The house was clean and spacious. We had a wonderful time! Everyone said it, but I will reiterate, the driveway is super steep. We mostly didn’t bother hassling with it but my mom had trouble walking up the steep hill. Julian is such a cute town! I highly recommend staying here and enjoying everything the town has to offer!

The house was amazing, clean, and very comfortable! It had everything we need to enjoy a family weekend away from the city. It was a short but vigorous 20 minute walk to downtown Julian and a couple minutes drive to some great hikes! The bonus was being able to soak in the hot tub after a day of hiking and enjoying the start night sky. Highly recommend this retreat!

Amazing home

We were so comfy that we didn’t want to leave. Great space for families and oh so close to Julian 7 min drive or a nice 25 min walk. Great beds and linen (big plus). Well stocked kitchen and the home felt welcoming. Our hosts was very kind and easy to reach out to. Provided additional house info and that was appreciated.

Beautiful Home

This was a great property to stay for a vacation, clean, house looked like the pictures, great kitchen. Comfortable beds. The only thing couple issues with pool but were resolved by host quickly. One thing just would had like to see the driveway to house on pictures as it was very steep and my sister car got stuck. Overall close to the Julian downtown and very convenient.

Wish there was kleenex, kindling for fireplace and not enough hot water. ALSO might be good idea to let people know they can't turn full size suv around at bottom of driveway

Overall good but some inconveniences

Mostly everything was great. Beds are very comfortable, hot tube and pool great. But, in the master room bathroom it could get very slippery. My husband slipped and got injured. If he fell and hit his head the injury could of been much worse. The stay was great but I wish there could of been something telling us to be very careful or something on the ground to prevent falling. We all in joyed our stay here.

The house itself looked newly refurbished and was very nice. We especially enjoyed the kitchen with its new applicances, including an induction stove, dishwasher, and a spacious refrigerator. It was well stocked with cookware, utensils, glassware, and dishes. The view from the house was lovely, especially during sunset or after dark when the stars were highly visible. The tap water inside was tinged with yellow so we only drank the water dispensed from the refrigerator. Accessing the house was a big challenge however, especially for seniors and those with mobility problems. We had both in our group. The driveway to the house was long and very steep, requiring a 4-wheel drive, and we found it to be scary and treacherous (there is a sign at the top of the driveway that says “Very steep grade; user assumes all risk”). Once we got our car to the bottom of the driveway, it was extremely difficult turning it around because space was tight and the pavement was not level (at one point only 3 wheels touched the ground), plus there was fear of going down the nearby slope. There were also a couple of metal rings sticking out vertically in the middle of the driveway, so we had to make sure we didn’t run over those. Suggestions for the house: Add towel racks in the bathrooms; install a fan in the downstairs bathroom; include a dish rack in the kitchen; the dining table was nice because it sat 6 of us easily but it was too large for the space so it was a struggle to get in and out

Thank you for your thorough review of Polaris Ridge. The yellow tint to the water that you mentioned is from iron in the well water. While not dangerous, it can be unsightly. We just installed a new iron filter this past week to address that. The driveway is quite steep and we try to be upfront about that in the listing. While four-wheel drive is not required, it can help. We are so happy your group enjoyed the house overall, especially the kitchen appliances, view of the sunset and the stars at night!

Relaxing

The property is beautiful, unique and spacious. It would be a perfect getaway for families with teen or adult children. There is a pool room with tons of games, plenty of rooms for privacy, a pool and jacuzzi. Pay close attention to the warning for the driveway even if you have an SUV. It is very steep and it is best to park up top and walk down. The only slightly disappointing thing was that the automatic pool cleaner seemed to be clogged and the pool was full of leaves, blossoms and what kind of looked like pollen. Not terribly upsetting because it was early in the season and probably too cold to go swimming. Overall it is a beautiful and well maintained property with super responsive owners, great amenities and an incredible view. I almost want to gatekeep this amazing property and not recommend but I highly recommend! We will be back.

Annual Family 4th of July vacation

Beautiful home with excellent scenery while sitting on the front porch or out at the pool and Jacuzzi area. One of the few times that I did not really need to bring anything as the house was stocked with everything we needed. Two of the nights we cooked dinner there with the last night, eating the leftovers from the first two nights that we prepared food in the spacious and well stocked kitchen. We made a pizza run our first night any an excellent wood fired pizza place just a couple miles down the road. Our kids and grandkids enjoyed the swimming pool and Jacuzzi. My wife and I enjoyed sitting out there in the shade with an excellent view of the surrounding mountains and trees. The short trip into town to watch the 4th of July parade was easy as well as checking out the local wineries, antique shops, craft cider and beer places were additional highlights of our stay. The description of the place identified a very steep driveway that a four-wheel-drive was recommended. We did not have and take a four-wheel-drive and did not have a problem going down or getting back up the steep driveway. And the early 3 PM check in time and especially the later, 11 AM, check out time Allowed for us to enjoy our last morning there before packing up and getting ready to leave. Those extra two hours from normal check in and check out times were a big plus for us. Our family is extremely happy with this year‘s choice and hopefully we’ll be able to do it again.

The hosts were very helpful and attentive. The pool and spa were excellent and beautiful. The house was well-stocked (except lacked a whisk) and very clean and well kept up -- better than any rental property we've been in. The temperature was a challenge to regulate in all the rooms. The primary suite was very cold, but the bedrooms on the first floor were hot (and only one had a ceiling fan). It would have been helpful to have a blanket in addition to a duvet. The house was a little cramped around the dining room table with comfortable but large chairs that made passing by a bit of a struggle. We loved the view and the star gazing, but were surprised and disappointed by how noisy the highway was. The price seemed a bit high. But all eight of us had a good time, and enjoyed being there to see the small-town 4th of July parade! And of course Mom's Pies were delicious!

This property was great for our family’s needs. As a few others have mentioned, the lot is stepped/hilly, so we chose to park at the top and brought a cart to help move our belongings up and down. We all have mobility issues, and while we managed fine, it’s definitely something to consider if you’re traveling with older family members or anyone with limited mobility.The pool and view were fantastic and were highlights of our stay. The location was also very convenient, close to town while still feeling private and relaxing. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to others.
