A great place to stay in the West End and perfect for a pet barely 2 blocks fromHanes Park with walking trails for the dog to stretch her legs. Very walkable to several West End cafes/bars (like the Remedy and the Tap Room) as well as to many great options on 4th St. (Moselle’s, Bernadine’s, Joyner’s Lounge. Very comfortable on aQuiet street in a beautiful, historic neighborhood. Our host )Shamonda) met us for checks in and showed us around; she even left a bottle of wine for us to enjoy. We plan to go back there again!

The property was very clean. We did enjoy this stay, but some small things would've made it better. For example, a mirror in the bedroom would be nice and some coasters for drinks and a small table and chairs would be ideal, because there's nowhere to sit and put on your makeup or write or eat a meal. But overall a positive experience and a very nice hostess.

While this property is conveniently located in the West end of Winston-Salem, the neighborhood is very transitional and we did not feel safe based on the bars propped against the door handles at the back door in the kitchen. Additionally, we saw a roach run across the kitchen counter and there is a definite smell of cigarette smoke covered up by plug in air fresheners in every room that emit an artificial scent that while itsmells better than smoke, it caused my husband and I both to wake up with headaches. On the outside, the apartment building is pretty unkempt, in the inside, the paint is peeling in all rooms, the bathroom has not been updated other than a sink. As it was parents’ weekend at the local university and we got in during the evening, we had few options, so stayed the first night. We left as early as possible in the morning and alerted the host. Neither of the two nights we did not use were refunded.

We value your feedback. The device mentioned is simply a standard, optional door security bar provided for guest peace of mind, similar to the extra latches or safes found in major hotels. Our property is located in Winston-Salem’s historic West End—one of the city’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods—where classic architectural character is preserved. In all our years of hosting, we have never had any reports of insects, as we maintain a strict, ongoing pest control contract. It would have been helpful if a picture of the insect had been included in your photos. Had these issues and photo documentation been brought to our attention during your stay, we would have gladly addressed them immediately. I do thank you for choosing the West End Whisper.

The host went out of her way to be accommodating! She made my stay so easy- exceptional to be exact. Even called to confirm I had arrived and that all was good in the apartment. Great neighborhood - close to wonderful restaurants. Bed was comfortable and 2 big televisions. Full size refrigerator with ice maker made drinks in the evening easy. I will definitely be coming back. Don’t miss this gem if you are coming to Winston-Salem.

Great communication, pet-friendly, easy to get in, parking wasn't an issue on the street, area felt very safe and quiet. Only critique I have is there was a faint smell of smoke in the living room - I'm not sure if people are allowed to smoke inside because the listing says smoking allowed in "designated areas" but regardless it was something we noticed because we were traveling with an infant. Otherwise have nothing bad to say about this apartment.

I'm glad that you and your family felt secure and comfortable, but I apologize for the smoke smell. While smoking is strictly outdoor-only, the policy isn’t always followed as it should be. All air filters are being upgraded and replaced to address this, and it is very likely the smoking policy will be changed entirely to prevent any future issues for guests. It was a pleasure hosting you, and I thank you for choosing the West End Whisper for your accommodations.
