I’ll start by saying Laura, the host, was responsive. However, when I arrived, the rental had flies and had not been thoroughly cleaned. I initially tried to make the best of it since I had already paid in full. The next day, I contacted Laura because the Wi-Fi was unreliable for work and shared photos of several maintenance and cleanliness issues. She apologized, offered a 10% refund, and suggested I contact VRBO for a full refund. After reviewing my photos and messages with Laura, VRBO approved a full refund. I told them I was willing to pay for the nights I stayed but did not feel comfortable remaining for the final seven days. VRBO told me I could check out by 2:00 p.m. Unfortunately, the checkout became stressful. Housekeeping arrived early, then VRBO called back saying I had to leave immediately or Laura would call the police. Despite explaining what I had been told, I continued receiving threats through VRBO. Laura gave me only 10 minutes to pack before again threatening to call the police. I had to leave in such a rush that I left food behind. I was also wrongly accused of failing to disclose my dog. VRBO later confirmed, after reviewing the recorded call, that their supervisor had told me I could stay until 2:00 p.m., but they never communicated that to Laura. The entire experience was unnecessarily stressful and handled very poorly. Luckily, I was refunded for the stay and groceries, but I will never forget how I was treated.
