Colonial 511, Kingston, TN
The original house built on the current site was a log structure, with only the basement remaining today. During the Civil War, the basement served as a fort for storing ammunition, offering clear views of the Tennessee and Clinch Rivers as well as the Cumberland Road, the main East-West route to Nashville at the time.
After the war, Judge Crumbliss redesigned the house to a seven-gabled style, with the front porch facing the Tennessee River to the south. Subsequent owners, the Eblens, later reconfigured the house, orienting the front porch towards Cumberland Street to the north. In the 1930s, the Eblens sold the house to the Bronce & Vera Johnson, who transformed it into a true Southern Colonial style. The architect, hailing from Knoxville, added a two-story formal section and a single-story Early American portion, previously serving as the carriage house. The residence was further enhanced with the addition of a back patio, pool, pool house—featuring a marble floor—and a circular driveway while preserving the property’s trees and overall silhouette.
Noteworthy elements within the house include stairs and mantels sourced from the Ward House and molding from the old YMCA building in Oakdale, TN. These historic artifacts were chosen for Lindale due to their originality.
An intriguing feature is the outside kitchen's brick walls, made from ballast bricks manufactured in England and used on sailing ships for balance during voyages to America. These bricks were also available for riverboat ballast, with some arriving at Kingston's shores, now the site of Lindale (Colonial511). During excavation, these bricks were discovered beneath layers of soil and plant growth.
The limestone blocks enclosing the pool's east side and forming the pool house's foundation were repurposed from the old Clinch River Bridge. This bridge once spanned the Clinch River near what is now Kingston City Park.
The property boasts various tree species, including elm, maple, sycamore, cedar, and spruce, with the oldest being over a century old. Notably, a unique vine found on the western side of the pool typically thrives in New Orleans but has adapted to the Kingston region.

The “Rosalynn Suite” – 2 queens – Sleeps 4 This classic and timeless room, where Rosalynn Carter rested during her husband's presidential campaign in 1976 while traveling to the White House, is sure to showcase its charm. Be sure to look for the plaque in the room, presented to June Boring, the former owner of Colonial 511, during Madam Carter’s stay in 1976.

Easy Check in/out For your convenience the check in and out process is completely automated. You can arrive any time after your check in time and check out any time before the check-out time. All check in information will be sent to you the day of arrival. If you require an early check-in, please contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. However, please note that early check-in is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. The entire home is yours for the duration.
ID Verification If you are booking outside of the Airbnb platform, we will send you a secure form so that you can upload a copy of your driver’s license and credit card. The ID and credit card must match the name on the reservation holder. All sensitive info is deleted upon your departure.
RESOLLVING ISSUES AND OUR REFUND POLICY We solve problems by springing into action! If you have an issue during your stay, contact is like a friend so we can make it right and get you back to your happy place.
If you inform us or the booking platform of a concern, we reserve the right to enter the property to fix the problem. Please note that id you refuse our assistance in resolving the issue you will not be eligible for any compensation or refunds. Refunds will not be provided if you request one without allowing us the opportunity to remedy the situation. Additionally, we cannot offer refunds for complaints raised after you have checked out or when it is too late for us to address the issue. If you choose to leave your reservation early without an approved alteration from us, no compensation will be given.
CANCELLATIONS We understand that plans change, so you can cancel your reservation at any time before or during your trip. However, please be aware that you’ll be responsible for any charges based on our cancellation policy, which is shown on the listing and in your reservation details. If you leave early without an accepted alteration, please note that we cannot offer a refund for the unused nights. Should your trip be cancelled during your stay (whether by you, the booking platform, or by us), your reservation will end. In the event of a cancellation, we kindly ask that you vacate the property within 30 minutes. If you stay beyond this grace period, an additional $100 per hour and three times the normal daily rate will appl. We really hope it doesn’t come to this, but if you fail to vacate within 30 minutes, we also reserve the right to immediately notify police, physically remove you from the property, file criminal trespassing charges against you, charge your credit card, and file civil complaints against you for monetary damages.
ACCESS Occasionally, our maintenance tram or staff members may need to enter the home. We always strive to do so in a reasonable and considerate manner, and we will give you advance notice whenever possible.
CHECK-IN Check in time is shown on the listing EARLY CHCK-IN: If our home can be ready before check-in, we may be able to do an early check in for you. If you require an early check-in, please contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. However, please note that early check-in is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
CHECKOUT We’re so glad you chose to stay with us. To make sure everything goes smoothly for the next guests, we ask that you vacate the home by the checkout time. If you would like to request a late checkout,please contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. However, please note that late check outs are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. If you stay past the checkout time without prior approval, there will be a late checkout fee of $100 per hour and three times the normal daily rate.
CAPACITY Please do not go over the maximum occupancy of our home at any time for any reason, Doing so will result in a charge of $300 per extra person per day.
DAMAGE & MISSING ITEMS If anything in the home gets damaged or goes missing, we’ll need your help to cover the cost of the item along with any shipping, handling, and other arrangements needed to replace it. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our home in great shape for everyone.

HOUSEKEEPING & EXCESSIVE CLEANING We don’t offer daily housekeeping service. Our home is cleaned before you arrive and after you depart. Our cleaning fee covers the standard wear and tear of staying in our home. This is satisfactory 99% of the time. If excessive cleaning is required by our cleaning staff, we will charge an additional excessive cleaning fee.
LIABILITY We are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or illness that occur while on the premises or its facilities. Please be extremely careful when climbing stairs. We are not responsible for the loss of personally belongings, vehicles, or valuables of the guests. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that asll guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premises.
MINIMUM AGE The reservation holder must be the minimum age of 24 at the time of booking our home.
