We do want to address a few things so future guests have the full picture. Regarding the spoon, the can, and the towel — we completely understand how that looked upon arrival, and we sincerely apologize that it was missed. What actually happened is that our cleaning team came through prior to your check-in, and our AC technician arrived during that window and used those items while working on the unit. That is entirely on us to have caught before you arrived, and we take full responsibility for the oversight. Cleanliness is something we take enormous pride in — it’s consistently one of the top things guests mention about our home — so we were genuinely mortified this slipped through. As for the air conditioning — the moment you let us know there was an issue, we had a technician out immediately. They repaired the unit and advised us that because of the humidity inside the home at the time, the system would cool approximately one degree per hour, and that the set temperature should stay within 4 degrees of the actual indoor temperature or the system would overload and struggle to catch up. We were adjusting the thermostat with that guidance in mind … not to control your comfort, but to follow the technician’s instructions so the system could recover efficiently. We understand that was frustrating not knowing that context in the moment, and we wish we had communicated it better in real time. We did have an our normal AC company come out the following morning, and they confirmed the system was functioning properly and cooling as it should. Because the first night was impacted before the repair was completed, we issued a partial refund. That refund was processed on June 3rd — just three days after checkout — and was on its way to you depending on your bank and Airbnb’s processing timelines. We genuinely care about every guest’s experience and wish this stay had gone more smoothly. We hope you’ll give us another chance to show you the stay this home is truly known for.
