Purple Pelican was a lovely little beach cottage. We had such a relaxing stay there. It was meticulously clean. In spite of previous reviews, the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. PP made a great vacation home and we’d love to come back soon!

The house itself was good. I loved the view. Property is not well stocked for convenience, be prepared to bring all your own cooking bowls, can opener, and anything you will need to reseal food and put into the. Refrigerator. The BBQ cannot be utilized.

This was a great little house for me and my babies! We loved spending time on the porch and there was plenty of space for the three of us. There’s no beach access and the grass is full of stickers so you have to use the neighbors driveways and path through the dunes to get to the beach so prepare for that (esp with little ones)!

This was a fantastic place for a quick getaway. I wanted to stay longer. The west end of Galveston is so calm and peaceful. The home is ideally situated (if you like a little distance between the more touristy parts) and has a lovely view. The house is well cared for and makes a wonderful place to stay for a small group (4), couple, or solo traveler.

Beautiful place - the constant flow of pelicans gliding by made the view of rolling waves even more special. The deck is spacious! Reading with the of sound of the ocean is my idea of a perfect vacation. I’d love to own a place like this for my weekends; until then, living here for a week helped make my ‘retirement’ trip the perfect getaway.

Cute, quaint, and clean This house is perfect for a small group getaway. Sitting on the porch in the elevated rockers was our favorite part of the day! The kitchen is fabulous as well as functional for a quick breakfast before touring. The addition of a Keurig would be a plus, but we made the coffee maker work for us.

This is a perfect place for a beach fix. Property is exactly as represented on VRBO. Clean, great floor plan, and newly renovated as stated on website is accurate and it looks and feels great. Quick easy access to the beach. The balcony that over looks the beach is huge and has great Adirondack gliders to relax in and soak up the peace of the beach. I will definitely return to this peaceful place.

A perfect house for a couple or small family. Seemed like recently remodeled. Very neat, clean & decorated. Retro looking appliances were neat. Great covered large deck with nice rocking chairs. Even though 2nd row there is nothing in front of the house so you have a great ocean view. No obstructions. We will definitely stay here again.Prompt answers by host to any questions we had.

The house was solid, cute decor, close to the beach. The view was perfect! There were 5 of us. Two adults, a 10, 9 and 5 year old. It was a little small for us. One bathroom was kind of hard at times for the kids. But we made it work. I would definitely say 4 adults would be max on comfort. We brought a cot for the 5 year old. Not until we left did we realize the couch had a hide a bed in it. We have stayed at about 10 different houses over the years. Two of them were within a mile to even 5 houses down from the Purple Pelican. I leave completely honest reviews. That's what I would want. There are a few negatives - there wasn't a can opener, pot holders or even full size mixing bowls. The cookware was amazing though! There needs to be a vent in the bathroom. Looks like one is there but it doesn't work. The bathtub is slippery. My 5 yr old fell twice the first night. The big coffee maker doesn't work but the little one is great. Biggest complaint - the beds. They are hard as a rock. Along with the couch. Maybe some pillow toppers would be great? Our 9 yr old even woke up saying he felt beat up. But the house itself is good. Just bring your own kitchen stuff. And be prepared to hurt. The chairs outside are the best seat in the house. Oh and maybe a mop left behind would be great. There isnt one. Last thing enjoy the water but watch that current. It changed everyday. Thanks for the house. :)

I’m writing this review post one month and after recently renting another home on West Beach for Mother’s Day weekend for the wife and family that had everything you expect. The tale of two rental homes… The reason why I could not and would not rent the Purple Pelican home again for this past weekend was so apparent after being in another home that met every need. First and foremost the house is hot at night in the two bedrooms. The AC was cranked and cool in the den but the rooms have no flow. The ceiling fans are small and don’t help bring in the cool air to the rooms. The noise from cars wizzing down the highway just behind the house is also heard in the two rooms. Not what you expect for a quiet beach get away. Also, when the condenser unit starts there was a loud surging sound, so even if you are able to fall asleep then there’s a good chance you will be awakened. Sleeping was horrible to say the least. The kitchen is as sterile as a home can be. Maybe a salt and pepper shaker, other than that nothing. The pots and pans are not worthy enough to be donated to good will. The Teflon pan with no Teflon. I spent more time scraping out the previous renters stuck on eggs than I did making breakfast. I just don’t understand how owners can’t make a trip to WM or Target and invest a couple hundred dollars into culinary items. After renting a different home in the Pointe West community this past weekend that spared no expense, I felt obliged to go back and review the Purple house.

We had an excellent stay at this beautiful, quiet, and incredibly relaxing location. The home was exactly as described and felt warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. It was the perfect place to unwind, and we would absolutely stay here again.
