Hello John, Thank you for choosing Lidskjalf Villa as your vacation destination! We are so sorry that you feel this way. My name is Luciah and I am the new property manager. We were in transition when you vacationed there in April. To hear that you have been there many times in the past is heart warming. St. John, especially Francis Bay and now Lidskjalf are dear to my heart. There is a charm here like no other with a short walk to Francis Bay Beach. Since your stay in April, I am happy to report that we have replaced the air conditioning unit in the living room for a brand new unit, updated all decking areas with new wood. The washer is in the process of being replaced as well. We are trying to find the right one-however if you need laundry service, we pick up and drop off laundry. With regards to the mosquitoes, that is only possible if the sliders are left open for a period of time. With the new ac and sliders shut as much as possible, you should have an amazing time! We are always very sad when guests have less than a stellar experience at one of our properties on St. John. We strive to be a five star operation, and during this 'perfect storm' week, six of our people went to the house at different times and actually reported to the office that the power and AC issues had all been resolved. It's really important for our guests to be in touch with us, so we can jump on maintenance items quickly. The villa is in the middle of the VI National Park, and is subject to tropical critters, especially at dawn and dusk. For some more sensitive folks, that can be too high a price to pay for the walking access to our protected beaches. We wish these guests well and hope they were able to take some wonderful memories home with them.

Thank you so much for your review! We appreciate it. We respect and welcome all feedback as this absolutely lets us know what's good about the property and what areas need improvement. Since your stay, we have worked very hard at making sure the small areas are sealed to prevent mosquitos from coming in. It does extremely help when guests close the doors directly behind them as they are entering or leaving a room to prevent mosquitoes from coming in. Mosquitoes do NOT like the cold. The ac units in each room work well and helps to keep them out. The ac in the living room is brand new and gets very cold. For the geckos, they are part of the island. Please bare in mind that Lidskjalf is surrounded by trees and forest. It is also located next to the beautiful Francis Bay Beach. The geckos are not harmful and we do our best to keep them out prior to check in. If there are any sitings on the property of these 2inch local friends, it is normally about 2 of them. It would also help by keeping the doors closed. The island does have power outages, and I would like to sincerely apologize for that. The power outages are out of our personal control and handled by the Government office of the Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority also known as "WAPA" (pronounced wah-pah). Although power outages happen unannounced, we try to make sure that guests are prepared with flashlights and board games. Sometimes the power outages are a result of an accident stemming from a vehicle hitting into a electrical pole or other form of car accident. Wapa has gotten better about notifying the public about accurately scheduled outages and this gives us the opportunity to inform our guests in a timelier fashion. They are normally tri-island wide. We are constantly working to improve and make sure that guest have an amazing time. This is our goal, and you are a priority! We sincerely appreciate you and would love to host you again!

We are grateful for happy guests. Lidskjalf is truly a magical house in a magical spot on St. John that looks much as it did when Columbus sailed by. In order to maintain the magic and not overwhelm the house, we rent to a maximum of six guests. The fourth bedroom, a small 'bunk room' for kids, is locked and not available to guests. The fourth bathroom, however-- with its own private but outdoor shower--is left unlocked. BJ Harris, St. John Properties
