Easy check-in, clean, lots of kitchen amenities, beds were comfy. Needs better lighting, especially in the common rooms. Kids had a great time playing in the snow out back. Would book again.

Beautiful big house, perfect for a ski trip

My teenage daughter and I stayed in this house for a long weekend to go skiing at Sugarbowl. The house is really big and well equipped, with a lot of space for everybody. It was very clean and check in was the easiest I have ever experienced with a rental. We had some issues with the heating but the hosts were communicative and helpful. The price was amazing for this kind of house. We loved our stay and would return again anytime.

We were very happy with the house, location, cleanliness. The WiFi was a problem for a day or so but I think it was the community. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms would have made it more comfortable at night. I would definitely recommend and go back!

Awesome mountain getaway

Great location, picturesque. As others have said, the snow piled up on one side but gone is the plywood. They used a metal lattice which let more light in. We loved the cozy living room, and enjoyed the location close to skiing at Donner and activities as the X country/snowshoe center, plus snow play/tubing and easy access from I-80.

Our family went to a ski trip at Lake Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort and booked this place. 1.It is really close to the ski resort and very convenient. 2.The price is reasonable. 3.Very functional house, and has everything we need to stay for 4 days 4.Has a lot of space for our family of 6. 5.It’s nice that they have some board games and puzzles in the living room. Something for the whole family to do it together. Second floors there are books and kids like them.6.In the first 2 days we don’t know how to adjust the temperature and how to use the passcode lock. The rep responded patiently and quickly. Overall it is a smooth stay. Will recommend it to others! Thank you.

Our family of 4 had a cozy 2-night getaway to enjoy the snow. The house is felt isolated and quiet despite being near to other homes. We were able to go to the back area and build snowmen, sled (not a steep hill), and have snowball fights. The kitchen had all the utensils and cookware so we needed, so we could cook our meals without leaving. We loved playing games, watching movies, and readingbooks while looking out the big windows at the tall trees nearby. The only issue is that the queen beds were incredibly firm - my husband and I couldn't sleep longer than 1 hour at a time because our bodies would get sore. If the mattresses were replaced, we’d definitely make this our go-to getaway! If you’re a side-sleeper or need a soft or medium mattress, you may need to reconsider this place.

We had a terrific stay! The house was perfect for our family of four, with two littles. The kitchen was very well stocked with all types of cooking utensils and pots/pans, etc--- even sheet pans so I was able to make a tart! The house itself was a great layout, the kids loved playing in the loft, the living room was cozy in the evening with the wood stove. The beds were comfortable enough, especially after a day of skiing and playing in the snow. I was originally worried that based on prior reviews there would not be enough paper goods, but the house was well supplied for our four night stay and some! The only thing that could use improvement is that the pathway to the front door was not well shoveled and could be slippery. And the snow overhanging the roof looked hazardous and made me nervous walking under it to get to the front door.Otherwise great stay and we would definitely stay here again! The location was top notch too!!

Hi Karoly, We are so sorry for the issues with the plywood. Unfortunately, during the winter, our team puts up plywood to prevent snow from coming into the home and breaking windows. However, your check in date was in the Summer and it was an oversight by our team to have the plywood removed. We have let them know to remove this during the Summer months and we will make sure that the home is properly prepare for future arrivals. Thank you.

Very solid place

I was nervous based on other reviews, but it appears the property manager has been listening. We had no issues with how the place was stocked: toilet paper, paper towels, dishes, and basic kitchen items (salt, pepper, cooking oil, spices, etc) were there. I would put it as in line with most rental properties. Layout of place is great: Bedroom w. sleeping for 3 on the bottom floor (and a full bath), master suite and a separate very large loft upstairs. Lots of mattresses sleeping pads: Loft has enough space for LOTS of kids/teams - probably 6-8. LIving room is fine. Couches are comfy. Location is amazing for Tahoe Donner ski resort: 15 min walk or 3 minute drive. Driveway is pretty big - maybe 4 cars as long as they aren't huge SUVs? Place was clean, driveway was plowed

Trip Cancelled

We did not stay at this property, but I had to pick a star in order to submit a review... We had to cancel our trip due to a severe winter storm in the area. Grand Welcome was not helpful, particularly communicative, or responsive about this. They did not respond to my inquiry about the state of the roads and property due to the storm. When I let them know that we would be cancelling, they directed me to file a claim through the insurance that I purchased and offered no other information or help with the process. I understand that the storms have been impacting the community greatly, but I would have appreciated more warning, information, responsiveness, and support, as we also were very disappointed to cancel our family vacation due to the storm.

Good location, some issues

First, lets start with the good. The property is surrounded by trees and is in a nice quiet neighborhood. Now the bad: All the blinds are old and most don't work so forget opening window blinds. There was a gigantic spider in the kitchen sink which we tried to drown with force of water. However the invincible spider kept coming back every few hours in the sink. Second issue: We turned on the washer with clothes n jackets, But to our horror, the washer leaked a huge pool of water in the bathroom! We had not gotten any spare jackets!! So at 11 in the night, I had to remove all wet clothes from washer , hand-wash them all and then put in dryer. To make bathroom usable again, we had to clean up the huge water flooding as well. It was pointless to ask owner of house at late night to send someone to help so we handled it ourselves by hand washing our load. Completely ruined our stay. There are lots of well maintained properties in the area. I would avoid this one. I also asked owner for tiny compensation for all the hassle we had to go through but received no response.

Our stay was unfortunately disappointing, as there were several issues that affected our experience.During a long power outage, there was no hot water due to the electric water heater, there were no basic items such as flashlights or candles available in the house. The water coming from the faucets was gray, which made us uncomfortable using it.There were also cleanliness and maintenance concerns. The kitchen sink had a noticeable dead-animal odor, and the ice container had what appeared to be white mold. The carpet appears to be very old and possibly original to the property. The floors creaks significantly, which is disruptive, especially at night.Some photos in the listing do not appear to accurately reflect the current decor of the property. A blind in the master bedroom is too short allowing significant early-morning light into the room. Although the listing advertises that the property sleeps six, there are only five beds, which was also disappointing.After our stay, I contacted the host and requested a courtesy partial refund given the number of issues we experienced. Unfortunately, our request was declined.The owner should addresses these issues so future guests have a better experience.

Even if the place is located right off a major road it is far enough to be a quiet neighborhood. Lots of backyard space.

An okay stay

The property was cute very spacious. Did not have fully stocked toilet paper and paper towels was told we needed to buy more if we needed only one garbage bag for a group of 6 people for 2 nights stay garbage from previous guests were stacked in the garage so was kinda stinky when went in there. Location was nice and lots of snow in the front for the kids to play in the drive way is VERY narrow which wasn't a big deal but there are a BUNCH OF LONG stick sticking out ir the ground (snow) that is hanging iver the drive way so we were not able got get in and out of our cars on that side scratched the aod of my truck because we got there after dark because check in is at 4pm and wouldn't let us check in a little early and we drove 3 hours to get there . Very nice house though. Love the layout

Nice for the price

The property is conveniently located and has a flat easy-access driveway when there's snow. The house has charming architecture and the furniture is in good condition. Lots of windows and views. Note that the ground floor levels are *not* currently boarded up in winter; instead they are protected from the snow with metal grates that don't obstruct the view. Downsides: toilets are small and don't flush reliably; no soap or shampoo in the showers; no firewood; we nearly ran out of toilet paper.

Great Get-a-Away Space

A great little place for relaxing. Nice and quiet neighborhood. The only downfall is that when you are backing out, you are backing out into on-coming traffic both ways.

Great Family Getaway

We went with our immediate family and my brother and his son. The kids LOVED it. They in the snow ALL day. Close to Tahoe Donner ski resort and a local well organized, COvid-safe sled park was close by. Near Downtown Truckee, would love to visit again.

Great location for cross country and snow shoeing. Some issues...

We arrived after a big snow storm, all roads and driveway plowed. The windows in the living room and dining room were boarded up due to snow accumulation. Totally understandable that the back patio is not cleared of snow in the winter, but since the main photo of the property is of the lovely big windows in the living area, we think that should be disclosed. It made it dark inside, and we were there to see the snow which can only be seen by going upstairs. Also, many of the cell blinds were broken, so letting natural light in was a real issue. In addition to that, the principle burner on the electric stove only has one setting, which is high, so watch out when cooking. t There was a huge accumulation of snow over the front porch which we thought looked dangerous, and we told a property manager who had stopped by our first day and she agreed. Day 3, we heard a huge crash, and it was the snow and ice that had fallen, just as we had predicted. Luckily no one was hurt. We notified the management company of all of this upon our return, and have not received an answer back as of yet.
