Acorn Hill Cabin in Jeffersonville
Enjoy a tucked away stay in the heart of the Green Mountains just minutes from Jeffersonville and Smugglers' Notch Resort and 45 min/1 hr from Stowe Village & Downtown Burlington, respectively. With more amenities and fewer people than a state park cabin, glamping here is easy. Experience the sounds of the birds and frogs in the pond and hike our private land. Off property activities include paddling, traditional and disc golf, art galleries, local breweries, live music, and exploring the amazing geology of Smugglers' Notch.
Acorn Hill Cabin is nestled against a wooded hillside with private trails for walking on over 20 acres. The air, water, and land is pristine. Wildlife is abundant, and we are home to an amazing variety of migratory birds as well as birds of prey. There is a small pond that is home to frogs and salamanders and contributes to the diversity of our ecosystem. It is not a swimming pond, but kids can have loads of fun catching (and releasing) large, green frogs.
The cabin is small, 16x16, but has all the necessities. There is a double bed downstairs and a double futon in the loft. The dining area can accommodate up to four people.
The kitchen is equipped with all the necessities including a French press coffee maker, toaster oven, gas stove/oven, a full-size refrigerator, pots and pans, dishware, and utensils. (no microwave)
There is hot running (non-potable) water in the showers and sink. We provide large dispensers (and refills) of the purest well water you've ever tasted for drinking and cooking. Please bring reusable water bottles (not a plethora of plastic "disposable" ones).
The bathroom has a camp-size shower and an odorless, indoor composting toilet. No need to venture to an outhouse!
We welcome your fur-babies, but please no more than two. They must be kept on a leash in the yard at all times, unless they are playing with our dog and owners are present. The yard is not fenced. You are welcome to walk your dog(s) off-leash in the woods. Please do not leave your dogs in the cabin alone while you go out on an adventure, and of course, please clean up after them.
Acorn Hill is a functioning homestead. We grow almost all the produce we eat. We do not have animals other than our pets though. We'd be happy to give you a garden tour upon request and appreciate you appreciating our gardens from outside the fence at other times. In July, the owners start putting up food for winter. Feel free to stop by and check out the process. We are happy to answer questions you may have about canning and pickling. We are also busy with other chores during the summer and fall months, some (but not many) of which such as harvesting and processing firewood, may be loud during daytime hours.
We appreciate you refraining from smoking tobacco on property and using phosphate-containing cleaners. The cabin is stocked with plant-based cleaners for your convenience. Since the cabin is chemical-free, the occasional insect may wander through. It is a cabin in the woods, after all. Speaking of things that live in the woods, it's worth mentioning that we have a host of garter snakes on the property. They live in the stone walls and hunt in the tall grass. Garter snakes are harmless and do a great job of keeping the rodent population in check which, in turn, helps control the ticks. So, if you see a snake, just pause, and it will slither away.
Acorn Hill Homestead is not only our treasured home. We are stewards of the Earth, and the land provides what we need. We honor the Indigenous people, the Abenaki, who lived here and cared for this land before us.
All positive, earth-loving, and human-caring folks are welcome here!

GETTING HERE & PREPAREDNESS
Acorn Hill Cabin is located at the top of a half-mile-long private road. The road is dirt and a bit rugged. A low clearance vehicle will need to be driven strategically to manage the variations in the road. All or 4-wheel drive is not necessary in the spring, summer, and fall but required in winter. We do not accommodate guests in mud season (early spring).
It is rural! There is a small market in Cambridge and one in Jeffersonville where you can pick up the basics. The nearest large grocery store is 45 minutes away. Plan accordingly.
Parking is approximately 150 feet from the front door of the cabin. There is a small bridge and steps without a railing leading up to it. We are working improving accessibility, but currently the cabin is not accessible for someone with a mobility impairment. The path to the cabin is lightly lit with solar ground lighting. Headlamps are recommended for nighttime arrivals in case it has been a cloudy day and the lights are low.
