Experience Maynard's Retreat in the heart of it all! Located within our Rocky Estate properties, it is a unique stay for those looking to immerse themselves in Hocking Hills and all it has to offer! This brand new modern cabin sleeps 4 guests comfortably. Featuring luxurious amenities and furnishings. 2 private bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms each with walk in showers. Outside you can explore the property and enjoy an evening under the stars in our outdoor hot tub or sit around the cozy firepit! Must be 21 years or older to rent. Steep driveway- AWD/4WD highly recommended in all seasons. Free WiFi -may experience disruptions and outages

House was clean,close to the caves and town!Not much yard area for our dogs but we made it work. They loved laying an looking out the big picture windows . Hot tub was clean we used it every night

Maynard's Retreat was relaxing and peaceful and I left feeling rested and rejuvenated.

The location was serene, quiet, beautiful, and private. We loved having private spaces for each of us to retreat to and could come together in the living and dining area. The place was clean and immediately felt like home. It felt warm and welcoming as soon as we walked through the door.

I stayed at Maynard’s Retreat with my 10 lb Aussie Doodle for 3 nights. Everything was clean and comfortable and has everything needed for a brief stay. I enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub after each day of hiking (10-15 minute drive) which was perfect! Internet tv service is spotty which is understood but seemed to only affect live tv which was not a big deal. I didn’t use the lower bedroom but the master bed was very comfortable and I would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful and relaxing stay at Maynard's Retreat

This cozy cabin was very comfortable and clean for a trip away to relax. The view from the living room with the snow fall was amazing. The layout is great for privacy, you feel like there is no one else around when looking out at the woods. Do recommend 4 wheel or AWD vehicles. The road up to the cabin is steep with a gravel base. We really enjoyed our time at this cabin.

Great Place

This is a great little place to stay. We used the firepit almost every evening. I give the cleanliness a 3 only because we were not able to use the hot tub. There was a yellow film around the edges. We did contact the rental company and they sent out a maintenance man because we also had no power in the bathroom outlet downstairs. Other than those two issues we had a great stay!

Fantastic winter mini vacation

Stay at Maynard’s Retreat was wonderful. It was beautifully decorated and had all the supplies that we needed. Very clean and centay located to all of the Hocking Hills activities. Loved the floor to ceiling windows in the living room overlooking the backyard wooded area. Great rental for a couple with their dog. Looking forward to returning soon.

Property was perfection and everything we asked for! My only comment is that the bedroom located in the basement/underground area is extremely cold and has a hard time matching the temperature of the main floor. It was about a 15 degree difference and did make it difficult for our children to sleep. Everything was great!

This dwelling in the woods is wonderful! From the layout to the decor, everything is peaceful and cozy while being light and airy. The home has everything one could need for cooking and relaxing. The beds are comfortable and everything is clean. There are plenty of charging ports for electronics, and the water pressure in the shower is good. The downstairs bedroom is quiet, the stairs are easy to navigate and there is a door to the outside that has a gently sloping path to the fire pit. Here are some items to note: • The drive up is steep and curvy on a gravel road - take care in adverse weather.• The walk up to the front door is gravel and has dips and valleys. A roller case will be a problem and those with unsure footing should be very careful.• The upper deck only has 2 chairs and there is no outdoor table and chairs for dining. Bringing camp chairs or a portable dining set is recommended. • There are no extra blankets (that I could find), if you tend to get chilly - bring some.• The hot tub is wonderful - but there are no hooks or shelves for towels or phones.• If you are not a fan of the beds, the couch is a fantastic alternative - very large and soft!• While the couch is comfy, the side chairs are not for cuddling up in.• There are no hand rails on the stairs from the hot tub platform - they are very easy stairs, can be tricky in the dark. Overall this house is superb - however if you have toddlers or limited mobility, please take great care.

Beautiful property! Inside the cabin was very well done with all the amenities needed. It was very clean, well maintained, and loved the neutral tones. Perfect view that overlooked a wooded lot and you felt secluded even though there were a few cabins in the area.

Beautiful retreat

Our goal was to get away for a bit, enjoy daily hikes at Hocking Hills State Park, and relax in nature. This property made it super easy to accomplish all of our goals for this vacation!

The cabin was very clean. I loved the updated and modern look. I liked that the bedrooms were on separate sides of the cabin and that they each had their own bathroom. We had enough towels for showers and the hot tub. My only complaint is that I wish the check in time was a little earlier and check out time a little later. Overall we had a wonderful experience.

Good and bad

The cleanliness of our cabin was very good. Our 4 digits to unlock the door did not work, we were able to get immediate assistance when we called and had the lock reset. However, the door never locked / unlocked again using either code. My main issue was there was no where to hang up or put coats/ clothes anywhere. Our coats where hanging on the barstools. My suitcase was on the floor, so I lived out of the suitcase for 4 days would have appreciated some hooks for coats\ clothes. It was winter time the driveway was a mudpuddle with only a welcome mat at the door to wipe boots on. Jets in the hot tub only worked on half the hot tub. But the water was hot!!It was a beautiful scene looking out the windows. We had a relaxing time.

We stayed at Maynards Retreat in Hocking Hills in July 2025. The modern, clean cabin had enough kitchen supplies for four people. We spent a week there and enjoyed hiking the nearby trails.We rated the house 4 stars due to challenging access: a 2-mile narrow gravel road (Rocky Fork) leads to a steep, winding half-mile drive with sharp turns. The host says all-wheel drive is recommended but I would go as far as to say it is required. Minivans or Honda Civics may have difficulty accessing those roads. It is advisable to avoid arriving after dark. The place advertises Wi-Fi, but it's unreliable. Do not expect to stream shows, send pictures or download large excel documents for work. In Hocking Hills (not just this property) you are mostly off the grid.Our stay would have been more enjoyable if there were games to play for rainy days. There are supplies for a long weekend (trash bags, dish soap and paper towels) but not enough for longer. The small fridge does not contain ice or water, so I recommend you bring your own supplies.With some adjustments, this could be a 5-star experience. Additional storage is needed due to lack of space. The house lacks shelves entirely, including in the kitchen, and the bathrooms have only two hooks for wet towels. Installation of a shelf for hangers in the main closet, also blankets and extra pillows would be helpful. A 30 Walmart coat rack by the front door would be a practical improvement. The main shower door leaks.
