Welcome to a retreat in nature where you’re surrounded by mountain majesty: the House at Braeside - a historic home nestled into the hills surrounding Rocky Mountain National Park.

Our four bedroom three bathroom gem was built in 1920 by Arne Oldberg, a pianist and composer who established the Rocky Mountain Music Festival on this large tract of land. A professor at Northwestern University’s school of music for forty years, Arne turned the summer residence into a year-round home where three generations of the Oldberg Family occupied the House for more than a century. In the middle part of the 20th century luminaries such as composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff and contralto Marian Anderson were welcomed to the Cabin.

Enjoy refined cabin living with modern comforts, including plenty of room to spread out after a day in nature. Enjoy a drink on the front porch, or retreat to the spacious deck with views of Longs Peak. When you’re ready to head inside, the dark wood walls of the living room will envelop you in the House’s history, as countless others have rested their bodies and minds after a long day of exploring. This home does not have AC.

We welcome you and your family to enjoy all the House at Braeside has to offer, including easy access to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park (just 2 minutes up the road: no need to traverse a busy downtown Estes Park), the facilities of the YMCA, and numerous points outside the Park.

The House at Braeside sleeps 8 in four bedrooms (first floor king, second floor has two bedrooms with queen beds, and another bedroom with twin beds) and can accommodate an additional 2 guests in the living room. This is the perfect place for your family and friends.

This home is fully stocked with bed linens, towels, extra blankets, soaps and shampoo. The kitchen has pots, pans and dishes plus silverware. A standard coffee maker,(coffee bar) toaster, blender, Air fryer, Mixer, crock pot too. A washer and dryer with laundry pods to use.


This home is managed by Rocky Mountains Property Services, a family owned and operated business local to Estes Park.

Rocky Mountain National Park will implement another pilot temporary timed entry permit reservation system from May 22 through October 19, 2026 If you plan on visiting Rocky Mountain National Park during your stay please visit their website for details about reservations.

The location of this rental is excellent. In addition, the price we paid to have a place with four bedrooms and three bathrooms was very reasonable. It was equipped with everything we needed.

Location, location, location! This cabin provided our extended family the perfect vacation home. It was around the corner from the RMNP entrance. The setting in the woods was perfect, and the various common spaces in the home (and on the deck) provided us room to spread out comfortably while still being together. The kitchen, laundry room, and bathrooms were well-equipped. Excellent WiFi too!

Historic old cabin on the edge of RMNP

The location was excellent if you are visiting the park. Very close to Estes Park with plenty of shopping and eating places. The road down the hill from the cabin was a very busy road that dead ended another 2 miles west at an entrance to a YMCA camp. We were surprised at how much traffic there was on the road but then again it was a holiday weekend and the camp was receiving campers.The house was spacious and had plenty of room for our family of eight. All appliances worked well and grill worked well. There were plenty of animals around and across the street was a raging river "The Big Thompson. Nice to hear when going to bed.All in all it was a nice place to stay for being built in the early 1900's. Rather classic

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful historic home. The highlight is the gorgeous view from the living Room and patio of Longs Peak.   The location is fantastic, with easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park and everything Estes Park has to offer. The house itself is old and full of character, and it was very clean and thoughtfully appointed with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.One thing to be aware of is that the home sits close to the road so you do hear road noise. Overall, this is a comfortable home in a wonderful location, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The historic house at Braeside was a very charming and roomie place to stay. It fit our party of 10 quite well. There were some snags with electrical issues, that the Host had made arrangements to fix before we got there, but wasn’t communicated with us before getting there. The house was very clean, but some attention to the backyard area was needed. Given how busy Estes is during the tourist season, the cabin was out of the way and provided some nice quiet privacy, yet was very close to Rocky Mountain National Park with easy access to downtown and shopping. All in all Historic House at Breaside was a terrific stay!
