This place is in a very nice location and the pool was great. The remote for the ceiling fan in the master was missing, but there was an extra fan in the house, so we were good. We loved running over to the golf course that was just around the corner. Getting ahold of the host was quick and easy. Very nice people. Overall, my family loved it!

The main attraction of this house was the pool. The whole family enjoyed the pool in the backyard, day and night. There is a pool table inside and a bocce ball court outside, but the pool kept us entertained due to the heat. The house felt a little dusty and the dishwasher didn't work, but overall clean. The indoor and outdoor spaces were large which made it comfortable for our whole family.

The location was wonderful. The home was relatively clean…. But we did have a rat that came through the fireplace one afternoon! Considering the location, we expected a few animals.The space was large enough and for everyone and we enjoyed everyone having a bedroom. The dishwasher was not working, and that was quite a lot for all of us there to have to take turns washing dishes for so many of us. The waterfall on the pool was not operational.. The pool overall was great for the kids and the access to the river was wonderful..

Place was beautiful pool was perfect. Master bath tub had sewage backed up into it. Bathroom had bad odor. Dishwasher top rack broken, couldn’t pull it out. Ice maker didn’t work.We still had a great time but feel these things were obviously broken and should of been taken care of prior to our arrival.

Amazing backyard with dream pool and waterfall

We love the country feel and many fun features. My 3 generation families never had a dull moment there. Everyone loved the resort-like facility.

Pool and River

This place is great plenty of rooms for our large family. Easy check in and the river still had water running just enough to enjoy about 1 1/2 feet of water. The pool was also great.

Know what to expect if you decide to stay here. 1) hope the owners have recently cleaned out the septic tank, which unfortunately was not the case for us - day 1 of our stay the toilets stopped flushing and the primary bathtub filled up with sewage. While the owners were able to get a plumber out that night, he confirmed the septic tank had not been cleaned properly so further service people had to come out during the rest of our stay. The smell from the tub was so bad we had to close off the primary bathroom/bedroom entirely and sleep in the living room. 2) the dishwasher does not work (which the owners have been aware of since 2024 based on prior reviews and have chosen to do nothing). 3) there is a severe rodent problem - you will see mice in the kitchen and on the stone walls of the living room, which attracts the local rattlesnakes (my father-in-law trapped one right outside the back patio door where my 4-year-old was playing, luckily no one was hurt!). There are old traps all over so it’s also another issue that hasn’t been addressed properly. The owners are unapologetic and will place blame on you if you bring things to their attention (ie they tried to say the residue from the sewage back up in the bathtub was caused by a “pet” we brought…we don’t even own a pet nor would travel across the country with one! Save your headache and money and go camping instead, it’s basically what we ended up doing here anyway!

Issues happened was out of our control. Due to pge blackout pump motor broke down and caused the plumbing issue. House is in the mountains. So expect nature related issues. You had asked for refund and we were even willing but you wanted to leave a bad review in-spite of addressing concerns. When you stayed you mentioned several times how much you enjoyed the property. We have addressed all the issues. Happy to host you and give you discount.

Perfect family getaway!

This home and its surroundings is just amazing. Our family spent equal times at the river and the pool as well as relaxing and exploring the area (Bass Lake, Sugar Pine Railroad, and Yosemite). Can't wait to come again.

A little something for everyone

Our family had a great time at this property. There were activities for all: swimming in the pool, floating in the river, or hanging out in the nicely air conditioned house to play games.

Perfect place to relax with family!

Beautiful and quiet home that was perfect for family to be together. The pool was wonderful for the hot days, and there was plenty of shade down at the river to enjoy that area as well. It’s a short 35 min drive to Yosemite south entrance, and only 10 mins to Oakhurst. Overall, already ready and wanting to go back!

Nice location and space

Great location for our daily outings - the ranch home had plenty of space for our group, and we enjoyed the pool as well. Unfortunately the hot tub was down for maintenance but we enjoyed the outside deck area for dinners. The house could use some maintenance care - loose faucets, some lighting out, random TV remotes/soundbar not working and so on, but overall great stay for our friend reunion.

Perfect and Secluded Riverfront Cabin

An absolute beautiful riverfront cabin. The whole family and I absolutely enjoyed the quietness and especially the nature of this location. It was awesome to have the golf course nearby and local restaurants such as the Southgate brewery to enjoy good food. This house had five spacious bedrooms for all of our guest. It had Wi-Fi and cable TV for streaming a good movie at night. Lastly, the pool and Jacuzzi made this location even more magical, deafly will be returning back!

Something for everyone.

We had 6 adults and 6 kids. The layout of the house was perfect. With the pool and the river in the back there was no need to leave the property. The kids stayed outside and busy the entire 4 days we were there. We brought in our own groceries and were able to cook all our meals. I highly recommend this property for anyone with a group with many ages.

Awesome River house

Sooooooo much fun. Beautiful views, gentle river access, and lovely pool. Wi-Fi is understandably slow. Well supplied for cooking. Long ride to Yosemite valley, beautiful grassy yard, and a abundance of swings.

Amazing property for families with active kids

This property is very beautiful, spacious & unique, and we had an amazing stay. We were a group of 12 with 6 teens, and we had a plenty of space inside and especially outside! The property is amazing and the area beautiful. There is access to great mountain bike trails outside of Oakhurst. There were so many activities at the house (pool, ping pong, bocce ball, badminton, the river, tree swings, the fantastic big pool, games, etc) We were outside most of the time, but were very comfortable and occupied when inside too! Communication was great with owner and manager.

Absolutely beautiful!!

The property was amazing! Tons of space, very private and a view to die for A few maintenance and amenity issues but nothing that can’t be fixed. Hot tub wasn’t working but it got fixed by the second day. No propane for the bbq so we couldn’t use that. All the bathroom sinks were slow draining. The kitchen utensils are lacking if you plan do cook a bunch.

Family fun

My family and I had a wonderful time at the property. We took walks around the river. The kids swam in the pool every day and we enjoyed the hot tub at night. We played several friendly game's of pool and my son and husband did a little gold panning. The house was in good shape and had everything we needed. We cooked dinner every night and used the BBQ. We had a wonderful time and the view from the home is beautiful. We enjoyed the sounds of the river and all the friendly birds when we had breakfast outside in the mornings. The owner was very helpful and quick to respond. Check in and out was easy. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Lots to Do

Though it's an older home, it had modern appliances. There were lots of pits/pans, cutlery, baking & serving dishes ... There were also plenty of towels for showering and swimming. Plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained right on the property. Beautiful swimming pool and spa. The only drawbacks were that the pool was not ready to use until the poolguy came the day after we arrived and that, at first, we had to call the property manager to turn on the spa whenever we were planning to use it. That was remedied the next day when he gave us access to turn it on and off ourselves. The property manager was always very quick to respond to questions and needs. Everyone had a great time. Our 17yr old grandson said this is the best place we've stayed so far in the 8yrs we've been doing this.

Great family trip

Had a great stay at the property. We were a group of 14 with age range from my 1 year old to mother in law of 70. Management and owners are very responsive. The house is older but everything worked well and appliances looked newer. For what we needed and wanted to pay, we were very happy with it. We did see a volleyball court in the pictures and we were excited about that because most of us play volleyball but looks like the heavy rain washed out most of it so we were not able to use it. It was not in the description of the property, just saw it in the picture and got excited about it. Enjoying the backyard was the best part.

Great location and area, overshadowed by poor service

This property is spacious with good facilities and in a lovely area. We stayed for a week with a larger family group. Unfortunately there were a series of issues concerning repairs and lack of utilities which were not responded to by the host (including leaking sink drainage, inadequate air con and lack of property maintenance). On check out day there was scheduled maintenance to electrical lines that we were not made aware of and so had no electricity, warming food in fridges, no lighting and no running water for toilets or showers, just as we were due to check out. There has been no further contact from either the host or from VRBO concerning our complaint. Despite the nice location and scenery, this trip was unfortunately overshadowed by very poor service.

A Diamond in the Rough

This older home was certainly roomy enough for our family of 6 adults & four kids. We drove to Yosemite one day & spent the rest of the time on the property. The river was still running & the kids enjoyed playing in it. The pool was a hit. Both the pool & the hot tub were well maintained. One caveat: the pool is not fenced in. We were not comfortable leaving the children outside unsupervised. The pictures with the listing should be updated. Some of the outdoor furniture seen in the pictures is gone. The volley ball area is in disrepair. The dining rooms chairs & a living room couch are now covered with slipcovers. A double oven shown is missing the top oven & a toaster oven sits in the space where the oven was. An opaque light panel in the kitchen was replaced by a clear one, exposing the inside of the light fixture. The deck railings look fine but are unstable & need to be repaired or replaced. Supposedly the appliances were replaced in 2021. But during our stay, the top rack in the dishwasher did not work at all. The kitchen sink faucet wasn’t properly attached. In the master bath, 1 sink stopper didn’t work & we had to prop it open with a straw. Steve, the onsite manager was attentive but unable to fix these issues during our stay. Considering the condition of the house, we thought the rental price was reasonable. With greater investment, Riverbend could go from a good place to stay to a great place to stay.

Dear As you know there was a major storm and flooding in the beginning of the year. That has washed away volleyball area. We have to wait till we understand what river does this season to decide on the shoreline area fixes. Pool area is inside the compound. There is wooden and steel mesh fence around the main house and the pool. Also there is a fenced gate which separates house patio and pool. There was some damages from previous guests because of which we had to get slippers and also took care of the kitchen sink. Deck railing fence usually weathers out in mountain area. That is getting fixed as well. Wind storm and flooding caused damage to backyard furniture , that’s why you see different furniture than the pictures. We will update the pictures.

Caveat Emptor! Do not waste your money!

This house is in dire need of some serious updating and is not very clean or sanitary. We could tolerate the dirty kitchen cabinets, dated wood paneling, and the Brady Bunch inspired dining room table. However, the tiny sunken bathtub surrounded by the unsightly collection of plants and the menagerie of insects they attract was a bit too retro for us. My wife did not appreciate having insects crawl on her as she soaked in the bathtub. Additionally, the mattress in the master bedroom is very old and worn. The edges collapse and the bed squeaks loudly. We wanted to use the grill to barbecue some meat. Unfortunately, frogs had taken over the grill. These slimy reptiles carry salmonella. This was not exactly appetizing. Frogs have also taken over the pool. Not surprising, considering all the debris in and around it. Our kids had to avoid the edges of the pool fearing that spiders and frogs would jump on them. The hammocks were riddled with bird droppings and tree sap.   The bathrooms were not cleaned properly.  We found dirt and urine splatter between the toilet seat and tank. Also, many of the pillows and beanbags were crusty and dirty. The house has central air. However, it is an older unit and is extremely loud. Consequently, several family members had trouble sleeping. The original flooring has been replaced with polished concrete flooring. It extremely slippery when wet and poses a serious safety concern for children and elderly. We had several close calls. Potential renters should also know that this house is located about two hours from Yosemite Village. Thus, if you are planning a trip to Yosemite, this location is not the most pragmatic choice. Also note that there are two properties on the lot. Moreover, there is a small barn about 60 feet away from the main house. It is occupied by permanent tenants. Thus, if it is privacy that you desire, look elsewhere. To make matters worse, the owner decided to keep our entire security deposit. He claims that we checked out late and that we left trash for the housekeeper to clean up. Please keep in mind that the owner (Fred) lives in San Francisco and never inspected the property himself. We have never encountered any establishment that has penalized us for checking out a few minutes late. Clearly, this is the owner's custom and practice. My guess is that he does this every time to augment his income. He also charged us an additional $600 to heat the pool during our one week stay... Classy.

We are both disappointment and disheartened about the review you left on HomeAway, especially in light of the great review your party left in our guest book at the entrance table, which was written before our discussion about our withholding a portion of your deposit. In our looking to reconcile which review is true, we believe it is the one you left in our guest book. The comments left in our guest book indicate that your group had a great vacation, with wonderful life-long memories while at Riverbend. I quote, “We enjoyed Riverbend for its sure beauty and away from all the people. The pictures online are really understated…” The one page review was about how comfortable and nice a stay your family had at Riverbend. This review also mentioned all the great things to do in the area and how close they are to Riverbend. We wish you had posted that review. It sounded like a 4, maybe 5, star review. In looking at the disparity of your reviews, I believe you are angry for our withholding $600 from your deposit to cover cleaning up the mess you left at Riverbend. It took our cleaning team two days to get the house back to the condition it was in when you arrived. On top of that, you were not ready to leave when our cleaning team arrived at checkout time. It was our good fortune that we did not have guests arriving the same day you left. In the seven years that guests have been visiting Riverbend, you are the third family we have withheld a portion of the deposit. We take our guests deposits very seriously, and we discuss our reasons with the family, before we act, as we did with you. If we thought your 1 star review had any real merit, we would address each of the points you raised. You are our only review in seven years that has not been a 4 or 5 start. The guests before you and after you gave us 5 star ratings. You left us a glowing review on our guest book, which matches our intention to our guests for providing a setting for them to create wonderful life-long memories at Riverbend.
