We’re so sorry this happened during your stay. It was certainly an unusual situation and not the experience we want any of our guests to have. I personally removed the banana and can confirm that while it was very brown and overripe, there was no mould or indication that it had been sitting there for weeks. I had also completed the post-clean quality check prior to your arrival and did not see any fruit flies at that time, nor did our cleaner. The windows had intentionally been left slightly open because it was a particularly warm day and the condo does not have air conditioning. Unfortunately, it appears the warm temperatures combined with the banana being left by the previous guest on the top shelf of a closed kitchen cupboard caused it to deteriorate very quickly and created the perfect conditions for fruit flies. Once you contacted us, we genuinely tried to resolve the situation. Over the course of your five-night stay, I and members of our cleaning team attended the property five separate times to clean, empty and replace fruit-fly traps, and treat the affected areas. We purchased additional traps and treatment products and also contacted a professional exterminator for advice, whose recommendations we followed. We offered compensation for the inconvenience and also offered to assist you in finding alternative accommodation without penalty if you preferred not to remain in the condo. You ultimately chose to stay for the remainder of the reservation, and we continued working to improve the situation throughout your stay. I am genuinely sorry that the fruit flies impacted your vacation and that you were dissatisfied with how the situation was handled. While we clearly wish this had never happened, we did take your concerns seriously and made every effort we could to address the issue throughout your stay.
