Your claim that the construction site was active and that there was significant noise during your stay is a considerable exaggeration and does not correspond with what actually took place. At the same time, we believe it is only fair to ask why you did not mention in your review the damage that occurred during your stay, including the broken children’s slide, children’s playhouse, refrigerator, and television. If you choose to publicly express your dissatisfaction with the accommodation and your host, it would only be fair to also mention the circumstances concerning your own group’s behavior and the condition in which the property was left. Unfortunately, from the very beginning of your stay, you gave the impression that you had arrived primarily with the intention of finding faults and reasons to complain. Wherever you travel in the world and whatever property you stay in, it is always possible to find something wrong if that is specifically what you are looking for. With this kind of approach, you have unfortunately left the impression of being typical “Karen tourists” — guests who seem more focused on finding problems and making complaints than on giving a fair and objective assessment of their overall experience. We respect every guest’s right to share their experience and criticism. However, we equally believe that a host has the right to respond to statements they consider inaccurate and to publicly point out important facts and circumstances that were conveniently omitted from the review.
