The house was beautiful. Very well stocked with just about anything you could think of from toiletries, cooking supplies, spices, games and kid essentials. The only thing we were disappointed in was that we were not able to walk into town from the house. We didn’t feel safe as there were no sidewalks for part of the way and with the traffic and curves in the road we weren’t comfortable walking with kids, however We did find a free public parking lot not to far from town that had a great sidewalk to walk with the kids in their wagon.

Great Stay

Place is as advertised and in a nice quiet area but walkable to downtown. Plenty of kid friendly things at the house to keep the little ones occupied. Definitely would recommend!

Perfect long weekend stay. House was very family friendly and well stocked with just what we needed and comfortable. My only complaint would be that it could be a little bit cleaner. The art room and the children’s books were a huge hit. The kids loved the trampoline and the adults loved the fire pit!

Wonderful stay!

This house was perfect for our family. It was located in a great neighborhood and close to downtown. Our kids really enjoyed the art room, swings, and roasting s'mores over the fire. The welcome basket from our host was so thoughtful with local goodies. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The house was AMAZING! We were there with our whole family and a toddler and this was the most kid friendly stay! The s’mores materials left by the host was a godsend and the fact that they had a pack and play meant one less thing to travel with (thank god). The house was incredibly clean and well organized. It is in a great location with easy access to town and beaches. We had so much fun and we thoroughly enjoyed the cool nights in the beautiful backyard. Thank you to our hosts for everything and a wonderful family getaway!

Perfect for families!

This house was awesome! It was full of charm and a kid’s dream! It was stocked with everything we needed and things we didn’t even know we needed. The kids had a blast and the neighborhood was adorable. It was close to everything and we fully expect to come back again!

The property was outstanding. Everyone loved it.

Micheal was very easy to work with and very responsive to questions/problems. Air conditioners in all bedrooms were nice given the hot weather. Very nice fire pit/sitting area in back. The location is perfect for going to dock square, Walker's point, Goose Rocks beach. We highly recommend this property.

It bothers me so much to write this review, but I feel like I was misled by other reviews & would not have chosen this property had it been clearer about what to expect. It makes no sense to me how this property is rated so highly. I’ll start with the PROS: the property is the same from the photos, check-in & check out processes were fine, the host was nice when we reached out w/ our issues, there are some details that were nice-lots of books and games, arts & craft room, gift basket for arrival. CONS: they advertised as family friendly & that is an overstatement—the only staircases were spiral without gates, they listed kid equipment (high chair) that they didn’t have and we didn’t bring bc of the listing, place was NOT clean—cleaners were negligent in making sure dirt, hair & trash from previous guests were disposed of, we also had stained bedding and towels, dirty utensils in drawers, the layout was not great for 2 families sharing a house, excessive bugs coming in from window unit ACs, and the moisture inside the house was definitely concerning. We tried air drying clothes we washed and it took two days for them to fully dry, not to mention both bathrooms had clear signs of mold. I reached out to the host several times with our grievances and it was clear that although he was empathetic, he was not able or willing to remedy—particularity the cleaning issues. They sent us a second gift basket as an apology, but no real action to correct what was wrong.

Sarah, thank you for the feedback. We were disappointed to hear that your stay did not meet expectations, particularly regarding the cleaning issues you raised. We have hosted families at our home for many years and take pride in the experience we provide. There were some things our cleaning team missed, including a food wrapper left in a bedside drawer and areas that should have received more attention. We take responsibility for that and have addressed it with our cleaners. In retrospect, I also wish I had offered to have someone return to the house during your stay rather than simply passing the concerns along. Because we had not previously had cleaning concerns raised during a stay, that solution did not occur to me at the time, but it is something I would handle differently in the future. I also want to provide some context on a few of the other issues mentioned. One towel had been used by a previous guest to remove makeup and, although it had been washed and bleached, it still had visible discoloration. It should have been removed from the property rather than returned to service. One sheet also had a small stain. Both have since been replaced. The high chair was incorrectly included in our listing. That was our mistake, and the listing has been corrected. Regarding the description of the home as family friendly, the spiral staircase is visible in our listing photos, and before Sarah's stay we specifically discussed the stairs and recommended bringing gates based on the ages of the children. We also answered a number of questions in advance about sleeping arrangements and the children's equipment available at the house so the family could plan accordingly. Our home is located in a wooded area of coastal Maine. During hot summer weather, humidity can be high, and insects can occasionally make their way inside despite normal efforts to keep them out. Those conditions can be more noticeable during the warmest parts of the summer and are part of staying in a wooded Maine setting. We are sorry that some legitimate cleaning misses affected this stay, and we have taken steps to address them. At the same time, we believe it is important for future guests reading this review to have the additional context above.

Perfect family vacation home

We have just spent a wonderful week’s holiday in Kennebunk Port while staying in this lovely family friendly home. The fully equipped craft room was the biggest hit for the kids and supplied them with hours of creative fun. There was more than enough room inside an out for our group of seven to enjoy together times and quiet alone times. Our host Michael went over and above what one would normally expect in ensuring we had everything needed to have a safe and very fun holiday. Many thanks Michael.

Best VRBO ever!

Oh where to start!! Extremely clean, very organized with everything needed. Went above and beyond to provide essentials and “just in case” items!! Beds are extremely comfortable and all rooms are very clean! The outside was great for kids and adults! Wish we would have done a little less “running around the area” and enjoyed the fire pit and large kitchen table more!! Sleeps 7 very comfortably (if a kid likes the top bunk lol). Owner provided a binder full of area information. I can’t say enough good things about the property AND the owners AND what they provided!!

Better than anticipated

Opening the door, we recognized the scene from the website. House was more spacious than it appeared on line. Back yard was perfect for nighttime bonfires. Kitchen had everything you could have wanted from large refrigerator to spices and ingredients. The welcome basket was unexpected and wonderful. Totally recommend this location- from the property to the owner. Loved it!

Beautiful property

We loved our stay in Kennebunkport, ME and the property was an ideal location for our large family. The property was completely stocked with everything you could think of and/or need, with tons of activities for the kids. My two small children loved the craft room and enjoyed painting the rocks and seashells that were provided for them. The only suggestion I have (and we could have missed them) is to perhaps have gates for the stairs -- we have two small kids and both sets of stairs are very steep. Otherwise, the house and location were perfect! Thanks for letting us stay and enjoy the beautiful Maine weather!

A wonderful family vacation home!

We had a wonderful 5-day vacation at Michael's place in Kennebunkport. Michael was attentive to all questions before and during the visit. And he left a welcome basket of goodies that was much appreciated after a long drive. The house is great for kids - the art room lives up to the hype, the monkey bars in the playroom were a hit, and a little pond a few feet from the house provided lots of entertainment. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, with chipmunks and frogs as an extra bonus! Everything was neatly organized, accessible and easy to find in the house. Extremely comfortable beds and all the kitchen stuff you need to make lobster and more! We loved using the fire pit to roast marshmallows for s'mores. The walk from the house to downtown Kennebunkport was about 20-25 min, and the kids enjoyed it the handful of times we did it. We'd definitely come back. Thank you, Michael and family, for a memorable stay!

We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend this home! It truly had everything we needed, just as described the house was so well stocked and thoughtfully equipped.We were traveling with our two toddlers, and it was perfect for our family. Our kids loved the outdoor space and the craft area, which kept them entertained during downtime.The location was also great - close to the local beaches and just a short drive to the downtown area, making it easy to explore while still enjoying a quiet, relaxing place to come back to.

Great Stay

Michael put a lot of taught into everything at the house. Items were labeled, extra supplies were provided for any age/situation, and the marshmallows, roasting sticks, and fire spit were a hit with the kids. The kids also loved the bunk beds, swinging and making crafts for hours in the craft/home school room. The neighborhood was quiet and close to town and the beach. House was spotless. Mother’s Beach was close and perfect for children with a playground. Great visit. Only suggestion would be pillow topper for beds, as everyone thought they were very hard. Thanks for a great stay.

Great stay!

The house was well equipped and in a good location! The outdoor space was great, and the hosts had many thoughtful touches including fluffy towels, a welcome basket, and snacks. My husband and I walked to and from town, it was a nice pleasant walk but not one my parents or young children might be able to do. The house itself had some cobwebs throughout (which must be hard to avoid being in the woods in Maine). Overall great experience and we would definitely stay again!

We are Michael and Kori and have 4 children ranging in age from 5 to 9 years old. We moved from Hingham, Mass to Kennebunkport, Maine in the Fall of 2016 in search of a lifestyle that was a little more laid back. We feel that Maine fits our priorities and lifestyle and we just couldn't be happier.

We are a homeschool family and most of Michael's business is internet based and allows him to run it from anywhere. So each summer we set off for 10 weeks, traveling coast to coast, with our 4 kids and only what fits in our car. Our goal is to live life and to give our kids hands-on educational experiences to gain a greater perspective and appreciation of life. We’ve seen Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, Bend, OR, Steamboat Springs, CO, St. Helena Island, SC; the bayou in Louisiana, sunny California, and many points in between.

What we find on these adventures is amazing family time...being away from home, escaping everyday routine and just being a family without routine obligations. It shows our family different lifestyles, culture, and diverse countryside.
It gives us great joy to share our home with other families in search of their own adventure (big or small).
