We would love for you to have an amazing stay. Please read these rules before booking. By booking this property, you agree to abide by these rules. Thank you! Check in is at 4 PM. We cannot offer early check-ins or late departures. This is to allow our cleaning crew plenty of time to make sure the property is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before and after your stay. Check out is at 10 AM. Our cleaners need time to clean the property before the next guest arrive, as same-day turnovers are common. Please respect their time and vacate the property by 10 AM. You will be charged $200 for each half hour after 10AM checkout that you are still on the premises. Please remember this is someone's home that you are staying at. Be respectful of their home and surrounding neighbors. Please ensure that your total number of guests matches that on your booking. If you are found to have more than the number of guests on your booking you will be asked to leave with no refund. Absolutely no smoking or parties. If the owner/property manager is informed of any parties taking place on the property, you will be asked to leave with no refund for the remainder of your rental nights. If the cops shall be called to this property we will ask the guest to leave immediately with no refund. Quiet time starts at 10 PM and remains in effect until 9 AM. Please be courteous of the neighbors surrounding you. Any evidence of smoking inside the property or on the premises will result in an additional $500 fee or the cost of having the property treated for smoke damage. Personal Belongings. We are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. Items left behind after your stay are not the responsibility of the homeowner/property manager. Please thoroughly check for you personal items before departing. Furnishings and home cleanliness. Please keep the property and all furnishings in good order. Removing any items from the property is not permitted. If any damages to furnishings or property occur during your stay, please contact the owner immediately. If the property is found to need more than a normal clean. Guest will pay for the extra cleaning charge. Refunds. Owner cannot guarantee against mechanical failure of heating, air conditioning, Hot Tubs, pools, TV's, Wi-Fi or appliances. Please report any inoperative equipment to the owner/property manager immediately. We will make every reasonable effort to have repairs done quickly and efficiently. NO refunds will be made due to failure of appliances, equipment, or amenities. NO Refunds for early departures. No refunds for delayed arrival. Starter Pack. We provide a starter pack of paper towels, 2 rolls of TP per bathroom, 2 dishwasher tabs, dish soap/sponge, a starter supply of laundry pods or soap, 2 trash liners per can. Longer stays may require you to purchase additional items if needed. Trash. Any garbage must be placed in a proper receptacle outside, located near the driveway. Please empty the fridge, and take trash out before your departure. Please DO NOT place trash on the top of the outside bins.

Beautifully located

Loved our stay. The cabin is lovely and had all the amenities we needed. The sunsets were gorgeous and the decks were amazing - we ate dinner out on them every night. Would have given the place 5 stars, but the beach was almost non-existant due to high water levels, which is totally outside the owners control.

Great getaway location

Spent a lovely long weekend with girlfriends enjoying the beautiful views and relaxing in the gazebo. The walk along the beach is just what we all needed. Loved shopping and site seeing in the South Haven area. Everything was clean and pristine. Loved our stay - definitely recommend this vacation rental.

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was a perfect spot for our girls weekend!

The cottage is remote and peaceful. It is an easy drive to SoHa. The beach was nonexistent when we were there, so that was a little disappointing; however, the view is very pretty. Beds were comfy and kitchen had everything we needed. The gazebo was awesome!

Beautiful beachfront home!

This home was beautifully furnished and had a wonderful beachfront location. We hardly left during our four day stay as it was such a lovely property. We had seven people in our group, and we all slept comfortably. Jim sent us lots of helpful details and we were welcome to many of his home's amenities, which was very hospitable. We had a great time and can't wait to be back!

Beautiful cottage, gorgeous views, a once-in-a-life-time vacation!

What a beautiful cottage facing the lake and backing by the woods. Gorgeous views from inside and outside the cottage. We have seen the sunsets every night, and every night presented the views uniquely magnificent. There were so much to do for everyone around the property and nearby. Thanks to Mr. Atkinson for giving us the opportunity to have this once-in-a-life-time vacation.

Well-cared for comfortable home with spectacular lake views! Four season Gazebo is a delight!

We enjoyed a long weekend getaway for 2, although this well-designed cottage can accommodate family gatherings as well. Large living area windows provide panoramic views of Lake Michigan! The cottage and separate Gazebo exceeded our expectations! Close to great food, shopping...and ice cream at Sherman's!! The owner was very helpful and responsive throughout our stay and did a great job in making us feel welcome in this beautiful setting. We will most certainly be back and would highly recommend this property to all!!

Great Getaway on Lake Michigan

We had a really good time at this cottage. It was fairly private (only one neighbor on the south side) and had wonderful views of the lake. Lots of amenities like a fully-stocked kitchen and indoor fireplace. The "gazebo" (basically a stand-alone three season room) and accompanying deck were our favorite place to just chill out during our stay. Jim also was very good at staying in touch and ensuring that we had a pleasant visit. After this trip we fully plan on returning. Do be aware that while there is wifi it has a limited data cap and T-Mobile does not get cellular service (can't speak to other carriers). But you're here to get away, right?

Relaxing, Quiet Getaway

We rented this cottage for a long weekend. It is located in a wooded, private area, right off of Lake Michigan. The views of the lake are spectacular. The home is comfortable and cozy, with everything you would need for a weekend stay. There is a perfectly placed hammock with views of the lake. There is also an enclosed gazebo that was perfect for relaxing and watching movies. We loved that the beach was secluded and quiet. We did not have great weather for swimming, kayaking, etc. but the owner has all of the beach equipment you would need to enjoy a day out by the lake. He also provided very helpful information about how to get there, since it's off the beaten path, and about the area. We were very happy with our stay.

A Great Place to Relax

We are a busy family who was able to take a break together before we all go our separate ways for summer jobs & activities. Just take a deep breath & enjoy! From the moment you drive up the dune to the cabin to when you explore all the cool spots the kids can hang out, you will be in a world where cell phones are silenced & the birds are chirping. We loved that we could get sun during the day & snuggle by the fire in the evening (with the amazing sound system). The perfect swing of PURE Michigan temps. Thank you, Jim, for sharing your beautiful home & gazebo with my family. You are the perfect host. Many blessings!

A most enjoyable and relaxing weekend

My wife and I relocated to Phoenix after a lifetime in the Chicago suburbs, our two daughters and families still live in Chicago. We chose this location for our family reunion because it was a short drive and because we know how beautiful South Haven is. The pictures of the condo really represented the property perfectly. The weather wasn't the greatest for our weekend getaway but there was no shortage of things to do. The gazebo was a great place to hang around and chat and the town of South Haven has a lot of great restaurants and is a nice place for a stroll. The owner provided us with all the information you could possibly need for your stay. I would highly recommend this property...you wont be disappointed. The Covington's (June 2016)

Wonderful location and views

First, let me say this review is not just from a customer but somebody who also owns vacation property. We enjoyed our stay wonderfully and the privacy of this area was top notch. However, I feel the business side of me has some advice; 1- pressure wash all of the woodwork and get it sparkling. 2- get a landscaper for a full day and get it back to what it used to be, it's very overgrown and takes away from the beauty of the cottage and the views. 3- hire a handyman for a day and fix all of the window crank handles. Over half of the handles don't crank right and then you have to walk outside to put them back on their track. Very frustrating . I think this place would be five stars simply by doing these three things. Thank you for allowing us to use your home.

Peaceful, comfortable, amazing lake views but unreliable beach

Very comfortable relaxing cozy home with fantastic lake and sunset views. Well-stocked home, responsive host, fab blackout shades, comfortable beds. Great location and easy to use house codes to come and go. The watchouts - - the beach is beautiful but comes and goes so don't rely on having a beach when booking. we only got to walk along it for a one early evening and then the rest of the time the tides completely took over - construction was going on at the house with someone showing up at the house at 7:30am to begin work and tools all over the gazebo space which garnered it unusable. The host gave us a discount for our troubles but definitely make sure that there won't be work being done while you're there if you are hoping for a peaceful respite. - there isn't great outdoor space -- no firepit, a few uncomfortable plastic chairs facing the water and a hammock on the driveway (not lake) side of the house. we had our own little happy hour on the plastic chairs with amazing views but its not a space you want to curl up and hang out in. - shower water smells like sulfur which is typical for well water but good to know ahead of time if you're not used to that.

Perfect get away for our small family

We enjoyed an entire week at this serene cabin. My husband,2 year old daughter and I enjoyed every quiet luxury offered, from the secluded location to the well appointed furnishings. This water front property is ideal for an escape from technology but provides a satellite tv in one bedroom as well as internet connectivity. (The internet is not strong enough to stream movies but I was able to send and receive emails, search the internet and generally stay connected with no problems.). The gazebo offer a fun location to watch movies but we didn't use it much because we preferred the more comfortable furniture in the main cabin. The kitchen is small but had everything we needs to cook meals. The master bed in the loft is very comfortable. The wood burning fireplace (wood provided) provided our early fall vacation with just the right amount of warmth too! We used the bikes provided by the owners to explore the town and bike trails. Great fun with our daughter who still talks about feeding the duckies along the way! We also enjoyed the large property that accompanies the cabin. We played in the wood nearly every day collecting acorns and leaves. The private beach is well maintained. The water was cool but we still splashed around at the edge almost every day. The cabin is conveniently located near grocery stores and restaurants. We really loved our get away and will definitely be back next year!

Beautiful property!!

We loved this place! It is a beautiful location with a lot of privacy. You have your own set of stairs to the beach which is really convenient. I will say there is not a lot of beach but I think that is pretty common around Lake Michigan this year. There are also a lot of rocks near the water and a few feet into the water so swimming was a little difficult without shoes. The inside is nicely furnished with everything you could need in the kitchen and a nice table to sit at and eat with a larger group. The upstairs master is large and comfortable but opens to the rest of the house in a loft style so you can hear pretty much everything going on downstairs. Our favorite part was the large deck outside where we spent most of our days. It was a little too cold down by the water most days and we had a little one so it was easier to stay close to the house. The gazebo was also a great place to hang out and watch movies. Downtown South Haven is really close and easy to get to and find and there is also a Meijer very close by where we bought all our groceries for the week. The only complaints we had were that the downstairs beds and bedrooms are pretty small. Also the only TV with cable is in one of these bedrooms in the main house. There is no cable in the gazebo which was kind of surprising. We were there during the NBA finals, otherwise I don't think we would have minded but it was a little tough to watch, especially when we had been using that room for the baby to sleep in. Overall, I would highly recommend this place and would definitely go back again.

Beautiful home for my a birthday getaway with my Mom and sister. The house is lovely with a well appointed kitchen. The highlight of our stay was the deck and gazebo. We spent almost our entire stay up there enjoying the view. Gorgeous and so peaceful!

Excellent property with beautiful views of Lake Michigan!

My adult children, wife and I could not have found a more beautiful, clean, amazing house with spectacular views of Lake Michigan. Even though the place had a large screen TV in the Gazebo, we never felt the urge to turn it on since the outside view of the lake, the stars, and the forested surroundings were too awesome to ignore!

The Perfect Weekend!

Quaint and classy! This beautiful lake home overlooking Lake Michigan was exactly what we were looking for . . . a quiet oasis, spectacular views, just minutes from the town of South Haven and with hiking literally right next door! The perfect romantic weekend getaway!

Great views from several areas, inside and outside the house.

The house itself was fine. I was a little disappointed in the condition of the gazebo. It was very dirty inside, tools and things in and around it. Path to the gazebo was not lit at all, which made it difficult at night. I am not sure if the gazebo area was quite ready for visitors. Also, someone showed up at the house to start working at 8:00 AM the day of our check out, which was a little surprising. Overall, we had a great weekend.

Amazing views, peaceful retreat.

Beautiful location with incredible views. Comfortable, well-decorated cabin. Hours spent each day enjoying Lake Michigan swimming, kayaking, and walking the beach. Gorgeous sunsets. Great place to unwind and spend quality time together.

Brilliant location, views and cottage!

We traveled up from Indiana with family that flew in from Ireland. It was like a home away from home. Lovely cool weather, beautiful scenery, and a cozy little cottage to stay in. The only thing missing was the rain, and everyone was happy about that!! We had a wonderful experience. We didn't meet the owner in person, but spoke with him on the phone. He was very nice and was very helpful. His cottage is lovely. Great place to stay!!
