Set atop a peaceful ridge with sweeping sunrise views over Fallbrook’s rolling farmland, Crown View offers a private, off-grid glamping escape in a beautifully styled geodome designed for rest and reconnection with nature.



Nestled on 101 acres, Splitrock Farm & Retreat offers trails with panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean and Big Bear, plus the onsite Splitrock 5K loop. Just three miles from the property, the Santa Margarita River Trail Preserve — voted the #1 trail in San Diego County — winds through untouched riparian forest, home to golden beavers and the southernmost steelhead trout habitat in the U.S.

Please note the property operates fully off-grid using solar power and battery storage. Power is limited and should be used mindfully throughout your stay. High-draw appliances such as hair dryers, heaters, and fans will significantly reduce battery life and may not be sustainable, especially in the evenings once solar charging stops. A solar-powered system provides ambient light; we recommend bringing portable chargers for any electronics. Guests may also charge their electronics in the communal area.

Beautiful area, cozy vibes, farm animals were too adorable.It’s still camping, so expect ants. Bring battery lights in case generator dies, they don’t have backups. Bring your own sheets, dishes, soap, and firewood.

Breathtaking views and surprisingly cozy

I looooved this property! I highly recommend the Crown View dome. Perfect way to experience camping without roughing it too hard.. the bathrooms were tidy and the outdoor showers felt amazing. Cherry on top were the sweet security dogs and the goats that roam the property! Bring your bug repellent and you're good to go!

Quiet site & Great Views

Very nice camp experience. Clean and comfortable. Shared toilets and shower just down the slope are also clean. This area of the camp was very quiet and the secluded fire pit was great at night. We stayed 1 night and it was a very easy arrival and depart.

Had a lovely time glamping in the Crown dome. It was comfortable, quiet, tranquil, and had stunning views (the sunset was to die for). I love camping, but wasn't looking for the set up and tear down aspect on this trip, and it was perfect.

Overall the place is beautiful and has amazing views. The bathroom they show in the picture is not part of the property. Furthermore, that bathroom was not far but not available at the time. The bathrooms available were portable toilets. They also have a picture of the fireplace but it’s not on the property. They have another picture of the backyard facing the mountain view but that’s like a 20 min walk. There’s a deposit you have to pay. Overall beautiful but not worth the price. Lots of fine print.

Fun nature getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to others. It was like camping, but with a comfortable warm bed and without all the hassle of setup and tear-down. Loved laying in bed and watching the sunrise through the dome window, and enjoying coffee on the deck while the herd of goats came through grazing on the grass for their breakfast.

Glamping Done Right!

I see a lot of places claim "glamping" but really it's a fully-furnished airbnb in the woods. If that's what you're looking for, great! But if you wanted to find that perfect mix between "I went camping" and "I didn't have to haul all my own stuff and was way more comfortable", this is it! The property is lovely, and it's nice to be in nature. It's also nice to have water right at your campsite, a real bed, and flushing toilets about a 1-minute walk away. The staff at Splitrock was friendly, attentive, and timely. My wife did the sunset yoga, and we both did the soundbath. It was fantastic! Cell service on T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T was good from this spot (and usable throughout most of the campground). Check CoverageMap for specifics. We brought our dog, and she did great. If you have a well-behaved pet it's a very friendly place. That said: we saw a BIG rattlesnake, so keep your pets on-leash and monitor them! A few notes that I wish we'd realized before going, these will make the experience easier and more comfortable: • Things I'd recommend bringing: - A headlamp and flashlight for sure (it gets dark outside at night!) and possibly a lantern. The provided battery worked great for lights in the dome, but when we wanted to be out on the deck at night for cooking/cleaning it was very dark - If you're cooking: Dish soap, paper towels, dish towel, dish sponge - Trash bags, hand sanitizer, sunscreen (we didn't really need bug-spray but I'd bring some anyway) - We brought a gallon plastic water bottle, just made it easier to refill then use that for filling our normal water bottles - Something to store your food: the ants are persistent! We had a cooler with ice and it did a good job, but I wish we'd had something else airtight for snacks (chips, crackers, other dry goods) - If you have folding camping chairs, maybe bring them. Just lets you setup wherever you want • Someone else mentioned bringing their own sheets. I'm not certain why, the bedding was obviously washed and clean when we got there. But we did bring an extra blanket: it can get cold at night! The in-dome heat stove might've been plenty, but we didn't end up using it (I mostly didn't want to put the effort in after I couldn't get it to stay lit the first time) • They also had what we needed for cooking and dining: plates, utensils, cups, tongs, a few knives, a big pot, a smaller griddle, and a pan. The 2-burner camp stove came with plenty of propane and worked great • They do not sell ice at the camp store (not enough electricity to run an ice-make) so bring what you need! Albertsons is about a 15 minute drive away in Fallbrook. 1 large-ish bag of ice in the cooler lasted from Friday night to Sunday morning. I'd suggest picking it up on your way up instead of having to make a round-trip back down • The solar panels were not working, which is a bummer. It sounded like the previous guests messed with it. We didn't run the A/C at all because of it. But they swapped our battery for us twice so we had lights, could charge phones, and even used a fan to help circulate • The dome gets pretty greenhouse hot after the sun-rise, so we went out on the deck in the shade of the dome. It was lovely, but I do wish there was covering over the sink/picnic table area. Also a retractable external awning over the window would seriously cut down on the greenhouse effect • We were able to drive around the campground fine in our little Prius. There was one rockI scraped on twice, but once I realized it was there I could get around it. We did NOT drive down to Stargazer/The portal, we opted to stay up top and walk down to check it out.

The host provided very easy to follow instructions on how to get to the campsite. We stayed at Crown View, one of the domes. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised with how tidy everything was at the site. An added surprise of an outdoor sink with soap and a sponge to wash up at the site was cool. I loved the hidden campfire location tucked in the rocks with two Adirondack chairs to relax in. The interior of the dome was nice and toasty when we arrived, it was high 80’s outside, so we didn’t hesitate to run the A/C for a few minutes to get the heat out. After that, we were very comfortable. A nice camp stove with propane, some kitchen equipment, and bbq equipment are provided if needed. A backup power supply is onsite that we used to charge our phones. It also ran the cute lights in the dome. The restroom is a very short walk away from the site. We brought plastic trash bags, firewood, ice chest with ice & food, a few of our own pots and pans, disposable plates, clothes, battery operated lantern, an extra blanket and we were well covered with everything we needed. We could have definitely packed lighter and survived. We loved the little wood burning stove in the dome. It worked great! A few of the highlights that we really enjoyed were how far away we felt from Orange County but so close, the unique surroundings, the friendly communication from the hosts, the peace and quiet, stargazing, walking around the campground, finding the goats, and staying in the dome.

Ben instantly fell in love with the ocean and all the best natural features of Southern California, always at the beach, building BMX jumps in the bluffs, or camping (esp. Joshua Tree). Ben's connection with nature and outdoor recreation was rooted early. Despite remarkable career shifts from athletics (playing and coaching) to business (MBA and consulting) to academia (PhD and professor), Ben’s connection with nature drove him to create his own recreation and wellness retreat. Vetted through traveling to 72 countries and residing on 3 continents, overlanding 2,000+ mile treks across 5 continents, Ben experienced, lived, played, fed, and meditated with amazing people in the most amazing landscapes on earth. A global search ended with finding the perfect outdoor recreation and wellness paradise a mere 20 miles as the bird flies from his childhood home. Ben’s experiences and connections taught him to value lifelong learning, exploration, fitness of the mind, body, and spirit, outdoor recreation, and triple bottom line (people-planet-profit) sustainability. Splitrock is located: 5 miles from downtown Fallbrook - a scenic 10-minute drive to several restaurants, shops, groceries, and gas, 14 miles from all the major stores plus wine tasting in Temecula 1 mile east of Camp Pendleton Nature Preserve to enjoy the views. 3 miles to The Santa Margarita River Trail has a large parking. It's a beautiful trail along a natural river lined with trees, and maybe you can find the locals swimming hole and tire swings where the river meets the road. 11 miles to the Santa Rosa Plateau offers miles of trails.
