I’ll preface this review by saying the host (Candice) was very responsive and attempted to resolve the issues she could. However, the property is simply filthy and not ready for renters. I know the house is on the market and seems like maybe the owners just don’t care anymore. Here are the main issues with our stay:- No coffee maker upon arrival (host had one delivered)- No ping pong balls - game room was a selling point for us (host had some delivered)- Grill was so dirty, looked like it had never been cleaned, food crusted all over it, no grill brush, no grill utensils (host had new grill delivered)- most disgusting was the absurd amount of dog hair on all mattress covers- Filthy floors, couldn’t walk barefoot- Furniture smells terrible, had to cover them with blankets for kids to sit - I didn’t sit on anything except a dining room chair all week.- No iron or ironing board- the twin bedroom was so disgusting we couldn’t even use it - Yard is a disaster- Smell in the house is unbearable (should’ve assumed since it is pet friendly)- Broken, dirty toaster (host did have one delivered)- Faucets in 2 bathrooms busted- toilet seat in 1/2 bath busted - we pulled out trundle bed to find mouse poop on the mattress (and LOTS of it)- Constant beep from fireplace (every 3 secs, never stopped)- No working vacuum- bikes all busted with flat tires - Most windows are missing screens, couple that have one are ripped (thank god for the great AC)Would never stay here again

Amazing!!

Just returned home from our 3 night, 4 day vacation at the Candice House. The trip was for my sons college graduation from UNE in Biddeford ME but we had enough time to enjoy the surrounding areas of interest (shopping and eating in the Village and walking on the beach). The beach was so close and even the walk to it was gorgeous! The whole family got a kick out of the house with the fairy village in their yard. The Village offered a variety of shops to explore and we explored all of them. There were 4 adults, 3 children (ages 11-17), 1 infant and the family dog in our group (3 generations of our family) and the Candice House gave us plenty of room for everyone, it was perfectly set up. My 17 yr old son slept in the bedroom off the garage/game room and he was thankful to have some privacy from his younger family members. The pool table and ping-pong table were a huge hit and got used until the second we left. We enjoyed having coffee out on the deck every morning. The kids enjoyed all of the bikes and took occasional bike rides. Other than some rain late Saturday afternoon/night the weather was wonderful, nothing that kept us from keeping busy. It would be nice to return in the full swing of summer so the beach could be used for swimming but just walking it was equally as enjoyable! I definitely over-packed with household items (laundry det, dish det, paper towels, etc...) as this was my first time renting a whole house and Candice said just bring linens, dish towels and bath towels. I should have listened because that was all I needed to bring. The house has everything you could need with the exception of food, and I mean everything. There were even full bottles of body wash for men and women as well as laundry det and dryer sheets. There wasn't one room in the house that we didn't absolutely adore (the large bathroom with the Jacuzzi tub- awesome!) My husband is medically disabled and having the Jacuzzi helped keep him moving with less pain. I really could go on and on but I won't. If anyone is looking for a large, opened concept, well maintained, updated, clean home to unwind for a short or lengthy period of time, I highly recommend staying at the Candice House. My family did not want to leave and ALL of us agreed that we need to return as soon as possible. Next time we will stay longer though. Thank-you Candice Family!! Sincerely, The Murphy/Thayer Family

Great location between beach and town

They had fun games like ping pong and small pool tables. Also a Foosball game that was used evenings because we had good weather all week. Of course good amenities for cooking and dining spaces.

Great vacation in Kennebunkport!

Perfect vacation in Kennebunkport. Loved the location of the home. Quick walk to the beach and town. Nice deck in the back yard, bright sunny kitchen & dining area, plenty of bathrooms. Our family of 5 had plenty of space. Can not wait to return. Candice was the perfect host and super easy to contact with any questions.

Best Location!

My family of 10 (6 adults 4 kids) went away to celebrate our parents 50th anniversary. We had a wonderful time!! The location was perfect we walked everywhere. Kids were old enough to walk back from beach, we all walked to town to get dinner or snacks most everyday! We all said it was the best vacation we have had in Maine. Even the two dogs we brought had a fun time playing on the beach in the morning and night!

Great location!

Just a few minutes walk to Gooch Beach and an easy walk to downtown Kennebunkport made this house the perfect location for our family. House was spacious and well maintained. We enjoyed our time in Kennebunk!

Great house and location!

My husband and I with our 3 teenagers stayed here. The house offered plenty of space for everyone to relax. The game room offered lots of fun for us. The house is a short walk to the beach and just a little bit longer walk to the downtown area. This made things super convenient not having to worry about parking. We all enjoyed our stay!

Fantastic Location

Tough to beat the location of this property which is a very easy walk to the beach and bike ride into town on provided bikes. Very kid-friendly with fun game room in garage and nice deck in the back. We had a great time!

Great Location

This house is an ideal location. It's an easy walk to the beach and a very simple walk into town. It has plenty of room and several bathrooms. Candace is very responsive and extremely helpful. It does have the feeling of a beach rental--and could benefit from just a few extra touches, like a deep clean of the house and lawn and review/update of the kitchen implements and pots and pans and serving dishes.

Very good but....

The place was great and met our family’s needs but several of the utilities-a bathroom and the air conditioning -were not in good working order. Small details such as a pump for the bikes- all came with flat tires- were missing and the refrigerator which was designed with no easy way to open its doors were bothersome. It felt like we were the test team for the home to debug it for future tenants. But overall we had a great time and if we return next year we would rent the home again.

Wonderful property so close to Gooch Beach and Dock Square

We stayed here at the end of August. We had plenty of room with a family if four. One could easily accomodate two families with the three bedrooms and the extra two twin beds in the garage annex. Very modern updates with subzero fridge, thermidor range and ge profile oven. Kids had plenty of fun playing ping pong, pool, and foosball. There is a large television in living room for everyine to unwind at night and another tv in the garage and a smaller one jn the "kids" bunkrooom. On beach avenue but quiet at night. Air conditioning worked great as it was unseasonably warm the first three days of our vacation. Gooch beach is a short 10 minute walk. The house had a nice cart to facilitate bringing our stuff to the beach. Dock square was about 15 to 20 minute walk so one did not have to battle for parking. A gem in kennebunkport with all the amenities one needs to unwind. Definitely would consider booking again when we return!

Fantastic House

This house was perfect for our family of 6. Two teenagers and my 85 year old parents. Easy walk to the beach. You can hear the ocean, but are not bombarded by the wind. Kennebunk is also an easy walk and a fabulous town. House is on busy Beach Avenue, but it is really quiet in the house, you don’t here the traffic. Air conditioning works well. Lots of fun spaces with table tennis, pool, air hockey, etc. We will rent the same home when we return.

We loved it, all ten of us - myself, my two daughters, their husbands, and all five grandchidren.

We especially loved that it is just a short walk to the beach, that the house has a ping pong table and a pool table, and had the bicycles (although one of them had a flat tire and some of them needed repairs to the handlebars - my son's-in-law tried to repair them but could find no tools to do so! But a couple of the bikes got lots of use). Although we didn't use the TV much, it was nice to have it, along with the cable access. We did quite a bit of cooking (went out for dinner very little). For us it would have been nice to have a large pot besides the steamer-type pot, and a few more larger serving dishes, but we managed with what was available. Also, we had to purchase ice cube trays since we could not find any in the house. Although we all did a lot of cleaning before we left, the dishwasher was not finished before we had to be out by 10 am, so we couldn't reshelve the clean dishes because the dishwasher was not finished before we had to leave. We put the trash barrels out as we left and hope that is what we were supposed to do. (When we arrived, the previous renters had put them out already, and the trash was picked up Monday morning.) It is a beautiful house and we loved having the opportunity to stay there. Thank you!

Beautiful House with Everything you need

We stayed at this house last week. We were 6 adults and 6 kids. This house was perfect for us. Everything we could possibly need was available to us. The owners have thought about everything. It is beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and the game tables were incredible. The kids and adults were very busy playing pool, air hockey, ping pong, foosball, chess, etc. For having 12 people in the house, it never felt crowded. The location is great too, an easy walk to the beach and town. We already booked for next year!

The owners have spent many happy memories in the Kennebunks as children with their parents and fell in love with this treasure in the heart of Kennebunk steps from Gooch's beach and Dock Square! This is a wonderful place to visit and many happy memories can be made here that will last a lifetime!

The proximity to Gooch's Beach goes without saying but the added bonuses of the garage being turned into a game room with a wall mounted tv and a bar, the 6 cruiser bikes for guests to enjoy, the patio behind the house. There isn't anything that these owners haven't thought of to make your stay a memorable one!
