Heron’s Haven- a dog friendly beach oasis

Welcome to paradise! Heron’s Haven in Primehook Beach, DE is back to nature with all the comforts of home. Just out your front door you have a wrap around deck with beautiful views of Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, great for bird watching and relaxing as the evening sun sets in the west. Early morning you enjoy a beautiful sunrise and are just steps away from the entrance to a dog-friendly, not-crowded beach on the Delaware Bay. Yes, our house is pet friendly with a pet fee (please make sure you count your pet on your search for open dates)!

Heron’s Haven is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy time with family and friends. The house is a recently built (2002), open and airy, sanctuary that sleeps 6-7 people. The 1st floor of the house has an open living area which includes a large living room with cathedral ceiling, the deck, and a kitchen and dinning area, all with views of the wildlife refuge. This level also includes a full-size (double) bedroom, full bath, and a bedroom for the kids with 2 single bunk beds and a trundle below.

The third bedroom is the entire second floor that overlooks the first floor as well as the wildlife refuge at the back of the house. It has a queen bed, a full bathroom and it's own balcony overlooking the refuge.

Family meals? The house has a well equipped kitchen and a dining area. Beach toys? The house storage area has many beach chairs to choose from, kites, boogie boards and large floats/boogie boards.

We hope you enjoy the time to unwind and escape the beach crowds to spend quiet time with family and friends.

Notes-
1. The TV in the cottage is a smart TV. Should you desire, you may use your Netflix, Hulu (etc) account on that TV. Please make sure you sign out of your account before you leave!

2. We do not provide linens. Please bring a set of queen sheets, 3 twin sets and a set of full sheets and towels for the bath and beach. If you prefer to rent them please visit 227rent.com and they can drop off and pick up anything you will need.

Could not have been more happy with our stay! Betsy went out of her way to make our stay easy and comfortable. Her communication was great. The house was as advertised, super clean, well stocked with beautiful views and great beach access. We will be back!

Extremely clean and well appointed property. Just as described in listing. Easy access to very uncrowded beach. Host easy to work with. Furnishings nice and decor was fun and cozy. Very comfortable and views were gorgeous. Especially nice to be able to bring our dogs. They enjoyed their walks.

My family had a wonderful stay here. The home is beautifully kept, clean, and organized. The neighborhood is quiet & friendly. The natural surroundings are stunningly beautiful; the home’s wrap-around-porch and balcony are perfect for watching the rising & setting sun as well as the tides and all of the beautiful birds. The peacefulness hearing the waves on the beach & the birds’ songs is indescribable. This was a perfect launching point for activities: a day trip to Nemours Estate on a rainy day, Fort Miles & Cape Henlopen State Park, and a day taking the Lewes ferry to Cape May on the Jersey Shore where we learned about Harriet Tubman’s time there with gorgeous views of the Delaware Bay on the ride over and back. There were so many wonderful restaurants to explore and simply not enough time. Our favorites were “the Nook” for breakfast and “Po’Boys Creole & Fresh Catch” for some amazing New Orleans styled fresh seafood as well as lobster rolls and crab cakes from some of the many food trucks in the nearby beachtown areas. It was so comforting to return to Heron’s Haven after adventuring out. We are so grateful to have stayed here; it was a magical trip with many beautiful memories. I was able to relax very easily here with such an organized and detailed home as well as knowing I could contact our wonderful host if I had any questions or issues. I feel that Betsy went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and maximize our relaxation time. Thank you for having us!

Very nice, dog friendly beach house. My family enjoyed our time at Prime Hook Beach. I loved being in a quiet beach community right next to Prime Hook Natl Wildlife Refuge. The views of the marsh are wonderful and I enjoyed birding with my morning coffee on the upper balcony. I also enjoyed the quick hop across the street to the beach for early morning walks with my dog. The house had everything we needed for my husband and I with our two adult daughters. The kitchen was well appointed and we had no trouble cooking family dinners. the outdoor flattop grill was a nice addition to make meals.

The place was just what we were looking for-very dog friendly and quiet. The house was gorgeous, extremely clean and had every accommodation. The neighbors were very friendly too. I wish we could have stayed longer to use the kayaks. Maybe next time!!

We had a wonderful stay. Heron’s Haven is beautiful and off the beaten path (which was our goal), so we had an incredible peaceful stay with my family and our very old puppy. There was a flattop grill with a full propane of tank that we used almost each day for making our family dinner. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and included coffee pots with coffee to use. The whole house was incredibly clean, we did need to supply our own towels and sheets, but we expected this. There was a deck with a wonderful view all around, and we spent quite a bit of time watching sunsets and a beautiful lightning storm. The welcome book had great ideas on nearby activities and restaurants which we used throughout our stay. It was truly a wonderful stay and we would love to return here in the future.

The house has the most incredible views of Primehook National Refuge. It is in a relaxed, quiet, and tranquil beach setting. The home is updated, clean, and well equipped. Everyone in the area was extremely nice and friendly. The home provided everything that anyone could ask for. The host made check-in and check-out extremely easy and quickly responds and communicates with their guests. The home and overall experience is a 10 out of 10 and we will definitely be returning.Thank you for a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!
