We have two bedrooms king in master, double and twin in the second bedroom we purchased the beds 2 months ago. The sleeper sofa will be replaced in September really sorry the Matress was not to your standards. July is one of the hottest months in Maui and we apologize for our condo not being as cool as you wanted. We do love sleeping with the cross breeze of the ocean but yes at times other guests do not obey the quiet times and you just need to call the front desk and security will ask that they stay quiet. Lighting in the master bathroom we have 4 can lights and two side lights with dimmers that should be ample lighting. Beach chairs the association has chairs on the property for all guests to use they are located near the pools. Beach towels i will make sure there are ample towels in the unit they seem to disappear but thank you for sharing only 3 in the unit. The Washer/Dryer is a stack in the closet the cleaning service takes all sheets and towel off property so it’s primarily used for drying swim suits, etc. I hope you did have other good memories of Maui its a special place!

Perfect Location for a Maui Family Vacation

We enjoyed our time in Maui so much, and this property was a huge factor. The unit was spacious with more than enough room for our family of 5. The amenities on site were great and the property in general was kept up very well. A mere 20 steps out the living room door and you are at the beach! The unit is perfect for watching sunsets, 20 more steps and you are on the sand for beach walks at low tide, and the turtles!!!! It’s a huge challenge to keep things sparkling clean in Maui…that’s the trade off for being on the beach. All in all, the property could have been cleaner, but we never felt uncomfortable and understand the struggle given the tropical environment. I would highly recommend this property for your family Maui vacation. It was perfect for us!

Great location

Fantastic location!!. Resort had 2 pools and spas with great grassy areas. Owner was responsive and helpful when we asked about beach towels. Had boogie board, cooler, and sand toys. Fold out couch mattress smelt bad and was unusable so we bought a blow up mattress at Target. No biggie $20.

Best view on the Island

The price was a little high, but that is COVID. The view from the unit was great. We watched whales breaching daily. Take you binoculars! Nice and well cared for two bed, two bath unit. About 100 feet to a sea wall, it much beach. Several public beaches close by. Very quiet location.

Time Lost from Dirty House at Check-in

Both rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and back porch were dirty, full of dirty dishes, towels on the floor and dirty sheets on the bed. The cloths dryer full of lint in the filter, dirt on all the fan blades and bathroom fan covers, a lot dirt under the beds, food found in the pull out bed and low on toilet paper. I can forward photos if requested.

fantastic ocean front location and beautiful resort

We had an excellent stay. This property was perfect for us. Many places nearby for groceries, coffee, and restaurants within walking distance, as well as beach right next door. There were no beach towels when we arrived, and we had to wait 2 days before they were delivered, though. Otherwise it was great.

Great stay

Such a great time for me and my 4 kids. Plenty of things to use in the condo and great access to everything around our resort. Positives: fantastic location, shuffleboard, mini golf, pool, grills, ok snorkeling in front, sea turtle in front, beautiful sunsets, condo had nearly everything we needed, and special touches. Not so positives: mosquitoes, but the resort sprayed and they were mostly gone, small shower pressure low, coffee carafe always spilled, neighbors are around and can be noisy in morning or everyone enjoying our location/view so there's always people around, registration didn't get email from owner so we spent 20min waiting then 20min checking in, entry door lock needs a special twist or front door is unlocked.

Maui home base

This property is wonderfully located on the water. Peaceful sitting outside watching the sun set. It is a walk down a couple hotels for a sandy beach. It is very conveniently located near several food trucks ,and the grocery store and several informal restaurants are an easy walk. The kitchen is well stocked allowing for in-condo meals which saved lots of time at breakfast!

Maui

We are a family of 5 and this condo was perfect for us because everyone had their own bed. The view is gorgeous and we were able to see turtles swimming right in front of the ocean wall.

Papakea Great! L105 ok

Papakea is a fabulous resort to stay at when visiting Maui, but condo conditions vary by owner. We have stayed at Papakea in quite a number of condos and prefer the L building. We also prefer a floor other than ground as the views are better. L105 in particular is "ok" but it was not cleaned when we arrived and is in need of a deep cleaning. We had to clean it ourselves. Also, the front desk did not have notice that we were checking in, which was disconcerting, but all worked out ok. All in all, I would stay at Papakea again but look for another unit.

Beautiful & relaxing

Loved it, very nice & plentifully stocked kitchen. We love to cook all our meals while in Hawaii and this unit had everything we needed. Bonnie very responsive at emails and questions.

Ground floor condo with a prime location.

We returned to the Papakea Resort after last staying there in November 2018. We opted for a larger condo, and this one fit the bill. Spacious, nicely furnished, really comfortable beds, and a well stocked kitchen with bone china dishware. Who puts bone china in a vacation rental????? Bonnie let us stay on for an extra 4 hours, as we had an overnight flight home. Four stars instead of five due to some repairs needing to be done and trouble getting both TVs to work, and stay working. Papakea Resort is simply paradise on earth!!!
