My grandmother bought this property in 1962. She was recently divorced and had $2000 to put down. She couldn’t qualify for a mortgage but because the man who inherited the property believed in her because she was getting her teaching credential at UCSB when it was still Kwanzaa huts, he carried the lawn directly from her. She paid him off in 15 years when she bought the property. It was nothing but dirt and two oak trees and one house built in 1905 she help with my mother planted all the plants including, palm trees, ginger, ferns, canna, fruit trees and many more specimens to numerous to list.
I moved to the property when I was 18 months old and lived here till I was 18 and went off to college. I’ve lived up and down the East Coast and in Europe for many years. 2015 and moved back to property and began remodeling and updating the house
I live in a small house in the back of the property with my son his girlfriend, my rescue dog, a cat and two turtles. I’m busy most days with my other business as an organizer and move manager for downsizing.
I love sharing this property with others, hearing the laughter playing of the Steinway piano and knowing that people can enjoy the magicalspace as much as I do.
It is eight minutes to downtown and Barbara 12 minutes to the beach, walking distance to the museum of natural history and the Santa Barbara admission.
There is an abundance of wildlife on this property, including bats, song birds, opossum, skunks, raccoons, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, lizards, butterflies etc.
There’s lots of shade under the big oak trees. One is over 250 years old and it’s a great tree to hug. You can hear the morning doves in the morning and the owls hooting at each other at night.
With Santa Barbara’s and incredibly temperate climate, it is a true paradise.

This property stands out because the house was built in 1905 interesting architecture elements. The interior is designed with eclectic jewel tones, Asian rugs, original art and a vast library of books. The house sits on a half an acre many hundreds of year-old oak trees. There is a big variety of old growth trees. There are large boulders in the front yard that are fun for kids to climb on that were deposited there over 300 years ago in a mud flow from the mountains.
There is no vacation rental like this in Santa Barbara or anywhere else for that matter. You will be having a completely unique and delightful vacation experience.
