This home is NOT pet friendly. Exterior security device - A Ring video doorbell is located beside the main entrance. It records video and audio when activated and monitors only the front-door entrance and immediate approach. It does not view any interior space or private outdoor guest area.

It had everything we needed and the furnishings were definitely upgraded from other rentals. The view with the large deck was fabulous! I would not hesitate to rent this cottage again. The owners truly thought of everything!

Nice home, but needs more attention prior to renter occupancy

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is beautiful with comfortable furniture. Kitchen was well-appointed. However, we were very disappointed that our very expensive "luxury" rental was lacking oversight by the management company to see that the rental was in perfect order before we arrived. The ice machine was broken and not repaired while we were there. There were dirty mugs and dishes in the cabinets, which management blamed on the previous renters, but we quickly discovered that the dishwasher does not work properly, which Appliance Repair guy confirmed. There was sand on counters and outside deck (& fire ants) from previous tenents. The a/c air filters were filthy, so we replaced them. Management should do a walk-through between renters. Also, for a large house, an additional recycle bin should be provided. One is not adequate for 22 people. Although we had a really great week, and communication with Landmark was prompt, we were disappointed by the issues that could have been avoided if more oversight and attention to detail was provided.

Thank you for your feedback. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed the home, its comfortable furnishings, the well-appointed kitchen, and that our team was responsive during your stay. We'd like to provide a little additional context regarding some of the concerns you mentioned. Prior to your arrival, we notified you that one of the dishwashers was not operating properly and that we were awaiting a replacement part to complete the repair. Unfortunately, it was not available before your stay. As an oceanfront home, some sand on the exterior decks is an unavoidable part of beach living, particularly with the coastal winds. We do, however, make every effort to have the outdoor spaces cleaned and ready for each arrival. Our team also performs a walkthrough between guests, and HVAC air filters are routinely inspected and replaced as part of our maintenance program. While we strive to have every home in excellent condition for each guest, occasional issues can arise despite these efforts. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue improving our processes.

The house was wonderful and accomodated our large family well! The home felt larger in person than the photos made it feel online, which is always a nice surprise (specifically in the kitchen/ dining/ family room area)! The deck was spacious and the walk to the beach was easy (shorter and less steep than other similar beach front properties). It was great to have linens provided and be able to rent beach chairs as well. We used the hot tub and it was clean and worked well. Each King bedroom on the main floor having it's own provate bath was a game changer and they were the perfect size. You also don't hear noises from the living area and other bedrooms despite being close to one another. A few small things we would like to see updated before we come back next year to this property is to have a broom in the house to use for the kitchen floors and deck to manage the sand. There are two small Dyson vaccumms but one didn't work and the other didn't really pick anything up on the carpets in the living room and bedrooms. The basement did have a dehumidifier which we kept emptied, but still had a musty smell in the bedrooms down there. Not sure what could be done about that, but that was really the only thing that wasn't desirable about the basement. It was nice to have the ice maker and extra full sized fridge in the basement as well! Overall we loved the house and the location and have already booked it again for next Summer.

It was great to have three separate living areas, comfortable beds for everyone and a well equipped kitchen. We have rented beach houses for over 50 years in NC and were impressed with the details (e.g., laundry baskets, hand soap dispensers). Kudos to Landmark Vacations for handling an issue with the 3rd floor AC so quickly. A few suggestions: trash cans in the 3rd floor bathrooms, some extra blankets for the beds, and fans for the beautiful deck. All in all, it was a wonderful home and we appreciated all comforts provided!

The good and bad

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was good for a large family or group of friends. The layout was nice and the deck for the evenings was a great place to hang out. The location was great. Now for the not so good. The place was not cleaned very well the return air vent was very dusty didn’t look like it has been cleaned all summer. The air vents in the ceiling very dusty as well. Mattress pads on the bunk beds had stains on them took 3 days to get new ones. The downstairs refrigerator and ice maker was very dirty had to have the cleaning company come back to clean it. We had to fix the ice maker for it to produce ice, a couple cabinet doors needed fixed they were about to fall off the hinges, the water dispenser and ice in the kitchen don’t work very well because the refrigerator needs a new filter. You don’t pay good money for a vacation house and have to do work and for it not to be clean.
